Ikemen Sengoku Drama CD 2: Summer Camp in No Man’s Island! Sengoku Survivors ~ Ieyasu VS Masamune VS Mitsunari ~ Part Three [END]
**Please don’t move this translation or claim it as your own.**
Note: I will mainly be focusing on the Chinese subtitles, with light cross-referencing of the Japanese, since the former is the one I’m more comfortable working with. There may be some slight differences between the languages, but the general story should be the same. Enjoy!
Masamune: Sashimi made from the master of these seas and the One-Eyed Dragon’s miso mushroom stew - done!
Mitsunari: How luxurious! Well, then, thank you for the food.
Masamune: Thank you for the food.
Masamune: When there’s food around, you should eat it. You won’t survive in an emergency if you don’t. Looks like when it comes to survival, me and Mitsunari are even in skill.
Ieyasu: I never said I was going to participate in the beginning.
Masamune: But you didn’t escape by jumping the boat, and came here anyway.
Mitsunari: When it came to exploring an uninhabited island, you were making an enthusiastic expression as well!
Ieyasu: So you saw it...
Masamune: So it was like that. You still want to say you weren’t excited for this?
Ieyasu: That’s... just... because I was thinking about telling that girl what happened next time I saw her...
Masamune: Heeh~ so it was for her? I see.
Ieyasu: Let me just say; there’s no deeper meaning to it.
Masamune: Hooh.
Ieyasu: Please don’t pet my head like I’m some sort of dog.
Mitsunari: !!
(1:35)
Masamune: Mitsunari? What’s wrong?
Mitsunari: For some reason... my body... got really hot...
Ieyasu: Hey- don’t collapse in a place like this! Pull yourself together!
Mitsunari: Ugh! (slap)
Ieyasu: Ouch-!
Mitsunari: Oi. Don’t touch me. Or I WILL explode. (T/N: Mitsunari is now referring to himself with ‘ore’, a rougher more manlier self-pronoun, and finishes his sentence with ‘-ze’ instead of polite ‘desu’ which is more forceful and masculine.)
Ieyasu: ... What?
Masamune: Mitsunari, what exactly- ugh...
Ieyasu: Masamune-san too... are you alright?
Masamune: I am fine. If perhaps, I did fall here, then that is my fate. (T/N: Masamune is speaking in polite form, how Mitsunari would normally talk.)
Ieyasu: Eh. Ehh? Eh? ... Do you two... have a fever? God, your foreheads are burning! What- ... Don’t tell me it’s this mushroom stew? ... I knew it.
Mitsunari: What?
Masamune: What is it?
Ieyasu: There’s poisonous mushrooms in here. Judging by the color and the shape, it’s probably the Character-Changing Mushroom.
Masamune & Mitsuhide: Character-Changing Mushroom?
Ieyasu: When you eat it, your personality changes into something that you’re usually not compatible with. It’s a scary mushroom. Mitsunari, you just randomly dumped in a whole lot of mushrooms, didn’t you?
Mitsunari: Just thought it would be nutritious. If you got any complaints, I’ll be your opponent.
Ieyasu: Your attitude actually makes me more angry...
Masamune: Please do not be angry, Ieyasu-sama. It is more wonderful when you smile.
Ieyasu: Ugh, this is so annoying. ... It looks this is the right measure to take, then.
Masamune: That is... the grass from before?
Ieyasu: I’ll put them on this rock... mash it... then boil some water... that should do. Here. Drink it.
Masamune: Even though this dark green... is unappealing to look at.
Mitsunari: Ugh! The flavour is so goddamn intense! I’m gonna die if I drink this stuff!
Ieyasu: Just drink it!
Mitsunari: Gross- oh... It looks like my body temperature is going back down.
Masamune: You’re right. My head feels clearer. I also feel like I had a bad nightmare...
Ieyasu: Great, looks like it worked.
(4:18)
Masamune: Was that medicine you made just now?
Ieyasu: I found some plants that can neutralize poison so I picked them. Didn’t know that I would use them like this though.
Mitsunari: Ieyasu-sama, to have troubled you like this, I’m truly sorry.
Masamune: Thanks, Ieyasu. So, this competition about our survival skills - I guess you won today.
Ieyasu: Eh?
Masamune: No objections, Mitsunari?
Mitsunari: Yes! Of course. It was Ieyasu that saved our lives, after all.
Ieyasu: Stop exaggerating. That poisonous mushroom wasn’t life threatening. Well, in a way you did almost lose something that was more important than your life.
Masamune: Ieyasu, I’ll definitely repay you.
Ieyasu: You don’t have to... there just happened to be medicinal grass growing nearby. You don’t have to repay me anything. Besides, this competition... wasn’t not fun.
Masamune: Hm~ Looks like our plan worked.
Ieyasu: Plan?
Mitsunari: A certain somebody came to talk to me and Masamune-sama before she left with Nobunaga for an inspection trip. She said she was concerned about Ieyasu-sama who was always reading, so she hoped we could bring you outside for a bit.
Ieyasu: Eh? That girl did?
Masamune: We knew that if you just invited you like we normally do, you’d definitely say no. So we just randomly threw together a competition as bait since you never admit defeat.
Ieyasu: So because of that, you took me to this island?
Masamune: Even if it was just an excuse to get you outside, I really planned to enjoy myself, so I used a lot of effort to find a place.
Ieyasu: You’re joking... I can’t believe it.
Mitsunari: We’re sorry for hiding it from you.
Ieyasu: If you could fix everything by just saying sorry, then we wouldn’t need warlords. How could I have taken the bait so easily...? Looks like I still have some ways to go. ...I guess I have to concentrate more on studying.
(6:21)
Masamune: Oi, Ieyasu, where are you going/?
Ieyasu: Back home. So I can keep reading my books.
Masamune: Hey! Don’t push the boat out without warning!
Ieyasu: Can’t hear you! If you don’t hurry and get over here I’m going to leave you behind.
Mitsunari: Ieyasu-sama, please wait for us!
Ieyasu: The shore... is pretty far away. ... Today was a terrible day.
Masamune: Stop grumbling, Ieyasu. Look at the sky.
Ieyasu: Eh? Ah...
Mitsunari: Wow... the stars look like they’re about to fall.
Masamune: This scenery... it would be nice if we could show it to that girl.
Mitsunari: Yes, it would be wonderful if that person was here.
Ieyasu: I suppose.
Masamune: Hm? You think so too?
Ieyasu: Ah- I guess...
Mitsunari: I’m looking forward to her coming back.
Masamune: To us, that girl is an existence that is like the sun. Even when we’re in the dark like this, we want to see her again as soon as possible.
Mitsunari: Truly.
Ieyasu: If you meant that she irritates people then I agree. That said, thanks to that girl who talked about weird things with you two, I had a terrible time.
Mitsunari: Are you still angry?
Ieyasu: Not really. Whatever. Besides, if I stayed in my room all day, it would get too hot and it would be too hard to read. So...
Masamune: So what?
Ieyasu: Didn’t I say it already? It wasn’t... not fun.
Mitsunari: Ieyasu-sama...
Masamune: Good grief, just be honest and say it was fun.
Ieyasu: But it wasn’t fun.
Mitsunari: I’m relieved to see that you have forgiven the both of us. ... Oh dear, being relieved has made me feel sleepy.
Masamune: Now that you say it, so am I. Playing around has tired me out a bit.
Ieyasu: You two just got better from your illness, at least rest a bit. There’s a tailwind so we don’t have to row that much to get the boat going.
Masamune: Sorry, guess I’ll just do that then. ...Night.
Mitsunari: Goodnight.
(9:05)
Ieyasu (monologuing): Looks like I was just made to run in circles today. If it was the old me, I would have thought that spending the whole day playing around would be a waste of time. Weird, isn’t it. It must be because of that girl’s influence. ...There’s so many stars. And all the clouds are gone too. Will you be as dazzling as the sun like an idiot tomorrow, as well? So warm that its irritating, radiant; even though sometimes there are moments where I just want to run away because you’re so bright- now... I... really look forward to seeing the sun rise. ... I’ve made up my mind. When that girl comes back, I’ll be the first to tell her what happened today. And I’ll... make her laugh. I... want her smiling face all to myself.

Asakusa: Home of Tempura Opens Third Branch at Ayala Malls Feliz
Azakusa: Home of Tempura has just launched its third and newest branch at the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig City. The popular tempura restaurant has been slowly but surely expanding its presence in Metro Manila after opening its pioneer outlet at The Grove by Rockwell in 2015 and at Ayala Malls Vertis in 2017. Now, foodies from the East can enjoy their sumptuous tempura sets and look forward to a fulfilling Asakusa experience.
You can find the new restaurant at the third floor of Ayala Malls Feliz along Marcos Highway in Pasig. This relatively new mall is an exciting new location to visit for those who live near Aurora Boulevard, Katipunan Avenue, and Cainta. It also houses the biggest Timezone branch in the country which even has its own trampoline park and bowling lanes. Families visiting the mall now have another place to take the kids afterwards as Asakusa: Home of Tempura brings its Japanese specialties to the neighborhood.
Asakusa: Home of Tempura was built from the hard work of three foodie friends who all shared the love for Japanese food. They learned the art of making the perfect tempura from Asakusa, a district in Tokyo which is known to serve the best tempura in the world. Bringing back their experience to the Philippines, they opened Asakusa: Home of Tempura to provide the same tempura experience they had in Japan to Filipinos.
The branch at Ayala Malls Feliz is similar in size to their other outlets, serving around 80 guests in a cozy and casual dining setup. The owners have plans to expand to more places soon so expect to see more of Asakusa: Home of Tempura in the coming months.
You can spot touches of Japanese designs here and there, reminiscent of those small side street eateries in Tokyo which offers some of the most delicious food you can find.
It’s not just tempura that is featured at Asakusa as the restaurant offers a wide selection of other Japanese favorites. Take for instance, their Salmon Salad (P258) which can be served regular or spicy. This refreshing salad is topped with fresh slices of salmon and tempura bits then drizzled with a sweet teriyaki-based sauce. It’s a lovely and healthy way to start any meal.
The Gyoza (P228 - 6pcs) is another popular Japanese appetizer that we are all familiar with. These juicy and meaty dumplings will bring a savory explosion to your palates.
One interesting and unique item is their Uni Tempura (P268). Uni, or sea urchin, is usually served as a sushi or sashimi but this is the first time I have seen it fried as a tempura. I wasn’t able to try it myself but I’m sure that uni lovers will enjoy this different and creative take.
What I highly recommend ordering though is the Wagyuni (P388) which is a Wagyu Sushi topped with delectable uni. The tender piece of wagyu beef sits boldly on top of Japanese rice and is further enhanced with a sliver of uni.
The contrasting flavors and textures are just unbelievable and this is what you call a Surf and Turf, Japanese style. The only downer here is that it only comes with three pieces.
The main attracion at Asakusa are their Tempura Sets which all come with a cup of plain rice and a glass of iced tea or lemonade. You can choose from among the different sets, but the most popular would definitely be the 5-Star Shogun Set (P608) which comes with 5 pieces of Black Tiger Prawn Tempura.
The tempura is hands-down the star of the show at Asakusa and rightfully so. The black tiger prawns are huge and the batter is light but still very crispy. Despite this, you can taste so much more of the prawn rather than the batter, which is a simple concept that not all tempura restaurants seem to get. I can just imaging how big their Jumbo Prawn would be. The tempura sauce is also light and tasty without being too salty. Guests can also order the 3-Star Shogun Set (P388) or even order a la carte prawn tempura by the piece (P115 per piece).
The tempura sets come with plain rice but diners can request to upgrade this to Fried Rice for an additional P48. They can also add P68 to upgrade it to Cold Soba, Hot Soba or Hot Udon if they wish. The iced tea and lemonade can also be upgraded to bottomless for P60.
The grandest tempura set at Asukasa is the Emperor Set (P638). This set fit for an emperor comes with two pieces of Black Tiger prawns, scallop, shiitake mushroom, kani, fish, zucchini, and French beans. The big and juicy scallops are also quite commendable and I’m sure this set will satisfy even those with big appetites.
Rice bowls are also on the menu if you need a quick but filling lunch item. They offer Solo Meals on weekdays including the Katsudon (P188) which is always a popular choice with its pork katsu and egg on a bed of steamed rice. Other rice bowls are the Gyudon (P188), Chicken KAraage TEriyaki (P178) and the Salmon Teriyakidon (P238).
But the highlight of the afternoon at Asukasa: Home of Tempura was actually the Saikoro Steak (P618). This unbelievably tender and savoury dish comes with meaty chucks of Australian Beef that are cooked according to your preferred doneness. The buttery beef goes so well with the fried rice and this is absolutely a must-try.
For dessert, the restaurant offers two options, the Valrhona Chocolate Brownies with Green Tea Ice Cream (P158) or the Coffee Jelly (P118). Depending on your preference, both are good ways to finish off your indulgent meal at Asakusa: Home of Tempura. Congratulations to the owners for a successful grand opening at Ayala Malls Feliz!

Highlands, Lowlands

A cycling holiday in Scotland in April might seem like a crazy idea and it was. And even though I was prepared for bad weather, I was not prepared for freezing temperatures and headwinds of up to 18 knots. And I was also not “prepared” for the many delicious meals I had both in Edinburgh (photo above) and outside of it. It’s not all haggis and porridge in the Highlands and Lowlands.
EDINBURGH
Edinburgh has 4 one Michelin-star restaurants, 4 restaurants with Bib Gourmand and 28 restaurants having a Michelin plate (for good-cooking) which is really impressive considering it has only a population of half a million.
Unfortunately I did not manage to eat at any of the Michelin-starred restaurants but I did manage to eat at 1 Bib Gourmand restaurant (The Dogs) and 2 Michelin plate restaurants (Timberyard, Kanpai).
While I liked Timberyard for its unique ambiance (it is housed in an old timber warehouse and still smells wonderfully of timber) and I think the dishes were well executed (the raw venison with elderflower was a revelation), I must say I much prefer The Dogs both for its honest cooking with fresh ingredients offering great value for money and its off-beat ambiance (the mussels cooked in squid ink was delectable and the tender devilled ox livers was succulently good).
Since Scotland is famous for its salmon and I love salmon sashimi, I decided to go to Kanpai for lunch. I must confess that I was very disappointed. No Japanese sushi chefs here - just two young Chinese(!) chefs making very mediocre sushi. It just goes to show you that you cannot always trust Michelin (nor and especially Tripadvisor).
I love the sea and eating by the shore is always such a special experience. That is why I chose to have a meal in Fishers in Leith. Nothing fancy here but really fresh seafood, some good wine, very friendly service and a view of the sea. What more can one ask for?
MHOR IN CALLANDER AND BEYOND
Mhor is not a place in Scotland. It is a Gaelic word meaning large. I first encountered the word when I was in Callander (about I hour northwest of Edinburgh and gateway to the Highlands). On the high street, there was Mhor Bread and Mhor Fish. I had good capuccinos and a pastry or cake for two straightdays at Mhor Bread and one night, I had fresh oysters and fish chowder (almost like bouillabaisse) in Mhor Fish. So when my cycling companion and myself found ourselves in Balquhidder (Rob Roy country for the historians amongst you) and saw a sign for Mhor hotel, we decided to make the 8 mile detour (13km) to have lunch there. And we were not disappointed.

Even discounting for the view (photo above) and the fact that we were cold and hungry and looking forward to a warm meal, the only words I can use to describe the meal in the restaurant at Monochyle Mhor is excellent. With head chef Marysia Paszkowska you cannot help but fall in love with modern Scottish food (photo below shows my mackerel starter followed by tender Scottish lamb with sweetbreads).

BACK TO CALLANDER
Actually I did not actually cycle back to Callander after Balquhidder (my luggage was waiting for me in Killin), but apart from the Mhor restaurants, I also had fine meals in Poppies and Callander Meadows in Callander.
Poppies is supposedly the best restaurant in Callander but I preferred my meal in Callander Meadows. There is no reason to complain about Poppies but I felt that everything I ate at Callander Meadows was just a touch more creative. The scallop starter in Poppies with granny smith was good but the smoked mackerel with grapefruit and avocado starter was even better for its the variety of textures (smooth avocado, citrusy grapefruit and firm mackerel flesh).

In Scotland they don’t say dessert. They say pudding and that means puddings and anything sweet to end the meal (apple crumbles, sorbets etc). If you are in Scotland have the chance to try a sticky toffee pudding, do try it. And I hope that one you get will be just like the one I had in Callander meadows with the right touch of charred caramel aftertaste on a soft moist pudding without being too sweet but having just the right amount of stodginess.
PITLOCHRY
Pitlochry is the gateway to the highlands and as a well-known tourist destination, it has a lot of restaurants, four of them earning a Michelin plate. I chose to eat in the Auld Smiddy because I read that it was housed in an old blacksmith’s forge and served solid Scottish food. I was not disappointed. The fish n chips with peas was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

WHISKEY
What is a visit to Scotland without experiencing its whiskey. I am not much of a drinker but if are in Scotland and find yourselves in Aberfeldy in Perth and Kinross, the heart of the highlands, you have to take a distillery tour at Dewars. It is highly informative.
“There is no bad whiskey. There are only some whiskeys that aren't as good as others." — Raymond Chandler

http://ift.tt/2joPLDj Read on our visit to Princess Cruises | How Do I Survive With Limited Internet for 4D3N by FoodGem
Media Travel
Personally, I have never been on a relaxation trip. Busy shopping, many miles of endless walking and even work on my trip. These adds to travel fatigue though it was meant to be an unwinding on holiday. Holidays are supposed to be relaxing, isn’t it? In my recent cruise journey with Princess Cruises being in Ko Samui basically gave me a taste of what a perfect relaxation trip. If you have been following my IG @Foodgemsg ; great foods, drinks, entertainment and more. Being an active blogger/ influencer, it felt rather empty initially, missing 24/7 internet access. Well, there’s internet on sea, however it is costly at USD$0.79/ minute and at slow surfing speed. Probably a blessing in disguise! I need not check on my work and stuffs (Shhhhh!). Always feeling welcome and a part of this big family with friendly crews and passengers. Looking forwards to a list of endless activities on Princess Cruises.
Food
Being a foodie on vacation, food play a big part on my beautiful adventure. I would have to admit that the food on board Princess Cruises are very impressive. Enjoy in the comfort of stateroom with 24 hours room service or dine at any dining room extending from casual dining to speciality restaurant, where each restaurant presents the perfect food for every palete.
Crab Shack
Crab shack is famous for its steam seafood extravaganza. Featuring savoury freshly steamed Alaskan King Crabs. I’ve received 6 large Crab legs with a variety of fresh seafood eg. fresh clams, prawns, mussels and more! The portion is really HUGE, do visit on an empty stomach. 4 course dinner consists of appetiser, soup, main, dessert with coffee or tea at USD29 per person. UNBELIEVABLE!!! It’s definitely a steal.
The popcorn shrimp appetizer started a bang. Choice of dipping sauce in Bayou style or tartar.
Manhattan clam chowder with bacon, tomato and potatoes. Locks of love for these extra clam juice it calls for just what was in the clams.
Selection of gateaux and tarts from the pastry shop, served with coffee or tea.
2. Santa Fe/ Pacific Moon
Princess Gourmet Beef Burger: Savoury good beef patty topped with blue crab meat dressed in asparagus and hollandaise sauce. It is served with french fries.
Cream of wild mushroom soup with sun-blushed roms tomatoes.
Not the usual scallops that is laid on the plate. Sea scallop that has been hand-picked off a rock by a scuba diver. Diver scallops are more biologically amicable and less lumpy. Diver scallops also give a firmer, gentle texture with a nice colour. It comes with three beurre-blanc, vegetable julienne and red bliss potatoes. Definitely one of the must try dishes at Santa Fe.
Beautiful pink rain drops surfacing chocolate mousse on brownie.
Strawberry Sorbet to cleanse the palate. It is infused with lemon and wild thyme.
3. The Savoy Dining Room
Seafood stew with Chilean sea bass, black mussels and clams. Fresh seafood in a plate of creamy broth. Flavoured with sauteed fennel and a variety of herbs, spices and seasonings. Best to enjoy the stew with slices of toasted baguette soaking in the goodness of every drop.
Trio of premium seafood selection from lobster, shrimp and squid with orange filets lime-cilantro vinaigrette. The sweetness of seafood with the citrusy of fruits makes an amazing starter.
Double beef consomme with mini choux buns and green onions. Although its a clear soup but the stock is richly flavoured.
Watermelon and Feta cheese showering with toasted pumpkin seeds and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil lemon.
4. Buffet at Horizon Court
Something that elevates to a buffet is that they serve a wide selection of foods – but not limited to Western, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Indian cuisines. It starts as early at 5am and ends at 11pm. Expect to see ribeye steak, salmon sashimi, alluring desserts and more! Buffet was delicious, consistent, even its presentation in the tray.
5. High Tea at The International Dining Room
The large selection of high tea does not impress me. Not a fan of very sweet pastry. Probably it’s just me, saving the calories at other restaurants or even the buffet!
6. Room service dining
Say yes to 24 hours room service! That gonna be one of the coolest as I get to order any meal anytime in the comfort of my personal stateroom. Breakfast served after I’ve washed up in the morning or a simple salad/ sandwich at midnight. Speedy delivery after 20-30 minutes of waiting. Hot foods served and prepared specially upon order. Besides the western breakfast, you can also order Chinese food eg. Wonton noodle! Room service can never be better.
Accomodation
Nothing beats lying on a comfort Princess bed after a long day of activities. Satisfying your senses with Princess amenities such as 100% cotton, high thread count linens and duvet, down pillows and more!
Entertainment
I woke up every day so psyched for what lay ahead. Probably a morning Japanese bath experience or Zumba class, followed by shopping at duty free boutiques. In the afternoon, pick a champagne at the art gallery or offshore excusion. And in the evening, live entertainment in the lounges, games at casino, enjoy a movie under the stars, the spectacular musical production or even dancing in the disco.
Highly recommended Production Show that you shouldn’t miss: Bravo
Light opera musical theater and pop opera songs show tunes exhibited in a rich setting summons a significant night at the Opera. Starring the Diamond Princess singers, dancers and orchestra. Featuring Lena McKenzie, an off-the-beaten track Soprano, who caught everyone’s attention with her perfect high notes.
The night is still young with gala balloon drop party.
Galley tour and behind the scenes for an insider’s look of how our meals are prepared.
Featuring Chef Nilo Palma presenting in a light hearted and comedy cooking demonstration.
Love boat disco deck party at Nepture’s Reef and Pool.
Facilities
Participate in Princess Cruises’ onboard activities, including movie under the stars, pools, hot tubs, poolside activities, sports courts, gym and more!
Indulge in luxury spa experience named Best Spa on a Cruise Ship by Spafinder Wellness 365. The Lotus Spa provides pampering services – from manicure to massages. Or visit a simple wood paneled dry sauna and a tiled steam room.
Gymnasium, aerobics room with jogging tracks.
Shore Excursions
Elephant show exhibited the ones essentially highlighting ability and inventiveness of the elephants.
Elephant trekking with authentic jungle paths and a gentle breeze.
Wat Phra Yai, also known as the Big Buddha Temple, is a Buddhist temple on Ko Phan. It is a small island offshore from the northeastern area of Ko Samui, Thailand. The 12-meter-tall Golden Buddha takes endurance of steps flanked by two emerald dragons with the towering focal figure at the foremost. Big Buddha fulfills both the religious visitors and also the tourists. Mirroring these standards, a ring of extensive bronze prayer bells surrounds the Buddha. Tenderly influencing in the cool sea breeze. Use one of the wooden strikers to delicately ring every bell for good fortunes as you take in the eminent perspectives. I’ve recorded the process and hope anyone who plays this video gets the blessing too.
