Roxas: if I pout will you say yes?
Axel: no wa- probably yeah
“If I pout will you say yes?”
Axel would have loved to have been able to deny that he’d cave-in like the halls of the Cave of Wonders if you touched gold you weren’t supposed to at the first sign that Roxas was even the least bit sad. Unfortunately, he wasn’t left with much choice other than the truth when Roxas’s eyes were already moist and the corners of his mouth downturned even before the blonde let out a long sigh and cast his doe eyes down toward his feet for a long moment before looking up through his lashes as Axel shifted his weight from foot to foot, almost as uncomfortable as the time Larxene had spent the bulk of one of their rare free days in the Castle That Never Was following him around, shooting bolts of electricity at his feet to repay him for certain jokes he’d made about her and Xigbar that the sniper found impossible to let go of or resist making his own commentary on despite the fact that anyone with eyes-- and even some Dusks that were lacking such novel advantages-- knew Xigbar’s interest lay largely in a certain musician and water manipulator.
“No, wha…” Axel attempted a huff of a laugh and rolled his eyes as if Roxas was being ridiculous, before breaking pretense quickly as his voice was already cracking, “Probably. Yeah.”
Roxas’s spine straightened as if pulled by a string, face already assembled into the rapt curiosity that was so intrinsically him when he met Axel’s eyes. “Wait. Don’t say yes though. I need to save this for something special. Will it work any time?”
“What are you worried about me saying no to?” Axel batted back Roxas’s question with one of his own, still trying to delay the inevitable revelation of just how securely he was wrapped around the short blonde’s finger. He was a bit curious as well. He’d proven he’d start revolutions, change his life, and face death for Roxas. What did Roxas think his limit was?
“Like if I suggested moving in to…”
Axel didn’t let him finish the last word. “Yes.”
“But I would want to live on…”
“Yes!”
“Axel, you don’t even know…”
“Yes! Anywhere. Any time.”
“Even if I…?”
“Roxas. Yes.”
“Yes?” A hopeful look that said Roxas was still struggling to accept it.
“Yes.” A crinkle-eyed smile. Axel would gladly take the creases.
“Yes!” Roxas pumped his fist in the air.
Pouting could now be reserved for adopting a cat.
