#I remember I was watching a Victoria's Secret fashion show once (for the musical guest that year)
Text
What happened to fashion shows? Why does everyone look stoned out of their minds? What happened to the class of old school models?
Tumblr media
Even just in this collage, you can see a delineation from models who wore their personalities on their faces, to dead-eyed dress-up dolls. Something happened in the 80s and 90s haute couture landscape that began begging their models to become little more than living, breathing mannequins, staring vapidly at the audience and camera as if they had no souls. Can we bring back smiling models once more?

Hair, Beauty, Skin, and Nails
Fanola ‘No Yellow’ Shampoo: For my girls with lightened hair! I’ve tried other purple shampoos, but nothing keeps my hair as toned and healthy as this one! Even my hairdresser couldn’t believe how fresh my color looked three months later!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: I cannot BELIEVE how amazing this mascara is. I’m super picky about mascaras (even Better than Sex didn’t work for me!) but this one hits the spot! Not only does it make my eyelashes look amazing, but I can tell that it conditions my eyelashes as well!
Laura Mercier Illuminating Foundation Primer: I have an everyday primer that’s WAY cheaper than this one, but I wanted to invest in something that would keep my makeup looking amazing throughout long events or nights out. This was definitely worth the splurge and I feel so luxurious when I use it!
Aquaphor Lip Balm: On a cheaper note, I picked up a two-pack of these lip balms for me and my boyfriend at the store one day. They are so cheap but the quality is amazing! I wear this every single day, even under and over lipstick! I can tell this will be a go-to product throughout the Fall and Winter seasons.
Amber & Argan Fragrance: I haven’t bought anything from Bath and Body Works in YEARS, but my mom and sister and I decided to stop in and smell some candles the other day. They recently released a new fragrance called “Amber & Argan”. As soon as I smelled it, I knew I had to have it! Honestly, I have a couple of high-end perfumes and the smell of this fragrance blows them away. I can’t say enough how beautiful it is! I bought a bottle of the fragrance spray, but I’ve definitely hinted that I’d like the perfume oil, hand cream, and body wash for my birthday...
KL Polish in “Zoey”: I’ve talked before about how I’m a fan of KL Polish. I haven’t had the best luck with the past two launches (the polish seems to separate and has a watery consistency...but maybe I just received bad batches!) but I reused the color “Zoey” this week and remembered just how great it is! It’s a gorgeous color and only needs one coat--perfect for those of us who hate waiting for polish to dry!
Fashion
Sam Edelman Patti Dress Sandal: I’m convinced Sam Edelman makes THE most comfortable shoes ever. I bought these for a wedding, but I’m sure they’re going to become a staple in my closet! I definitely feel like these are a pair of shoes that every woman could use.
Victoria’s Secret ‘The Knockout’ Sport Pocket Tight: My mom bought me a pair of these when they were on sale ($55 for the pants and a sports top or bra!). I do love my Gym Shark gym pants, but I’m obsessed with the pocket on these! They make listening to music (or podcasts in my case) at the gym so convenient!
Graphic Tees: Not exactly groundbreaking, but I’ve discovered that my preferred gym uniform is some workout leggings and a huge, soft, graphic tee. I usually wear college or sorority shirts to the gym, but I found this t-shirt at Charming Charlie’s the other day! It’s incredibly soft and breathable.
Books, Movies, TV, Music, and everything else!
The Last Tudor by Philippa Gregory: Philippa Gregory’s books are a little hit-or-miss for me, and this one definitely dragged on a bit. But if you’re interested in the Tudor period, you’ll likely find it interesting! Like most of her books, it gives readers another perspective of well-known events and figures.
Dunkirk: Christopher Nolan, Hans Zimmer, Tom Hardy, Aneurin Barnard...clearly I NEEDED to see this movie! It’s not for the faint of heart (honestly the suspense stressed me out SO much) but so worth it.
Victoria: I’ve been watching quite a few shows, and this is one of them! It has a ‘Downton Abbey’ sort of vibe, which is right up my ally. It does move a bit slowly, so I can only watch a few episodes at once.
The Last Kingdom: My boyfriend and I have been binging this in our free time! If you like Game of Thrones, this might be a great replacement in the off-season. It can get cliche, but the storyline moves quickly and there are a bunch of likeable characters. It’s also available on Netflix!
So Sharp: I’m a reality TV fan and a former dancer, so I’m all about this show. It follows the University of Louisville’s Ladybirds dance team!
Relatively Healthy podcast: I’m a fairly new gym-goer and I quickly learned that I get very bored listening to music for the whole time I’m there. My boyfriend suggested I start listening to podcasts and I was lucky enough to come across this one! The two hosts (a comedian and her doctor sister) discuss all kinds of women’s health topics, issues, and fads and frequently invite guests who are specialists in their fields. It’s super interesting and informative!
