oh hey ttr is ten now? i feel like i should probably make a sentimental post about it
so like, i was not actually a toontown kid? i played pixie hollow (which is essentially blood brothers with toontown imo) growing up and then after it shut down i didn't really... play other games. i actually started with ttr back in 2020! it's actually coming up on four years since i got totally hooked on the game, as i didn't really start Playing Toontown until september 2020, during the toonfest at home event.
since then, i feel like i've gone through every single high and low imaginable: covid, mental breakdowns, The Horrors, whatever's wrong with the people at my school, friends made and also lost sometimes, and through everything i've had somewhere safe to return to in Toontown. i started playing during my freshman year of college, and i actually graduate this semester! i have played this game in classes, i have played it instead of taking notes (NOT RECOMMENDED), i have gotten noise complaints in the dorms for the kind of ruckus i was making, and altogether it's kept me afloat.
at one point i signed up to write for a student-run comedy show largely because i thought it would look great on an application to be a creative writer for the game, only to end up developing and producing my own show for the same tv station (that later unfairly got the ax, but that's a story for another time) which led to me getting my current job working in local news, so in a weird way, i feel like ttr has been a life-changing catalyst for me as much as it's been a source of comfort over the years? it's great knowing this community exists and that i can always come to hang out, even if i'm on a journey that doesn't give me a ton of free time rn.
part of that community is y'all! thank you for the years of reading my posts, sending me things, at least pretending i'm funny, and most of all being such a great group of folks. i'm excited to see where this next season of life takes me and i'm glad to have y'all along for the ride. <3
idk, i don't think this post makes much sense, but you know how it is. happy tenth birthday, toontown rewritten! here's to the next ten and beyond 🫡

per manum thoughts
Honestly, there are a lot of episodes of The X-Files that give me the heebie jeebies but none have come close to the feeling I got watching Per Manum. It's a Scully focused ep in a season that's a little Scully lacking imo so ya girl was excited!
Neither Mulder nor Scully get out of the narrative unscathed in this show but, god, they really love to torture Scully don't they? I mean, we know that having a baby is something that she's wanted for a long time. Something that she thought wasn't possible. And then Mulder waltz in like "Wassup I got some of your ova. It was in my pocket for a while, but I think it's fine" (Fox, babygirl, you're smart. You should know better).
In a series of flashbacks we see them trying IVF. I have to mention that I freaking loved how they did the transitions to the flashbacks here. Like in the elevator! They were absolutely perfect. Anyway, spoiler alert, it doesn't work. (Like seriously, Mulder, IT WAS IN YOUR POCKET FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. THAT SHIT AIN'T SHELF STABLE) At this point we make the connection that the same doctor that Scully is seeing, the same one that started her IVF, is in cahoots with these doctors taking alien babies from women? (For what purpose....idk that's still unclear to me)
And then we have to watch poor Scully freaking out that she might give birth to an alien baby. Seriously, I felt panicked for her while watching this, it was kinda tough to get through. In sci-fi and horror, aliens are often used as an allegory for pregnancy. Something invading your body and destroying you from the inside out. This feeds into Scully's fear of her own pregnancy, that something could go wrong. That she's alone and scared and without Mulder. And yes, the idea that she could give birth to a literal alien baby. So while I can see what they were going for, I'm just tired y'all. We see her finally get pregnant and even though she doesn't completely understand how it happened (cough cough all things cough cough) she's excited nonetheless. I think she also sees her baby as a tie that she has with Mulder. And if he's gone at least he left a part of him behind. So to have her panic about the true nature of her baby's paternity just seems cruel at this point.
Another terrifying aspect of this episode is Scully's realization that she couldn't even trust her own doctor. We're used to this show taking people in positions of power and showing them as shady and working for their own agenda. (re the entire government) But Scully herself is a doctor. She looks at other people in the medical field and she trusts them. Because they're doctors and they're supposed to help people. Her own doctor turns out to be working for the alien people, so Scully goes to another hospital only to find that she can't trust those doctors either. I think this conveys a very real and prevalent issue, that is still true today, and that is of women and autonomy of their own bodies.
I haven't seen any of the later seasons yet, but I know about the revelation in season 11. It's just another way to use Scully and her body to drive the plot forward. This comes after all that's she's already been through, with her abduction and experimentation. This decision takes away Scully's choice and desire to have a baby and twists it into a nonconsensual nightmare. One were she wasn't in charge or aware of what they were doing to her body. I don't think the (predominantly male) writers understand just how fucked up that is. So yeah, I'm pissed about that. Mulder is the father of Scully's baby and that's that.
We also finally have Doggett finding out that Scully is pregnant. This has been simmering for a while, as he can tell she's keeping something from him. She didn't tell him, but of course he found out based on the circumstances. It's taken me a bit to warm up to him but I've been enjoying Doggett's character development since his introduction, as well as the development of him and Scully's partnership. He honest to god just wants to help her with no ulterior motive and I think that's exactly what she needs right now. Someone in her corner. I think by the end of the episode, when he tells her that he wants to help her and that he's going to find Mulder, he's so earnest about it, and it breaks down the some of the walls that she's built up.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand, we got a lot of insight on Scully's character as well as her relationship with Mulder. But god, as a woman it was kind of brutal to watch. I just love Dana Scully so much and I want her to be happy.
I'd love to hear other thoughts and interpretations for this ep!

american horror stories thoughts in the cut below
also, yikes, this is so long... i have lots of thoughts on it
- ok, first i'm starting out with the fact that over 30 people have died in that house and the only guest appearances were those popper twins that showed up for a second + the mention of ben.
- next i'm going to attack the fact that ruby chose to die there (unbeknownst to her she'd get stuck as a ghost). so anybody's just allowed to walk in and visit, or visit without intention of leaving, and its just fine??? i feel like ryan's just trying to crowd the place now.
- third i'm hot and bothered by how UNBOTHERED michael and troy were when they found out they were dead. like? they came in "ghosts aren't real, y'all crazy" then gave a magic school bus reaction to actually being ghosts like the episode that brought us "hey we're bees". like i expected a more violet-like reaction from season 1. also we were never shown scarlett and ruby's first interaction, nor how she reacted to her gf being a ghost. even if she believed in ghosts, she'd still have some immediate disbelief that one is in her house and talking to her.
- i'm also starting to get annoyed by the reuse of names. michael being a new character after we JUST had michael langdon, who had a whole season focused on him. then we have troy, who was one of the "i hate trees" popper twins. then we have scarlett, who was john and alex's daughter in hotel. like?? there's so many names you could pick plz stop reusing ones who have been previously important (ish) characters.
- next, that season wrapped up way to loosely in two episodes. so maya and her friends are just ok with scarlett grabbing her shit and leaving?? like, they played an awful prank, scarlett killed em, they cosntantly seek revenge, but then are suddenly all chill with each other? now scarlett's just gonna keep coming back to the house each year to see ruby like she owns the place? which i guess her dads still might, but constance put up a fight when madison said SHE owned it, so what's gonna come of that? cause I just know constance and billy are gonna wander in to see beau every so often, as they do.
- also also, is scarlett just roaming around in that suit and expecting not to raise any questions? surely someone, like a neighbor of ruby's uncle or anyone else, might see some sus girl in a leather s&m suit hacking up the place with her axe? and are the girls at the murder house gonna make noise and act crazy everyday in those big windows? cause the neighbors are gonna think there's a permanent sleepover party going on til they go inside and just find a bunch of rotting corpses...
it's all a little weird to me. i was actually pretty excited but now there's too many unanswered questions. i'm going to keep watching for episode 6, but wish the writers would leave the murder house alone now.

The Film Society: You've Got Friends!
After a long, long day of interviewing my fellow TFS members, I could finally finish this huge list. So here I start! *drum rolls*
Tumblr media
Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) - Rom-Com/Drama
Tumblr media
"Cause it’s pretty light, the topic is about love but somehow it’s nothing close to cringey? I love how it see from the other perspective that love isn’t always about happiness and all, but also about doubt and troubles." — Sunghoon.
At Cafe 6 (2016) - Rom-Com
Tumblr media
"It's about friendship and love story, but actually it's more of a coming of age and slice of life movie. At first, I didn't expect it to be that sad but I was so wrong. I relate to some of the story and I couldn't help buy got sucked in, too immersed into the movie I didn't realize I was crying in the middle towards the end of the movie." — Nanon.
Fractured (2019) - Psychological Thriller
Tumblr media
"This movie was top notch! Definitely recommend if you’re on the fence. As for the plot twist, obviously there’s definitely one right at the end." — Colde.
Army of The Dead (2021) - Action/Horror
Tumblr media
"As a zombie film enthusiast, I love the way the movie goes. It’s about human perspective and zombie perspective. A little bit spoiler, the movie has both ending. Can you guess? I recommend this movie as must watch!" — Mark.
Freedom Writers (2007) - Biography/Drama
Tumblr media
"The reason why I recommend this movie is because this one based on true story that happened in America. How this freshman and Sophomore English teacher changed 150 'Freedom Writers'. Its refreshing to see a story of a teacher who genuinely cares, has a passion for teaching, and builds bonds with her students." — Namjoon.
Tired of the list yet? Here, a song for you. Don't get bored because we still have a long way to go!
Luca (2021) - Coming of Age/Comedy/Adventure
Tumblr media
"This is my new comfort movie, the storyline is pretty simple but has a big moral value. How to be brave, and to accept yourself as who you are. I feel so amazed by the way they packed this movie. definitely should watch!" — Yena.
Black Widow (2021) - Action
Tumblr media
"I would say this is as good as 'Captain America and The Winter Soldier' as it's in the similar tone to that movie and Black Widow brought out most of my emotions in this movie which is excitement, laughter, and sadness. Let me just say that I'm a huge fan of the character 'Natasha Romanoff' including Scarlett Johansson herself along as her playing Natasha in the MCU movies too which she is so brilliant and no other actress would do it better than her." — Bahiyyih.
Schindler's List (1993) - Historical Drama/Noir
Tumblr media
"If you like to get feelie and all emotional, this movie would be perfect. Even if you don’t like being feelie, the movie is rather educational and filled with moral lessons!" — Chaeryeong.
Crawl (2019) - Horror/Disaster
Tumblr media
"AAAA this movie took all my breath away. I can’t imagine if I were there, as the cast. Trapped in a house with huge HUGE alligators in the middle of Hurricane and flood, I don’t think I can survive. It has plenty of thrills as well, and the set is just at one house. Although the ending is quite questionable, it’s worth the watch." — Wendy.
I actually asked more than 10 people for this but, sadly, Tumblr only allows 10 images per post so I can't put everything in this post. Y'all can check out the rest on PART 2.
