First of all, sorry for the bad grammar and run on sentences that may pop up. Second of all, this is the very first playlist I ever put together, ‘criticism’ is welcomed. Hate, especially on the song or band because ‘insert problematic thing band has done’ is not welcomed. I focused on lyrics and the feel of the song. I know my song choices are probably not the same as what you would’ve chosen for Lavi and that’s okay. This is just sort of what I feel is Lavi. If that makes sense.

This sort of ties both to canon!Lavi and my ModernAU!Lavi which is why some songs may feel a bit ooc. Some parts of this playlist may point to possible ships. My intention was to leave this completely ambiguous for all ships (or at least try to, now that I think of it there are a helluva lot pointing towards Allen. Oopsie. Sorry. Blame it on the fact they’re my BROTP I guess). This is Lavi’s playlist in which it is lyric heavy (I have another one coming up that is not lyric heavy and is more nature/introspective/ambient.) Under the cut are the songs I have used, why I have used them, why I have placed them the way I did, as well as some Lavi musings/quotes/ song lyrics (musings will be heavier in my second playlist, not so much in this one. This one is heavy on the quotes and lyrics. Sorry. Next one will be a lot more creative; I promise).

For the most part this playlist was a bit difficult to place songs with. My game plan was to set songs that were faster and more upbeat together. I wanted to do the same with the slower songs as well. However, I also wanted to have some sort of flow going. The beginning of the playlist is supposed to be centered on Lavi’s thoughts and his ‘being’ for the lack of a better term. Later on, in the playlist it’s supposed to show him struggling to maintain distance as he begins to form bonds with the people he’s supposed observe.

I know the songs themselves may seem very back and forth at times, but I think that’s a good way to show his internal struggle. I also know some songs seem to draw out, for instance I have three songs dealing with love (not feeling, not being able to reciprocate, etc). For that I am sorry. I just didn’t know where else to place them and it felt like this was the best fit. As for the two last songs I added, one is to provide the idea that no matter how hard Lavi tries he will always be ‘human’ he will have to continually fight it. The last song is to represent hope (Von is the Icelandic word for hope), whether it be for the war’s end, Allen’s and the other exorcist’s survival, or humanity’s overall survival.

Oshakashama (Translated as Buddah)- Radwimps

I chose this song specifically because I thought the lyrics fit Lavi’s thought processes towards humans quite well. It really takes on the outlook of how stupid humanity can be and how irrational our actions are. The lyrics are very detached sounding. If we are being real, a lot of exorcists go through doubting God and I’m certain Lavi would more than likely do the same. Since the song is in Japanese, I provided the link to the english lyrics.

I sort of imagine Lavi wanting to run away sometimes from being a Bookman in this song (even if he is proud to be one and wants to be one). Maybe he’d take his special someone with him? I hope so.

 A song from a cold place. A song of hope. This is an Icelandic song that is a personal favorite of mine from the anime Terror in Resonance. I couldn’t resist adding it because while the song is chilling, the lyrics speak of hope (von). Hope for humanity’s survival.

DGM Braincrack Ideas

Lately I have had a ton of DGM braincrack build up which is just a bad time, so I will try to exorcise (aha, ha) some of it by laying it out briefly here I may come back to these at some point, not sure yet

If anyone sees this and wants to make their own thing from it too, I would love that! Please do! Just also please include that you’re basing it from these prompts/ideas/whatever these are.

So:

-Alma/Kanda fic that’s kind of a twist on the ‘Alma Becomes An Exorcist AU’! In which Kanda is wrenched awake one morning only to find Alma, full grown and fully alive, sleeping in bed with him in his room at the Order. There’s a sharp moment where the Wrong of this screams in Kanda’s head but that very abruptly stops. Alma’s always been alive and frequently shares Kanda’s room. They’re still at the Black Order because there’s still a holy war on. Everyone else is the same as Kanda’s known all his life. Everything’s totally normal. Except it doesn’t feel normal. And Kanda realizes a few days/weeks/months after his freaked out awakening that he hasn’t seen a single lotus flower since he woke up that day.

-Drunk!fic! Technically there was this in canon in the recent chapters with Kanda and Johnny BUT we can always have more fic where for various reasons—in this case in my brain, akuma completely wipe out a small town in France that mainly did a lot of winemaking—The Protagnists have a lot of alcohol on hand, some free time before the next step in the adventure and not a lot to do. So they take the reasonable option as sensible teenagers and spend three days getting fucking blasted.

-Trans girl Lavi fic! Junior, around ten years old and under a 23rd name, turns to Bookman and is like, “Next time can I be a girl?”   Bookman responds with a Look(TM) and after a moment answers, “It won’t be easier for you.” Junior is acutely aware of this, “I know, but.” Bookman is quiet for another moment before refocusing on the task at hand; then, on the next assignment, “This is my granddaughter.”  And so she stays. The actual fic itself is either a) plugging that into the universe and also whatever other kind of fic is wanted. Trans girl Lavi is where I am going with this -Additional points: 1., she isn’t a ‘Bookgirl’ etc, it’s just Bookman, no matter what gender the apprentice/Bookman is it’s Bookman; 2., she still wears 376 billion layers at all times (including her eyepatch), is generally a shithead but a good friend, and picks terrible times to flirt with absolutely everyone. -‘In which DGM Canon is actually just the characters playing D&D in a modern AU’ AU! I actually have a pretty developed outline for this so I won’t get further into it but there can and should always be more of this kind of AU frankly -“Accidentally Magic-Handcuffed” Fic with Allen and Lenalee, in which neither of them freak out about it after the initial ‘What the fuck’ moment because they’ve spent months in pretty constant company with each other before anyway, so they resolve to just work together until they can undo the spell! (The cuff is attached to Allen’s human hand, which is why he can’t just activate Crown Clown to remove it.)                -Do they develop new, vicious and legitimately scarily-efficient ways of combo fighting akuma together using Lenalee’s speed and flying ability, Allen’s shield-cloak, and Allen’s sword which they hold together? They sure do.                -Do they grow emotionally closer and fall (even more obviously) in love through the ordeal? They sure do

-Pretty much any non-Exorcist focused canon universe fic, but especially Finders                -Because I love me some world building and I have so Many Thoughts about Finders like let me just. Just real quick               -How do they hear about the Order? How do they get to the Order after they hear about it?                -What kind of qualifications do you have to have to be a Finder anyway? Would they undergo training? Are there people who are designated the medic / navigator of their units and if so would they have separate training?                -How are Finder units decided? Are they grouped by the languages they know if they’re being sent to areas of the world where their first language would be useful?  Do the Finders who are women get assigned units with other women so they’d feel/be safer? Are all Finders kept in units with people around the same age, or is there a designated Training Unit that has the, like, early teenagers/tweens who are Finders in it? Can people ‘age out’ of being a Finder? What about Finders who get married and/or have children while they’re in the Order?                - It’s been written/implied that when Finders ‘leave’ they have to take a draught that erases all of their memories of anything they’ve learned or seen while at the Order, what is that process like? Is it mainly used as a punishment or do a lot of people undergo it voluntarily?                 -Where do they live? We see the Exorcists’ rooms in the Order, do Finders have individual rooms too or is it more like a dorm situation? Would the heads of the units get their own rooms? Would families get a private room, if only to save the other Finders sleep if a new baby is crying a lot (bc babies) etc?                -And what would be some Finder traditions? Do they have their own songs? They must sing, you can’t tell me these people spend long journeys together and risk their lives and don’t sing (when it’s relatively safe to do so)—would they bring instruments with them on the road or just round-sing that shit? WORLDBUILDING \o/ And lastly (for now) Daemon DGM AU -My one true weakness which has some absolutely cool angst possibilities. Lavi’s daemon is absolutely a racoon.  Komui’s is a crane. Most of the other scientists have cats. Lenalee’s I'm not sure about?? The easiest answer would be like, “Oh, a bird”, but I don’t think that entirely fits her. Allen’s I’m not sure about either (possibly also a cat?) but his daemon does start to seemingly ‘pass out’ a lot when Neah starts to awaken; it’s one of the first signs he notices. This is the angst part: Kanda’s soul is a wolf and he doesn’t speak; he’s never spoken in Kanda’s whole life, and he’s never changed shape either, not even when Kanda was a kid in the lab. Alma’s daemon, also a wolf, never changed shape either though, and since everyone else the four of them knew was an adult, Kanda had no idea having a silent, settled daemon was unusual until after everything blew up and he got out into the world and saw other children and how people were supposed to grow. (Spoiler: the Order couldn’t create new daemons the way they could new bodies, so instead they performed super strong and SUUUUPER unethical magic on all of the Second Exorcist experiment children which allowed the bond to transfer but also robbed the daemon itself of speech, because the scientists thought that if the children didn’t get told what had been done to them they’d have a better chance of re-synchronizing.)
