Oh joy, fireworks go on sale in my county today. Which means: it's time for Gemma's Firework Reminders!
Please, please, please, if you participate in shooting off fireworks, be considerate of your neighbors and don't do it for a week straight.
Your neighbors might be veterans. Some of the fireworks you can purchase are very similar in percussion to explosives used in the field. (Also, don't shoot firearms in conjunction with fireworks! That shouldn't need to be said.)
Consider the ecological impact of fireworks on your local fauna. (Hint: it's not good - if your pet hates it and they're inside, how do the birds outside feel?) Not to mention all the trash and debris that's left over after you're done having fun.
And please for the love of everything - if you insist on spending your money on exploding particulates, practice fire safety. Have a bucket of water, extinguish everything, don't shoot them into a tree (yes I've seen it with my own eyes), and remember that these are LITERALLY small short-term fires.
I fully expect to hear of at least five injuries, one fatality, and at least one fire as a result of this holiday in my community this year. Don't let it be you.
Attend and support your community sponsored events, because those are handled by professionals and often have fail safes built into them.
Be safe and considerate, that's all I'm asking.

It drives me a little insane that the episode with the fallout of Villetta shoting Ohgi because of her conflicting allegiances to her lover and Britannia is the same episode that Suzaku and Lelouch shot eachother and struggled with his conflicting loyalties to his best friend and to Britannia and his morals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know Ohgi and Villetta the canon romantic couple and their relationship was directly paired and parallels with Suzaku and Lelouch. Adding to my Sazaku Lelouch shipping conspiracy board!

A Space Adventure (Closed RP w/ @hellforestrp)
Tumblr media
Kallen looked around for Sirius, but couldn't find anything. Brigade members filled the halls, and she had to hold back glares. She hated what the place had become, but held back, knowing her friend was still here. She finally reached the observation room, and opened the door to see Sirius looking at the stars, "I was looking all over for you. Why didn't you respond to my calls?"

CC, Kallen, and Shirley want something from Lelouch while Lelouch has only wanted something from one person: Suzaku. This isn’t a shipping post, but another observation in the theme of Code Geass and how it’s been woven into Lelouch’s complicated relationships.
The three love interests of Lelouch represent his three masks that he has compartmentalized to calculate his behavior. He is the vengeful partner-in-crime around CC. He is the charismatic leader around Kallen. He is the kind and loving brother around Shirley. Lelouch fits himself to these molds separately because he understands that by playing the role, he can succeed. He won’t make mistakes. He would be accepted.
After having been rejected by his father, and then losing the short-lived happiness when his family invades the country he was in, practically saying he was abandoned, Lelouch was forced to become dishonest. He had to live a lie, and this lie became his strength. His power. His specialty. Lies protected Lelouch, but lies also protected anyone. People lie for the sake of their happiness for they lived in a world where being weak was a sin.
Lelouch knowingly navigated his life of lie transanctionally, because he could neither live truthfully nor shamelessly. He had to appease the contradictions of not behaving like the people he hated, yet not showing altruism and trust in fear that it would be his death and downfall.
So for Lelouch to seek others, to seek someone as a request is enormous. It is a matter of pride he had managed to build while he feeling great shame with his life of lies. And it is also a matter of faith, with no rationality or deception. Lelouch believed in something as vague as friendship, and the recipient has always been Suzaku.
He wants something from Suzaku and even throughout their fallouts, he never felt like he had something to give him in return. And this is because he knows Suzaku will honor it. He will do the right thing. He will betray his beliefs if it’s for his friends - as he had killed his own father for them. Suzaku isn’t cunning like him. And Suzaku knows Lelouch. Suzaku knows every side of him. The good and the terrible.
And the biggest part of why is this: Suzaku doesn’t want anything from Lelouch.
Ever since he and Nunnally entered in their lives, Suzaku had nothing to gain. He only had something to lose by risking his neck for two abandoned royals of the most hated country. Lelouch, who had just been blindsided by people who made him feel safe, realized how special this was. That a foreign stranger who had every reason to hate him, a child surrounded by powerful adults, would be the one ready to die for him and Nunnally.
It isn’t that CC, Kallen, and Shirley would do any less for Lelouch. They do love him, but the ironic problem is: they want to be with him and for Lelouch, this is a problem. He has struggled with how organic and human relationships are supposed to be. But because of the summer spent with Suzaku, Lelouch still remembers how that bond is supposed to be. One that isn’t about pleasing others, but on relying on others.
Lelouch doesn’t want to get hurt, but he also doesn’t want to hurt others. He knows he is more likely to cause pain than comfort.
He sees Suzaku as someone strong and, plainly speaking, his hero. He wants to be like Suzaku who was both honest and strong.
And I think that also added to Suzaku’s spiral. Lelouch didn’t see how deep his scars went. After finding out Suzaku killed his own father, Lelouch merely provided strong approval, thinking the validation would give him confidence. He points out that Suzaku’s actions did indeed to a more peaceful end to the war, exactly what the other smartest character, Schneizel says. He didn’t understand that it was never about the results. It was the deep unhappiness of having to live in a kind of world where killing your own father could be a right thing. Suzaku says this outright when he goes after Charles so that Lelouch wouldn’t have to kill his own father. He knew the pain, and he didn’t want the world to continue working on this tragic and sad rationality.
Code Geass really is about Lelouch and Suzaku. Lelouch’s other relationships are important, but the one he has with Suzaku is the clearest look into his character. Lelouch was woefully starstruck with Suzaku, who was struggling to find a reason to live in a cruel world - one that he blatantly rejects very early on when Zero first made his appearance by rescuing him.

ignore the fact im writing this now bc i'm going to forget if i dont talk about it soon lmao
but idk... like I still don't understand the connection between the Sakura of the Previous Era and then the Sakura in Sakura Samsara, but finding out that it's the same Herrscher that dooms both of them just makes Sakura such a tragic character who just is stuck on the same loop of same things happening to her again and again (maybe it's fitting then we meet her in Sakura Samsara first of all places...)
Both Sakuras take so much pride in being the older sister to their sisters and having to watch as their sisters get pried out of their hands from external forces. The thing that dooms them both is their love for their sisters: Previous Era Sakura who walked into her doom knowing that she's probably going to die, but not wanting to leave her sister alone if there was a chance that she was still somehow alive, and Village Sakura who let the hatred towards her village and humanity as a whole eat her up and allow for the Herrscher to possess her
Also the fact that the Herrscher that possessed Previous Era's sister is the same one that possesses Village Sakura. She's just stuck on a loop. Please let this girl rest, my god.
remind me to go cry about sakura in like a few hours when renal isnt kicking my ass

Why does Shirley have to die?
Tumblr media
One of the most frequent comments I found while browsing when I entered this fandom and it bothered me greatly was that Shirley's death was useless, which reflected a lack of understanding of the series and the character of Shirley and her relationship with Lelouch and Suzaku. So today I'll explain what the effects of Shirley's murder were.
Broadly speaking, Shirley's murder serves as a catalyst between the first and second half of the second season. Likewise, Shirley's sad murder resonates with the main theme of the series and influences the narrative arcs of Lelouch and Suzaku.
Tumblr media
1. Shirley's death was what pushed Lelouch to change his plans for the Geass Cult. Instead of controlling the orphans who had been turned into Geass users, Lelouch decided to destroy the Geass Cult by decimating the children and scientists who participated in the project by organizing a clandestine operation with the Black Knights.
Tumblr media
1.1. This operation will later become one of the reasons why the Black Knights will betray Lelouch. It's information that is leaked to Asahina, a member of the Four Holy Swords, and reaches through him Tohdoh, who, together with Ohgi, were the ones who convinced the rest of the Black Knights that they were angry with Zero for abandoning them in the middle of the takeove of the Tokyo Settlement. So the massacre of the Geass Cult influenced the betrayal of Tohdoh, one of the pillars in the Order of the Black Knights and most loyal to their leader.
Tumblr media
1.2. Additionally, the Black Knights' attack on the Geass Cult resulted in the death of V.V. and attracted the Emperor who took the code from V.V. and then attempted to initiate the Ragnarök Connection in episode 15, but C.C. prevented this by sealing her code and suppressing her memories. Something that will influence Lelouch's isolation. Also, in the massacre of the Geass Cult, Lelouch captured Cornelia, which will be important in the future.
Tumblr media
2. Shirley's death was what pushed Suzaku over the edge and motivated him to coerce Kallen through refrain to get confirmation that Zero was behind her murder. About to do so, Suzaku realized that he was about to become completely corrupted and begins to rethink his beliefs and methods for the first time. It's because of this incident with Kallen that Suzaku is willing to reunite with Lelouch and team up with him, even if it means abandoning Britannia. But, well, Schneizel ambushes the two former friends and makes Lelouch believe that Suzaku betrayed him once again. Consequently, Lelouch is determined to kill Suzaku in revenge, but it turns out badly due to the cursed order he gave him long ago and which causes the total annihilation of the Tokyo Settlement, something that will mark a turning point in Suzaku's narrative arc and It will also affect Lelouch...
Tumblr media
3. Shirley's death was a turning point in Lelouch and Rolo's relationship. It was a relationship in which love and hate were quite balanced, but, after this event, Lelouch leaned towards hate. I'll talk more about this point in my analysis of Rolo's motivations for killing Shirley, so that's all I'll say for now. I'll add that, if Mao made him realize that Geass can corrupt the user and Euphemia's death made Lelouch realize that Geass is an evil power, Shirley's death made Lelouch realize that Geass will condemn him to isolation (damn, Lelouch saw a lot of red flags and kept going; I don't know whether to call it idiocy or determination). At the same time, he realized how terrible the power of Geass is in the hands of a child and became terrified that all Geass users were like Rolo, which is why he thinks it is better to eradicate the Geass Cult and not control them.
Tumblr media
4. Shirley's death is linked to the main theme of the series (will) and, in a certain way, influenced the epiphany that Lelouch will have in the final stretch of the series. Rolo didn't get into a vehicle, he drove to Shirley's house and got out to shoot her. No. Shirley was murdered, following her will. She abandoned the security force that was guarding her because she wanted to offer her help to Lelouch. To paraphrase Lelouch's words to Schneizel in the series' penultimate episode, people are actively seeking happiness, and for Shirley, her happiness was with Lelouch. Even though Lelouch erases her memory over and over again to protect her, Shirley will always do what her will dictates, and that includes falling in love with him again. Shirley's firm resolve, added to that of other characters, is what teaches Lelouch to value human beings' will and constant pursuit of happiness.
Tumblr media
In short, Shirley's death is what leads to most of the events that occur in the second part of R2. Without that, the Zero Requiem doesn't even take place. For all this, it is ridiculous that the alternate universe continues with the same events as the canonical universe, but, well, nothing makes sense in the alternate universe (hence it is complete garbage and I'll maintain this statement until the last day of my existence.)
Having said that. If anyone still wants to be angry about Shirley's death, they have to change their focus on her. The point isn't that Shirley's murder adds nothing to the plot (we already saw that it isn't true); but this seems to show that Shirley is a "woman in refrigerator." This is a term coined by Gail Simone to refer to female characters who face disproportionate harm, which will serve as a plot device to motivate male characters. The term was used to talk about situations in Western comics, but can be extrapolated to other media. Is Shirley a "woman in refrigerator"? I would say yes, but I think that term should be applied when there are female characters who have great potential and the authors don't exploit it, but rather prefer to reduce them to a motivation for the current male hero. And Shirley is not Kallen (an action heroine and Knightmare pilot, whose talent and skill can change the flow of a battle), she is not C.C. (an Immortal Witch who knows all the secrets of Geass and is clandestinely working with our protagonist's worst enemy for her own interests), she is not Euphemia (a princess in the Holy Empire of Britannia who can challenge the status quo and change the system from the inside), she is not Nina (a prodigy in science, capable of creating a weapon of mass destruction). She's only Shirley. An innocent civilian trapped in a bloody war. She cannot contribute more than she can, so let's not ask for pears from the elm.
I really wanted to write this analysis! I just removed a thorn that was stuck. I feel better.

Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader / Loki x Fem!Reader
Premise: Y/N Rogers was sent away as a child, her powers deemed dangerous. After years of brief summers with Steve and Bucky, she returns for good when their mother dies—just as war begins.
As her abilities awaken, she draws the attention of Loki, the trickster god, and faces growing fear from those around her. Caught between destiny, war, and forbidden ties, Y/N must decide who she truly is—and who she’s willing to fight for.
Warnings/content: slight angst, brief mention of death/dying, jealousy, sexual assault, fluff, swearing, unstable parental relationships, follows the plot of the MCU timeline, with small changes.
[Masterlist]
[Part 1]
(Chapter 11)
Not on a Goodbye
Tumblr media
The moment he pulled her close, everything around them seemed to slow. The room, the music, the laughter—it all faded, reduced to a distant hum in the background. The only thing that mattered was the warmth of his hands against her waist, the way his fingers splayed just slightly, grounding her.
She swallowed hard, hating the way her heart betrayed her, pounding in her chest, threatening to give her away.
“You’ve been quiet tonight,” Bucky murmured, his breath warm against her ear.
She forced a smirk. “Nothing much to say.”
He hummed, his thumb brushing absently against the fabric of her dress. “That doesn’t sound like you.”
She scoffed. “Maybe I’m tired of talking.”
“Or maybe,” he countered, voice low, “you’re tired of pretending.”
Y/N’s breath hitched.
Her grip on his shoulder tightened, nails pressing just a little too hard against the rough wool of his uniform. The weight of his words settled between them, thick and heavy, filling the space they had spent months trying to ignore.
He wasn’t smiling anymore.
His usual easy-going confidence was gone, replaced with something raw—something that made her chest ache.
Don’t do this, Bucky.
Not tonight. Not when he was leaving.
Her eyes flicked away, fixing on a spot over his shoulder, desperate to hold on to whatever restraint she had left. But Bucky wasn’t having it. His fingers lifted slightly, brushing against the exposed skin at the nape of her neck, a barely-there touch that sent shivers down her spine.
He was close now, closer than he should be. Close enough that if she leaned in just slightly, if she let herself give in to this moment, his lips would be right there, a breath away.
She exhaled sharply. Damn him.
He knew what he was doing.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said finally, but even she didn’t believe it.
Bucky tilted his head, his blue eyes dark under the dim lights of the bar. “You sure about that, doll?”
She clenched her jaw. “You have a date, Bucky.”
His hold on her waist tightened—not painfully, but enough that she felt it. Enough that it made her stomach flip. “Is that what this is about?”
She forced a hollow laugh. “Why would it be about anything?”
His lips parted slightly, his gaze flickering across her face, searching for something she wasn’t ready to give him.
Then, softer—barely a whisper:
“Because it’s you.”
Her breath caught.
She looked up at him, her pulse hammering against her ribs, a sudden rush of anger, of frustration, of something deeper rising in her throat.
“You don’t get to do this,” she whispered. “Not now.”
“Do what?”
“Act like this matters.”
His expression shifted, something breaking behind his eyes. “It does.”
She let out a shaky breath, shaking her head. “No. No, it doesn’t. Not to you.”
His jaw tightened, a muscle feathering at the corner. “You really believe that?”
She hated the way her resolve wavered, how her body betrayed her, leaning into him instead of pulling away.
“You’re leaving,” she reminded him, her voice trembling. “Tomorrow, you’ll be gone. Off to war, off to some new city, some new girl—”
His grip on her hand tightened instantly.
“Don’t,” he said sharply, his voice low, almost desperate. “Don’t do that.”
She stared up at him, wide-eyed. She had never seen him like this before—not this unguarded, not this open.
Her chest heaved, her hands gripping the front of his uniform as if to push him away, but she didn’t. She couldn’t.
Bucky exhaled slowly, his forehead nearly brushing against hers. “You think I don’t see you?” he murmured. “You think I don’t—” He cut himself off, shaking his head. “Hell, Y/N, I’ve spent months trying to stay away, trying to do the right thing. But every damn time I look at you—”
He exhaled sharply, closing his eyes for half a second before meeting hers again.
“I never stood a chance.”
Her throat tightened, a thousand emotions crashing into her at once.
She wanted to yell at him. To hit him. To tell him he was being cruel—because he was. Because this wasn’t fair.
She had spent so long pretending it didn’t matter, pretending he was just Bucky, just her brother’s best friend, just a flirt with a thousand women on his arm. She had convinced herself that what she felt wasn’t real, that it was just fleeting, temporary, meaningless.
But standing here, with his hands on her waist, his breath against her lips, his voice rough with something undeniable—
She knew.
It had never been meaningless.
She clenched her jaw, pushing back the heat behind her eyes. “Then why?”
His brows furrowed.
“Why what?”
“Why now?” Her voice cracked slightly, and she hated herself for it. “Why are you saying this now, when you’re leaving tomorrow? When I have to watch you go?”
His hands slid up her arms, his touch so painfully gentle it almost broke her.
“Because if I don’t say it now,” he said softly, “I might never get the chance.”
Her breath stilled.
Neither of them spoke. Neither of them moved.
Because the next step—the next decision—would change everything.
And then—
“I’m leaving.”
Claire’s voice cut through the tension like a knife.
Y/N sucked in a sharp breath, stepping back instantly, as if Bucky’s touch had burned her.
Claire stood a few feet away, arms crossed, glaring at Bucky. “Obviously, you’ve got unfinished business here.”
Bucky dragged a hand through his hair, his jaw clenching. “Claire—”
“Save it.”
And then—a slap. Sharp and precise across his cheek.
Y/N stared, half in shock, half in amusement, biting the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing.
Claire spun on her heel and disappeared into the crowd.
Bucky turned back to Y/N, expecting some teasing remark, some sarcastic quip to break the moment.
But she wasn’t laughing.
She was staring at him, something in her eyes—something that looked a lot like heartbreak.
And suddenly, the slap didn’t feel like the worst part of his night.
“I should go.” Her voice was quiet.
Bucky’s stomach dropped. “Don’t.”
Her breath hitched. “Bucky, this—”
He shook his head, stepping closer. “Not tonight.”
She swallowed hard, her eyes pleading for something—but he didn’t know what.
“I can’t.” Her voice was barely there.
Then she turned and walked away.
For a moment, Bucky just stood there, frozen in place. Watching her go.
And then—he moved.
His feet carried him forward before his brain could catch up, pushing through the bar doors, into the cool night air.
“Y/N, wait.” His voice was quieter than he intended, but still, she didn’t stop. He caught up to her, fingers ghosting over her wrist before gently closing around it.
She turned slightly, her expression guarded.
He let out a shaky laugh, the sound barely there. “I stayed away because of Steve. Because I thought I should.” He swallowed, forcing himself to meet her gaze. “But no matter what I did, it was always you.”
She searched his face, uncertainty warring with something dangerous in her chest. Her attention was drawn to his new dog tags he had acquired in preparation.
SERGEANT JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES
107th BATTALION.
And she realised in that moment, she couldn't put them through this. She couldn't put herself through this.
“But not like this,” she whispered. “Not on a goodbye.”
His thumb brushed over her knuckles, lingering.
“Then save a kiss for me,” he murmured. “For when I’m back.”
She didn’t respond.
But as she pulled away, he swore he saw the smallest of smiles. A glimmer of hope to keep him going in the hell he was about to enter.

SRW DD: Rolo becomes a bird
Remember this post? I'd still been checking playthroughs of Super Robot Wars DD now and then, but only recently found out that Rolo died at least a couple months ago already. Most of his lines up to his final scenes are the same as R2's, but there's some small differences that I want to talk about below. By the way, since I don't think the following screenshot needs its own post, Fukkatsu's story was wrapped up last week in Lost Stories, and Rolo's spirit could be seen saving Nunnally together with Euphy (Shirley is there too, but she holds Lelouch):
Tumblr media
Back to SRW DD:
I said most of his lines are the same as R2's, but the events themselves are more similar to the movies, because Shirley never dies. The biggest difference is that in SRW DD there's a noticeable time gap between Turns 18 and 19: Lelouch doesn't completely lose his will to live after Nunnally "goes missing," as he nonetheless wants to defeat Charles, so the story continues with Lelouch still keeping Rolo and the others around after FLEIJA. He never flies into a rage at Rolo (except for the "Don't lie to me!" moment during that phone call, but that's it). So Lelouch/Zero has been pretending that he's fine for some time (days? Weeks?), but he does miss Nunnally:
Tumblr media
C.C.: That locket... It's pretty.
Tumblr media
Kallen: Rolo, whenever something happens, you often grasp it tightly, huh?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rolo: I calm down when I hold this. Because it's what I really wanted... The precious birthday present that I received from Brother. (They are so friendly! Cute)
Tumblr media
Lelouch: No... That was something to give Nunnally...
Tumblr media
Rolo: Eh?
Tumblr media
Lelouch: ...!
Tumblr media
Rolo: Wasn't it a present for me? (Turn 19.02's Rolo was very aware that Lelouch's kindness wasn't for him. This Rolo is a bit slow instead.)
Tumblr media
Lelouch: ...
Tumblr media
Kallen: (Lelouch... It seemed like he had recovered, but he's been carrying the loss of Nunnally all this time, after all…)
Tumblr media
Lelouch: Sorry, please forget what I just said. Rolo, the fact that you are my precious little brother doesn't change.
Tumblr media
Rolo: Brother... (Hello, Geass writers, will Rolo ever be allowed to smile for more than 10 seconds?!) While this conversation is taking place, Schneizel and the Black Knights are talking. Soon they are all going to turn against Zero. And that's when...
Tumblr media
Rolo: Yes. I rescued you from that place with my barrier of absolute suspension. Rolo rescues Lelouch, except in this version, there hasn't yet been any scene of Lelouch telling Rolo that he hates him!
Tumblr media
Lelouch: So that was it, indeed. Rolo, don't overuse that power.
Tumblr media
Rolo: It's okay. At any rate, I'm going to protect you no matter what. (Rolo, "daijoubu" doesn't mean "I'm ready to give up my life"...) Cornelia and Anya attack, and Lelouch gets more worried:
Tumblr media
Lelouch: Using your Geass over such a large area...! Rolo, your heart won't be able to take it anymore...!
Tumblr media
Rolo: Don't stop me, Brother! I...!
Tumblr media
Lelouch: Stop, Rolo! I... hate you!
Tumblr media
Rolo: !?
Tumblr media
Lelouch: You can't replace Nunnally! I don't need you anymore! So... Holy tsundereness, they managed to make Lelouch's "I hate you" adorable?! In this context, he's clearly only saying that to stop Rolo from sacrificing himself, and he even adds "So..." at the end, to make it more obvious that he means "So stop using your Geass!" But, unlike that IF route from Taisen Z Saisei-hen, this Super Robot Wars won't spare Rolo's life:
Tumblr media
Rolo: ... That can't be, Brother. Because... Rolo's and Lelouch's lines afterwards are the same as R2's, the only difference being that, in this story, Lelouch didn't say that he wanted to kill Rolo.
Tumblr media
Rolo: It's a lie, right? That you hate me... ---
I hope that, next time, I can translate something which isn't about Rolo dying, but for now, I'm happy that this Lelouch kind of stayed nice to Rolo all throughout the story.

HERE IS WHY SHIRLULU IS A LEGITIMATE SHIP -PART 1
Warning: I'm not a writer and English is not my native language. So kindly bare it or DM me about it. Criticism is welcomed not hate.
I always wanted to post a detailed analysis of  Shirley X Lelouch  relationship and will post in parts due to Tumblr restricted on images.
Fun fact- I started watching Code Geass with all the spoilers (deaths) and was fully expecting to be part of the Cclulu or Kalulu fanbase (because they are popular), but as I continued watching, I couldn't understand why Shirlulu had a minor fanbase and was ignored when their feelings were so obvious. Needless to say I became a Shirlulu shipper.
Let's start -
Shirley and Lelouch loved each other.
While Shirley's feeling are so obvious.
Lelouch's feelings are hinted throughout the series (both direct and subtle hints), which are often ignored as filler or brushed off as "guilt" for killing her father (which is not the case).
There are people who dislike Shirley just because she is not "useful" like other girls. Let me tell you it's called a business deal and not love if you are going to choose a person based on their "usefulness."
Let's start with Direct hints
R1 Stage 14 -
although the whole episode is dedicated to Shirlulu and their relationship. I'm focusing  only on the bits right now.
Lelouch, being dense when it comes to love, didn't realize his feelings until he lost her. Lelouch really cherished her presence in his life.
Tumblr media
When I first watched CG , I really didn't expect that Lelouch would say such a romantic line especially for Shirley ( the ship so unpopular) and I repeat NO ONE would say this for a platonic friendship.
I was suspicious of Lelouch's feelings but this episode made it crystal clear that's its mutual , it's just Lelouch didn't realize it before.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I would love to see them bicker and laugh it off after patching up
Tumblr media
R1 Stage 12 & 14 -
IIrc, Shirley is the only girl whom Lelouch kissed back.
Personally I don't think he kissed her back due to guilt over killing her father but more like doing anything he could to comfort her.
He could have kissed Kallen if guilt was the reason but he only let her kiss him.
Tumblr media
R1 Stage 14 -
"Any sin you commit is mine to bear" is the love language of Lelouch. If we consider Lelouch's personality.
He is not type to buy flowers and chocolates and he is the type who would do everything in power to hide the evidence of murder and going far to even take the blame for it.
Tumblr media
Ranked as one of the best anime hugs and only hug scene in code geass series. The way Lelouch pulls her into a hug is everything
Tumblr media
R2 Stage 12 -
Shirley felt Lelouch was lying about his feelings for her. His immediate response was a hard " No". Once he realized that blurted out his feelings, he tried to cover it up.
The reason was because he wanted to protect her, he did not want her get involved in dangerous stuff ( mao trauma) and he is too busy and cannot afford to be in a relationship. He doesn't want to be neglectful boyfriend to her because she doesn't deserve it.
This alone should be a proof that Shirley's feelings are reciprocated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
R2 Stage 24 -
Lelouch was arguing with Schneizel about how people struggle against sadness yet still seek the future.
The first scene that played was Shirley's death, symbolizing that Lelouch's struggle against sadness was Shirley's death and how he still he continued to seeks a future.
Tumblr media
R2 Stage 25 -
Lelouch was dying, the first person that came to his mind was Shirley (it was just chronological order S2-S1 after that), and his last image was his childhood with Suzaku and Nunnally. The Special ones in Lelouch's life
Many people chose to ignore this moment but this one is undeniable proof that Lelouch never moved on from Shirley

Minor Luocha and Firefly analysis+Penacony Spoilers read at your behest
If Firefly is a Kallen Expy like I’ve seen some people suggest I hope she and Luocha stay 2747388274383774744747 miles away from each other forever.
Their dynamic in HI3 is certainly something and as somebody who doesn’t play HI3 I’m quite fascinated by Otto’s religious adoration of her where he seems to love her in the sense of somebody worshipping a god or saint probably due to the religious setting he was raised in and her role as his “savior” (I have no idea what I’m talking about I have Vague Understanding and that’s it) but also I like how HSR is treating their characters right now individual of each other.
Seeing Luocha act the way he does feels so much more fulfilling with the current understanding that Kallen isn’t impacting his decisions. He’s kind because he wants to be, because he likes being kind, because he’s a healer and healers make people’s lives easier and better quality and not because he’s upholding somebody else’s ideal. Plus, his relationship with Yaoshi, immortality, and rebirth and being disgusted by it is so much richer in my opinion. When Jingliu says he has a void in his heart that can’t be filled, with how he’s trying so hard to insist he’s normal and human, how he’s got serious parallels to Jesus but he’s turning against his god because he does not want to wear this crown of thorns, he does not have to in order to save those who need saving.
And Firefly, a girl who’s living on borrowed time, who’s losing her body and is desperately trying to cling to any sense of freedom, who seeks the warmth of the Trailblazer’s Stellaron heart because it’s better than the cold clinic she’s alluded to be being stuck in. Fireflies only live for two months and they use that precious time frantically sending out little bursts of light to find company in a responding signal. A shooting star is only there long enough to be wished on for something greater before it’s swallowed by the night again. Isn’t it only natural to ache for more time? To hide from Death in the arms of its brother, Sleep? To remain in this Golden Hour just before the reset of the clock reminds you that you are fading and a hour is just that, a hour, no matter how golden?
In a way, their roles have reversed. Firefly is now the one scared of death and desperately seeking a way to circumvent it even if it means hurting or deceiving while Luocha is doing his best to be a good person while also wrestling with the opposition of people who hate him on the principle of his circumstances.
I don’t think Luocha could ever be Otto. They share the same looks and the same traits yes, but they seem to have gone down completely different paths. Same thing for Firefly and Kallen if they are alternate versions of each other.
And if they ever do meet, I hope it’s a sparse glance, an eye contact, and then they merely pass each other on the street and think nothing more of who the other might’ve been.
