I FCKING CALLED IT. I can't believe I was actually spot on with my Order theory!

Misha... I'M SO SAD. His departure actually hit me way harder than I thought it would. And it broke me when I saw the guest book and the departed note 😭. I'm so glad I've built him (I needed Ice AoE).

I loved the difference between the Preservation and the Harmony Path scenes. While the Preservation was more action packed, the Harmony was much more emotional since it was more of a debate of philosophies. The way Xipe glanced at us actually looked like THEY were supportive of the Trailblaze.

The Dream Ending scene really shocked me. And I was so pissed because I REALLY WANTED BOOTHILL TO TRAVEL WITH US, even if it was for a short while 😭.

Also was not expecting an Argenti appearance. I learned from others in Twitter you can actually avoid his fight by picking the right dialogue. I can't believe I missed an achievement.

Boothill's plan at the end really made me more interested in the current status of the Galaxy Rangers. Their scene was so cool, they actually arrived without hesitation when Boothill fired the burial artifact.

Finally got official confirmation that Acheron shares a name with her HI3 and Genshin counterparts just like Himeko and Bronya.

The Harmonious Choir Boss was fcking epic. And it's awesome and funny that the MC and Clockie basically just ram THE ENTIRE ASTRAL EXPRESS (even if it's just a copy) onto him. And the Robin song cutscene was so cool.

WHY DID IT HAVE TO END ON ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER?? I hope we actually get significant Boothill lore in 2.3, I mean, the cliffhanger does need to be addressed.

Penacony is absolutely PEAK. I love that the mission revealed significant lore about the Nameless.

typing the beginning AGAIN. Time to yap abt my theories (WITHOUT deleting them. I had it worded so perfectly and now I feel like in forgetting important things 😭😭)

SO there's this character called the “Dreammaster” (assuming they're different from the “Watchmaker”), to which Acheron KNEW they were the Dreammaster. They claim to be able to control (more like the Oak Family are their “eyes, ears and mouth”) the “Oak Family Offspring” (is how they worded it). This proven by how the people are crowded around Acheron. If I remember right too, Robin and Sunday are from the Oak Family so have they been the Dreammasters “eyes, ears and mouth” but when? Is the Dreammaster with them 24/7??

The Dreammaster also talks abt how they “exile evil from the haven in their head” (shown in screenshot) and I thought at first that they meant Acheron, because while she's not apart of the Oak Family, she's in the Penacony Dreamscape. She's asked (forced, and chose) to leave because she “knows too much” I think they said. Is the Penacony Dreamscape the Dreammasters head? But then, later on, the Pepeshi shown here is seen in the other Dreamscape we now know (it's a new one, can't remember what it's called)

Before we meet the Pepeshi tho (he's talking with March), we meet Misha and Clockie again and it's said that “Death” (or “Sleepie” as Misha calls it) has “started ferrying people back and forth between the two Dreamscapes.” Why was the Pepeshi so stressed though? What happened?? Was he exiled from the Dreammasters head????

I had ORIGINALLY thought that the Dreammaster “exiled” the people from his head via “Death” (kinda proven by the Pepeshi showing up in this Dreamscape where Robin and Firefly also showed up after “Death” got them), but Sleepie (“Death”) is depicted essentially as a dog Gallagher takes care of (surprise Gallagher mention!!) by Misha and isn't a threat, and it's well behaved but is just a bit aggressive. I'm still on the fence abt this idea bc of that, but it think it MIGHT be plausible (take all of the things I'm saying with a grain of salt I'm normally not very good with theories, hence why I never tell anyone 😭😭)

I have a LOT more thoughts honestly but this is the biggest one as of now. If you're GENUINELY interested in more of my theory yapping Arii I'll keep talking abt this stuff with you <33 (just keep in mind that, again, my theories are almost never right 😭😭 and I feel like I had more thoughts to this but this is the whole gist of it.) Hey, I am now fully obsessed with this AU and I wanted to ask more questions:

1. Once the Trailblazer knows about Qingyan and Ashim existence, what will they think of them?

2. What is Ashim and Qingyan's relationship really like? What do they think of each other? What are these "dire incidents" that cause both of them to become close?

3. What do both Ashim and Qingyan think of the other characters? Like Fu Xuan, Jingyuan, the Astral Express and The Trailblazer?

4. Since you have confirmed that Qingyan actually did some pranks if someone makes gets him in a very bad mood, what are these times where Qingyan snapped and decided to prank on that person? Who was the one who pranked him? What was actually the prank like?

5.  Will any of the characters, who picked up Ashim and Qingyan's presence but never know about them, soon found out about them in this AU? If so, who was the first one (other than Jingyuan) to fully found out? And was their reaction?

6. When did Yanqing and Misha's powers become sentimental? Were Ashim and Qingyan sentimental ever since birth?

1. I’d say, definitely a bit wary. Though, the trailblazer will be more casual and relaxed about them once Qingyan and Ahsim make it clear they’re not gonna be enemies to the trailblazer.

2.

Qingyan and Ahsim have ended up with a close relationship and think highly of each other even though they tend to bicker. While it may seem that they have trouble getting along, they have gained a better understanding of each other and wouldn’t hesitate to help each other. In a way, their relationship has a similar energy to Qingyan being able to give Ahsim the middle finger and get an “love you too” in response.

For Qingyan’s pov on Ahsim: “That one…ugh. He knows exactly how to get on my nerves and the amount of times he’s messed with me for fun leaves me fuming just thinking about it! …But he’s one of the rare few I’d entrust my life to. …Never tell him I said that.”

For Ahsim’s pov on Qingyan: “Ha, he’s a fun one to tease. Incredibly easy to mess with too. It’s especially cute how that strand of hair seems to move according to his mood. I once suggested plucking it and he got incredibly defensive, haha. Ah…of course I wouldn’t actually, but it’d be nice if he learned how to relax. Maybe one day he’ll take my jokes in stride.”

As for the “dire incidents”… unfortunately that’s very important to this au’s plot so I won’t be spoiling it. ;)

About The Family - “The Family… It would be a lie to say they haven’t done anything good. However, I… Ahem. This isn’t a very safe place to discuss this.”

About Clockie - “A fascinating one, isn’t he? Ah, there’s been many fun times between us. Though, I’m mostly grateful that he could become a friend for Misha. I hope that Misha will someday get the chance to make even more wonderful friends.”

About Gallagher - “I’ve had my eyes on him for a while. I’d approach him myself but…ah. It’s not quite the right time.”

4. This was meant more as a background funfact so it unfortunately doesn’t have that much in-depth details to it. However, Qingyan may or may not have done the following: misplacing documents that needed to be turned in, using ice to make armor harder to take off, making someone slip/trip, sticking embarrassing sticky notes on someone’s back, tampering with someone’s food, etc.

5. At the moment, this is highly subject to change so I won’t provide any solid answers to this yet. However, Fu Xuan and Blackswan are certainly higher in the list. Both of them would have rather calm reactions to be honest. Fu Xuan might be more exasperated and Blackswan probably more intrigued.

6. Qingyan and Ahsim became fully sentient and made first true contact with their respective hosts when Yanqing and Misha were little. Before that, their sentience needed some time to develop.

I've got random 2.2 thoughts because I had such a good time with it.

I'm so glad I didn't try to power through the rest of the story before going to sleep last night because the boss fight was so hype that I don't know if I would have been able to fall asleep after it. I will never get over slamming the Express into the boss, and Stelle looks SO PRETTY in the animation when you use it. I loved Robin and the rest of the crew having a line the first five times you activate it. Himeko's line fucking took me out. Hoyo… truly knows what my weaknesses are.

I heard you still have the Express's help in the Echo of War version of the fight but you don't get the animation of Stelle and Clockie summoning it and that's just. A crime. I'm pretty sure they still show Dan Heng in the Echo of War Phantylia fight, so why don't we get Stelle and Clockie? Like, I guess??? It could be weird if you're using Destruction or Preservation Stelle in the fight and then it's the Harmony version in the animation, but it would be the same situation as using 4 star Dan Heng against Phantylia. I'm just so sad I'll never get to see it again in the game.

I loved the whole part where Stelle's trapped in the Order's dream because I was just like. What is happening? This is feels so abrupt and I'm so disoriented and, bitch, I know the boss has two more phases and there were cutscenes in the trailer that still haven't happened yet. And then as soon as Topaz was like "Everyone has agreed to work together to help Penacony" I was like. Yeah. No. This is 100% a dream lmao.

Also, I don't know if this was just an audio glitch, but when I went back to the train, the music was reset to the default song, so I was like. Um???

When Black Swan said the card she gave Stelle was an empty light cone, there was a moment where I thought she would use it make a light cone using Stelle's memories and I was so disappointed that didn't happen. I really want a light cone with Stelle in it one day...

Harmony Stelle's animations are so good, I'm in love with her. There's so much personality and sass to them!! I'm surprised Stelle and Caelus's ultimate animations are almost exactly the same except for one part because their other ultimate animations look very different from each other while conveying the same thing. It's probably my bias speaking, but I feel like, aside from that really cool knee slide only Caelus has, the rest of the dance looks like it was animated a little more with Stelle in mind than Caelus.

I love Harmony Stelle so much that I'm going to start building break DPSs for her. And Ruan Mei lmao. I've been sitting on Ruan Mei for ages as I farmed relics for other characters. I was already planning to build Xueyi eventually because I used a trial version in one of the combat events and she was very fun and now I have another reason to do it.

I'm thrilled that Stelle got to talk and say cool shit in the cutscenes. I love her and she's so precious and I love that she gets to be cool!!! I always want Stelle to talk more.

Dan Heng's interactions with Boothill are so funny. He's just like. I don't want this man to ever speak for the rest of his life, I will murder him if he claims to be a Nameless again.

I was like. This close to crying when Dan Heng said his companions are once-in-a-lifetime treasures. My fucking heart, man.

All the Nameless stuff makes me so emotional and I'm not even entirely sure why. There's something about the way they present it that always has me dead on the ground. Like, the fact that the Astral Express has been around for so, so, so much longer than the current crew and they will continue to visit worlds that were visited and loved by their predecessors. The way the Nameless who left the Express still held it so close to their hearts. I love the reverence they have for the past Nameless. Stelle kneeling in front Mikhail after she received his hat was so beautiful.

I cried over Misha getting his memories back, and how only the other trailblazers were able to see him. The 2.0 explanation that only honest people with childlike innocence could see Clockie was very funny and I had thought it was a Stellaron thing since Stelle being able to see weird things related to Stellarons is an established thing, but the fact it's actually that you need to share the same spirit of trailblazing that Mikhail had is so uggggghhhhh.

Acheron finding Tiernan and helping him find peace and move on was soooo sweet. Now that we very concretely know the final fates of two of the three Nameless that stayed on Penacony, I'm curious whether we'll eventually get a more concrete ending for Razalina since I think her fate was still a little ambiguous.

I fucking LOVE bookends, so Acheron repeating what she told Stelle during their first meeting being one of the last things that happened in 2.2 and asking her the same questions she asked at the beginning... Those were personal attacks on me.

I'm still not 100% clear on the meaning behind Acheron's red text. I know it's related to red being the colour of existence (I think that's what she said) but I don't know what it's supposed to mean in the context of the red text. My first thought was that the red text is her breaking through the Order's dream's influence, but I don't remember if that fits with all her red text. And her red text appears when she's talking to Tiernan too, and I don't think that was part of a dream.

So I really don't know. Maybe her red text isn't that deep and everyone freaked out when they saw it for no reason lmao.

I have no idea what Sparkle was up to. I thought her buttons would do something during the last boss fight, but no? That doesn't seem to be it? I guess the Charmony Festival technically didn't start yet, so it's might be setup for something in 2.3. Either that or it's more of her red herring imagery.

(thoughts on penacony 2.0 trailblaze mission!)

PENACONY!!! 😍

just a warning, this is gonna be mostly aimless rambling about the penacony map and story. this includes spoilers!

i'm blown away on the production quality of penacony, both in the real world and the dream world. the music, special effects, skyline, whimsy... they put so much into the penacony experience and i love it

golden hour is massive and even though i took a detour countless of times from firefly's tour (I'M SO SORRY FIREFLY) there are still places i haven't fully explored! it's a pure delight ♪(´▽｀) i really enjoyed how they introduced penacony gameplay mechanics so naturally in the story

penacony puzzles in general are so unique and a huge step up from past regions! my favorite one is the clockie puzzle. i actually find them hard but they reminds me of puzzle games i used to play and i like that challenge

penacony food looked so delicious... 🌈🍦🍨🍩🍟🍰 sorry firefly i picked the most expensive item hoping we could share it

i was very pleased with the whole "touring around with a cute girl eating french fries dipped in ice cream" vibes we got with firefly! it's very cute... especially while playing as stelle (❁´◡`❁)

firefly's story is very touching... "a dream you don't want to wake up from" seems to be a big theme that's being set up for penacony. i believe acheron at the very beginning also questioned us about our willingness to stay in a dream and risk things for ones we care about, and firefly's love and reason for staying in penacony bring this theme back

this line thoroughly shattered me. please protect firefly...

other characters who stood out to me:

acheron. she's less of a scary badass than i expected, and she's actually really cute?! (gap moe?!) but perhaps my initial impression of her upon seeing her splash art ("spines and bloodied clothing... she looks like bad news!") might be true after all... 😳

sparkle. she is so catty and snarky! i didn't expect so much venom to come out of her mouth. i like more characters like this who deliberately antagonize others

misha. I HAVE A BIG THEORY about him ┌( ´_ゝ` )┐

i think misha is related to mikhail. this is entirely due to the voice during the trippy dream-in-a-dream sequence sounding just like misha's in the CN voiceover, so i could be totally wrong. but misha is quite special as someone who can see clockie and is the one who guided the trailblazer to golden hour

"mikhail," whoever he is, is too prominent in the trailblaze mission to be something unrelated to the mystery of the watchmaker. so my theory is also that mikhail and/or misha is involved with the origin of the watchmaker...

i have more thoughts about the latter half of the story but i'll add to this post when it comes to me later, it's late! thanks for reading!

haahhhhhh idk how to organize my thoughts on the tb mission. uh. it was to long. i liked it a lot and i think it was pretty well written but. it dragged in parts. as i neared the end i was like. okay now its over. okay NOW it's over. OKAY now its over. NOW. this time for sure. and that went on for like 3 hours. let me leave.

this is partially my own fault. if i wasn't so insistent on rushing it so i don't get spoiled it wouldn't be a problem but... well i don't wanna get spoiled damn it!

i think the emotional moments with the former nameless were all GREAT. loved Mickail and Teirnan and Razelina. thought Clockie was great. Misha really tugged at the heartstrings.

the fake ending was diabolical. i think it was cool buuut... it kinda sucked the tension outta the room a little.

i don't know. we still have the epilogue to look forward to so. there are little things here and there i'd like resolved. like. was Sparkle up to anything or was she truly just the most red herring girlie of all time? i wanted her to go full joker pilled and blow up penacony with her funny bombs. and firefly just kinda fucked off lmao. she's busy i guess.

the beginning was really good! i liked the bladie/firefly car scene. he's so gentle and sweet in his own sad strange little way. such a girl dad.

wish Argenti's voicelines worked, i can't believe i missed them :( love him for rescuing my babygirl from the abyss tho <3

speaking of Churin. I'm glad my wife is safe. i hope he gets that promotion.

this is kind of disjointed because i dunno what to talk about. a lot of this update was just lore and lore and more lore so like. it was cool but i don't have much to say about it. it was cool if a little needlessly verbose. it was all NEEDED exposition i think, just delivered it a bit of a meandering way.

also. don't love the weight given the Acheron name reveal. girl i don't play H3rd i dunno whats important about that.

all in all i liked it and think they stuck the landing i'm just. tired from playing like 10 hours of star rail lmao.

Well, since i finished the main story Penacony's first half (still need to do the Companion Mission + finding all those chests), and I took a few screenshots, and I thought I'd show them while also having commentary on the main quest's story beats.

**SPOILERS and a LOTS of words Under the Cut

While I am kinda sad Dan Heng didn't get to join us for Penacony, at least this means he gets a rest. Man was going through it on the Luofu let him have a chance to breathe and relax for once in his life.

This is more of a nitpick for me but I missed the easter egg at the beginning where you could've seen Silver Wolf & Sam chatting and I'm sad i missed it! I can go back in someone's playthrough to see it but man :(

Gotta love not at all ominous red text with Acheron. I'm sure this has nothing to do with anything in the foreseeable future.

That being said, I am kinda intrigued on what's the relationship between the Trailblazer & Acheron. I didn't get to play Honkai Impact 3rd, but I have read the comics Hoyoverse have online. And as the Star Rail's Raiden Mei of course they're going to give her an important role. It's also nice (and depressing) that she sees what I assume is the HSR Kiana of this universe, or someone else entirely. Plus she just seems like a character with a lot of regret. Hard to tell right now, but I also saw the red text does change depending on who you chose & the choices you make when talking to her so cool details!

Also Penacony is HUGE. I spent so much time getting lost in the Golden Hour area alone and i still haven't found every chest & puzzle. they really wanted this area to feel like the Roaring 20's and it shows

Aventurine is a grade-A asshat and good for him. He's very punch-able in a positivity way. Man's scheming something and i don't trust him one bit, but I am intrigued by him. Also his banter with Dr. Ratio was defiantly charged with something. Whether that was sexual tension or them wanting to kill each other, it's anyone's guess. He's also a really good contrast to Topaz as an IPC official whose not above using shady methods to win so I'm intrigued. Still wanna punch him tho.

I hope Misha & Gallagher get more time to shine in later patches, their appearances were so brief I NEED MORE! I do have a working theory on Misha but that's for a later time :)

Despite not being a character I would usually like, I kinda enjoy Sparkle in a "i would hate you irl but i find you fascinating in game' way. Masked Fools always struck me as an cool faction since their Aeon is a trickster god in a way. SO it makes sense of of their most notable Fool being a shapeshifting trickster who loves pushing people's buttons for fun. I'm pulling for her for having more DHIL ultity but man is she a piece of work.

I also really enjoyed Firefly as a character. Even tho I feel we didn't get to explore more of her character before you know what, I liked what we got. She was very cryptic about why she was a stowaway, and a lot of dialogue during her heart-to-heart definitely means something. Even what Clockie said about people being able to see him by being pure of heart probably holds more weight, but i guess will have to wait to see where that goes in future patches.

Nothing much, I just really liked this shot in the Dream's Edge area, and I think generally I enjoy Dream Edge the most out of all the Penacony 2.0 maps. The shooting stars are a nice touch too!

On that matter, I can't believe Star Rail introduced a sweet cute young girl, had us bond the majority of the quest-line with, ONLY to rip her from us in the most GRAPHIC WAY POSSIBLE!? ALL WHILE PLAYING "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking" AFTERWARDS?! WHAT THE HELL

what a way to show Penacony isn't playing games, and that the writers being from Honkai Impact 3rd show they aren't afraid to show that things in Penacony are taking LIVES!!

I also like Acheron in this scene after Firefly passed on and giving some funerary rites. A nice quiet moment after we got are hearts crushed by the Something onto Death entity. I also like how Black Swan has beein a patient guide after all this, trying to get the Trailblazer to a goal but because she can foresee events through Arcana and can see memories, shes been the most helpful on Penacony as of right now despite being an enigma

I also loved Sam's first introduction as he's always been mentioned by the other Stellaron Hunters as 'not picky' with his prey, doesn't play mind games and goes straight for the kill type. And man did he make an impression in the short amount of time he got.

And the end scene with Aventurine, there's a lot going on. While i don't completely agree with him on Acheron, he does have a point on her being suspicious. Especially if she killed Duke Inferno ALONE (rip Ifrit mains) and her Emanator powers truly do come from one of the destructive Aeons. Most likely Finality since KiaMei is as consistant as with BronSeele/lh

Also on a side not I hope Sunday gets to go apeshit soon, dude deserves it since his dear sister is dead too. Otherwise yeah I'm VERY invested in what Penacony has in store later on.

just finished the trailblaze mission the other day and immediately went to your blog bc i knew you'd be sane about it 😭 absolutely baffling to me but somehow not surprising that no one seems to care about the mystery like???? there's so much weird shit going on and such interesting pieces of lore about memoria and different factions and how they interact in this absolutely huge universe??? i also loved firefly i'm so sad that people don't seem to care much abt her :( she was so sweet and the fact that they touched on chronic illness w her character and her using the dreamscape as a way to escape from that reality... this patch was so so good in so many ways and i'd love to hear your thoughts if u have any!! :) (also the MUSIC???? if i can stop one heart from breaking had me in actual tears)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE FIREFLY i got another anon asking for my thoughts about what happened to her and i'm still kind of wrapping my head around. That. so i'll save all that for later! she's definitely a new favorite of mine, though. we didn't get to spend too much time with her but like yeah she won my heart pretty immediately. she was so... genuine? sure she hid a lot, but she didn't seem like she wanted to. it was more like she had to. not for her own sake, but for stelle's

that was the other thing that really got me! the bond she formed with stelle. like oh my god. they CONNECTED... stelle ADORES her. they felt so comfortable in each other's presence despite the wall firefly had to keep up... stelle picked up on the thing i just mentioned above: that firefly wasn't entirely honest not to give herself an advantage in the game of penacony (like aventurine and, to a degree, black swan) but to keep stelle safe in the midst of it. and it was for this reason that stelle chose to trust her. and to offer her genuine friendship in return

the entire sequence of exploring golden hour and then dream's edge with her was sooooo nice. it just made my heart feel at ease. and also yes if i could stop one heart from breaking is BEAUTIFUL and i want it on spotify rn. so i can loop it for 58347685673453485734 hours

my thoughts about the mystery on penacony as a whole are like. well:

the key to what caused firefly (... ?) and robin's deaths lies with misha and a child's dream

not saying that in the way some other hsr fans are and theorizing that misha's evil, btw. i really doubt that. this comes off more as a ... ralsei deltarune situation. two genuinely sweet kids who just want to go on adventures and live their lives but got mixed up in the fucked up inner workings of the worlds they live in

misha's grandpa is obviously a nameless and i'm 75% sure he's also the watchmaker (i say 75% because someone - a random npc, maybe firefly, or someone else, i really don't remember whose mouth it came out of - says that clockie was designed in the watchmaker's likeness and i don't think misha's grandpa is a talking clock . so. um. ...)

clockie is going to be a bigger part of the plot than he is now and there's totally going to be something fucked up underneath the cartoony exterior

aventurine stresses that we can't trust acheron because she's an emanator, but an emanator of who, i wonder...? her connection to the dream world, her memory problems, and the way some of her dialogue varies from player to player (INSANELY COOL TOUCH BTW) makes me want to say fuli. or possibly... IX. mythus? i guess lan and nanook are possibilities but i kind of really really really really doubt that

idk like i mentioned in the tags on a different ask i gotta properly explore penacony and read all the things i've picked up that i ignored in favor of finishing the trailblaze mission! and do the 53873453465786837 side quests i got from tinkering with people's emotions. Help. it'll probably help me theorize more! lots of little clues and foreshadowing strewn throughout the game's text, hehe...

i've REALLY enjoyed this update though. definitely sunk my brain even further into the hsr interest than it was before. penacony's cast is really dynamic and interesting (firefly, misha, and acheron are my faves here). also, the dreamscape pass is such a clever feature. really makes you feel like a tourist AND it's got lots of little morsels of lore inside. love it. uhg. i can't wait for the next big update i'm going to explode
