edit: closed for now so i don't get overwhelmed! hi everyone! i'm pretty new to posting ads for 1x1 rp-ing but i have a lot of muse for writing a variety of plots! a little bit of info about me is that i'm 25+, s/her pronouns, open to m/m, f/f and m/f. as for timezone and activity, i'm in the gmt + 8 timezone and i would say i'm pretty active unless i'm working (i have a corporate job) or hanging out with friends during weekends. there are also some days when my writing muse is low of course so please do understand. (when you have those days i'll definitely be understanding as well!) i'm looking to find 1x1 partners who are at least 23+ on discord. i'm an oc type of girl who plays both male and female ocs. definitely more experienced writing male ocs, but i like having a good mix. i would hope the same for my rp partners as well! i definitely can do semi-lit to novella depending on muse or brain juice. also! i would like to practice writing nsfw since i haven't done so in a while. below the cut you'll find more information about tropes, fcs i like to use and etc. like this post if you want me to approach you for your discord! or you can message me with yours!
just some general info:
be clear when communicating especially if you have no muse for a certain plot/thread! i would appreciate it rather than being ghosted.
please put in the same or enough effort when it comes to plotting/headcannons and etc. i promise to do the same or inform you if i don't have enough brain power to come up with things.
i love angst and fluff is definitely fine too as a bit of a palate cleanser.
my only trigger is descriptive self-harm but there are some taboo topics i am really not comfortable writing despite not being triggered.
some fcs i rp/would like to: song kang, park solomon, ateez san, txt's yeonjun, the boyz younghoon and hyunjae, svt's jeonghan and jun, bright vachirawit, bibi, youha, fromis_9 jiwon, noze, twice's sana, kiss of life's julie han, billie's haram, kitty chicha, kwon nara and honestly many more. also open to suggestions!
some tropes/genres/what have you ideas:
grumpy x sunshine, best friends to lovers (pining premium, both are idiots, drops the 'bro' and 'no homo'), fake dating (for dumb reasons like i need to make myself look desirable because people think i've been bitchless for years which yes i have been But), meet ugly, enemies to lovers, exes to friends to lovers, rivals (especially for like royalty aus), high fantasy, supernatural, revenge, royalty, reincarnation, 25 lives (the poem by tongari), blind date gone wrong, based on anime/movies/series, storybook characters with a twist and a plot like hotel del luna where they're wandering souls staying at a super fancy hotel, vampires, merfolk and etc... that's a lot i realized.
specific plot ideas:
business partners who are also fwbs. two people who match in every aspect from financial status, looks, in the bedroom etc.. have tried to make it work in the romance department but it just left them frustrated but they try again
final girl who's trying to recover from the horrors of what happened (we can base it off of a movie) who accidentally falls for a serial killer
i have more i Swear this post is just getting too long fr pls don't cancel me

Knowing your partner well can potentially make writing together a lot easier
Name: Royal
Pronouns: She/they
Preference of communication: Discord since its more mobile friendly than tumblr IMs
Name of muse(s): Vi and Caitlyn Kiramman
Experience/how long (months/years?): Geez uhh I wanna say...less than a decade but more than 5 years. I did have breaks within those 5ish years though, different fandoms/lost muse/school were the primary reasons
Best experience: Just one? Hm well I'd probably just vaguely say some 1x1s on discord. At that time, I was writing OCs and most of them were wlw ships and ofc I'm a sucker for wlw content so yeah, being able to expand my own OCs and discover other people's was (is) really fun!
RP pet peeves/dealbreakers: It's not really a pet peeve or a deal breaker but one liners. Can't really work with them, I need a little meat to give something fun back haha. Also implementing major character changes into a thread/RP without discussing first, for example killing my muse or vice versa. I'd really love a heads up or if we talk about it first. Adding onto that but this is obvious, godmodding. Please don't control my muse to the point where I can't put in some action/help roll the thread/RP along for the both of us
Muse preference (fluff, angst or smut?): A N G S T! Forgive me my muses, but I am such a sucker for angst. Breaking them down is fun in such a twisted way but I love delving into all that drama, what makes muses tick, what makes them throw everything aside for one person/purpose
Plots or memes: Plots! Even if there is a vague discussion of what we wanna do, I love planning little details/background info for our muses/RP
Long or short replies: This one I actually had to think about as I love both. That being said, I'd probably prefer longer replies (from me or the other party) since every juicy detail is packed in and I can better envision what our muses are doing/going through. The emotion of our muses in a thread really comes out the longer it is, though of course I would never expect anybody to write to a certain degree
Best time to write: Night. I can't focus for most of the day so when everything is dark and I'm left alone with some good music, I can write for hours (and completely wreck my sleep schedule but shhh)
Are you like your muse(s): Somewhat. I'd like to think I am a nice mix of both Caitlyn and Vi. I sure as hell am not as smart as Caitlyn but I'd like to think I'm as analytical as she is. And for Vi, well...I'm a masc lesbian. That's all you need to know lmfao

I'm sorta curious about RP. I haven't really tried it, not in depth, anyway. Is it more or less riffing off of a person(s) in a set storyline while in the character of their oc's? I mean, I write often and have my own OC's, but I've just never really dipped into the RP area.
It's very much like writing! I like to explain it as cooperative story telling. You can either write as a character from existing media, take on the role of a character someone else has created, or make your own. It all very much depends on the person/group, the story, the end goal, and so on and so forth.
It's a little bit like putting on an improv play, just in written form. Even with a set plot or goal in mind, how each character reacts to scenarios could change how the story flows. And each participant has equal influence on the story, within reason.
Some people like to get really into depth with plotting things out, while other people prefer just running with a very vague idea of what's going on. (Improvising on a vague plot is actually my personal favorite, character reactions and twists feel more organic to me.) But both can be equally fun! As they say, it's about the journey, not the destination.
The best way to see if it's for you is to try it out. Find someone who's looking for a role-play partner that fits what you think you would like, or even join one of the many RP finder groups on here and discord (several advertise in the #roleplay finder #rp finder #rp ad #roleplay partner ad and various other tags). Let them know you're new and wanting to try it out, and what kind of stuff you think you would be interested it.
I find it really fun, kind of an extension of daydreaming as a kid but much more social.
#roleplaying#chat with rin#anon#I've been doing this for years#started out with literal pen and paper role-playing in middle school#there were four of us passing around a notebook during school#it's been an addiction ever since#there used to be huge role-playing forums for various original universes as well as fandom role-play forums#I haven't been on any in a while so I have no idea if that's really a thing anymore#those were the days

god i miss rp
I really do need and want to rp right now, but IDEK what I'd put in an ad to try to find someone. I've scanned ads and I don't see anyone looking for something that really draws me in. So I need to create my own ad, but I also don't know what I want.
I'm not sure there's a fandom I want to play in. I've done Lost, Harry Potter, LotR, MCU, Downton Abbey, something RPF adjacent (lifting actors who were in a project together and had good chemistry, making one a rockstar and one a photographer and creating what were essentially OCs with their names and physical appearances), a BBC Sherlock inspired take on Sherlock Holmes which pulled more from the books than the series by the time it got going (BC and MF were the faces we used, it borrowed some from series 1, and then ... ignored everything else about the show). I'm not sure I'd circle back to any of that right now except for literally just ... restarting the same line again where it left off with either the Holmes partner or the Downton partner. If they were interested, I would jump. (Holmes partner and I had a newer line that was MUCH more AU from either the book or TV series that I would love to see continue and may eventually jumpstart again.) Some of these lines were canon up to a certain point and then jumped off from there, some were wildly AU from start to finish and just borrowed characters or worldbuilding.
I've also done lines that were built entirely of OCs with plots like "the cute guy who lives in my dorm is secretly a prince!" and "I'm in love with my fuckbuddy but can't admit it, but I'm going to try to destroy his current relationship by encouraging him to cheat with me" and "I don't actually want to get divorced, but I cheated and now the woman I cheated with his pregnant" and "she's a nurse and he's an orderly who's a conscientious objector"... etc.
I MIGHT do Downton if it were AU, but also .... sometimes I wonder what the point of AU Downton is because the setting is so integral to who the characters are and how their lives are twisted to fit these roles.
I could see myself going back to a Potter line if people weren't incorporating the past 10+ years of "canon" into their takes on the characters (I literally dngaf about anything that wasn't in the original 7 books and will not consider it in my interpretation of the characters) and if JKR wasn't JKRing all over the place making all enjoyment of the fandom feel toxic.
MCU similarly feels like I just don't have the energy to know what's gone on in canon post-Endgame, and all I'd want to play is Avengers hanging out as a family and either Steve and Tony falling in love or Steve and Bucky finding their way back to each other c. CATWS and the first Avengers movie.
I would also probably do Tolkein again, but my knowledge feels a little stale and I'm not sure how many other people would be interested in ... probably a post-war Shire based romance story, which is what I think I'd be most interested in writing. Literally fuck the rest of Middle Earth, I want Merry and Pippin thrust into the middle of like ... a Jane Austen novel.
I like Star Trek, particularly AOS, but my knowledge of the larger canon is "background noise from my childhood" and "haven't had time to watch the newer series" so ... I'm not comfortable wading into it right now.
I really enjoy Schitt's Creek, Our Flag Means Death, Young Royals, Red White and Royal Blue, and Love Victor. I have written/would write some fic for (some) of them (and I've dipped into occasionally reading fic for the others). I don't really identify with a particular character enough to want to fully embody them, though, or I'd like to write a take where I can control all characters, and I don't think I'd enjoy surrendering half the story to someone else, which has been the absolute joy of role play in most lines.
Someone tell me what I should look for in a role play line/partner right now. I have such solid ideas of what I don't want at the moment, but figuring out what I do want seems unreasonably hard.
I guess an OC line would be the easiest thing? Just come up with a scenario and start from scratch with original characters, but sometimes that's way harder to make successful with a partner you don't know because you don't have the shared shorthand of canon. I've done OC lines with a longterm partner in the past, and it was very enjoyable, but that's because we already had such a rapport and knew what the other liked, and that made it SO much easier to shape the line into something fun and interesting.

1) Okay, I'm late (bc rl sucks), but I'm back and I'll gradually address everything. "Also do not feel any pressure to respond to my multiple essays! I understand completely!"The same goes to you, bc I feel like I'm bothering you too much. That being said, I truly enjoy talking to you. Not only you offer fresh/perceptive insights into the characters' minds (which made me a. reconsider scenes and motives, b. wanna rewatch S1 --some scenes you're commenting on are SO fuzzy in my head-- mind you,
2) 2) I’m already rereading the book), but you also provide such hilarious, sarcastic lines (some of them are absolute killers). <3 I logged in to read one of your responses yesterday morning (while at work, yes, but shhh) and I really had to bite my lip in order to keep my sound of laughter concealed. Well. I ended up looking like a total goof (no doubt), bc I couldn’t manage to keep a straight face. a) “HAHA, I figured it wasn’t you. I don’t know how but sometimes even anon’s have different
3) personalities” I know you have an inkling of who’s who. :D But damn, that ‘lesbianing’ bit had me giggling. Kudos, fellow anon. Since we’re on the subject, I have another question about your fic (if you don’t mind): is it post s2 or s1/s2 canon divergent? b) “Add horrid fangirls to that and it’s a big ass no lol.” Ugh. Fandom smh manages to sour my opinion of characters/ships/series I personally like. Especially when fans start pestering the creators to cater to their whims or harass actors
4) or start ship wars. Double ugh. c) “So, that’s the Mass Effect connection!” Two more similarities: i. Mass Effect’s Miranda Lawson got a lot of fandom hate back then (even though she was a famous character), just like Serena. ii. She has a back-and-forth, bickering (hateful but not THAT complex) relationship with another female character. d) “I have seen Westworld! Well, okay, just the first season. I got too tired/confused to get past the 2nd season premiere.” Oh, sorry. I shouldn’t have
5) assumed. Believe me when I say it’s a good thing you stopped watching when you did. The overall quality of the series remained pretty much the same (e.g. acting, cinematography, direction), but, oh boy, some new plot twists (which I usually like) are SO OVER THE TOP in order to impress (?) the audience. It’s reached a point where some characters are unrecognizable, bc they’re servants to the plot. Maeve has a lot bigger arc in S2 and Newton is thriving (imo, S2!Maeve >> S1!Maeve), but so is
6) Strahovski/Serena. :D e) “don’t go around bitching at people who say shitty things or stuff I don’t agree with, or blocking anybody who doesn’t like her."Ah, another thing we have in common. There were times I’ve been blocked by fandom people (with beautiful edits) that I NEVER interacted with (except for maybe reblogging from each other). That’s not me complaining. Like I said, each to their own.I just find this phenomenon funny at times. Story time. Once, an out of nowhere anon (whose msg I
7) didn’t publish, bc drama is SO not my thing) said they’d block me, bc of an uploaded gifset for a canon pairing (which wasn’t to their taste apparently) that was tagged as #[series]edit (although the ship!portmanteau was right there, too, so that people could easily block it). I remember being like: "Okay. Good for you, anon!” LOL. f) “I dunno if you see spoilers but there’s one about them.) She needs therapy so much more than a cutesy feelgood storyline.” I did NOT actually, but feel free to8) enlighten me.
——–
I am sort of back! (RL does get in the way of incredibly lengthy essays about fictional TV shows!) NO APOLOGIES NECESSARY!! I am just so happy I get to read all these excellent thoughts, analyses, and feelings you have! (and that we clearly share lol, including the sheer amusement of your writing!). I really want to write more at the mo but my hands are doing that weird old lady thing where you can see the veins popping out and it makes me v uncomfortable to look at. Especially since I have little baby hands. I hate it.
Ok, I’m now kneeling on the floor and the computer is on the kitchen island. This is better. I cannot see the top of my hands.
SO. Where was I? OW. my kneeeessss. This is a bad idea.
I’m so lost. Fic question. right. It’s post-S2. Like… quite post-S2. I didn’t even deal with HOW or WHY June is back in the Waterford’s house tbh cos I can’t be bothered to sort that out. (Thanks, show.) So, it just assumes that for some reason, she’s back. Which, if the BTS pics/video is to be believed, that’s the case anyway.
Fangirls (and boys ofc) ruin so much for me. Even if I like the same thing initially. Ugh. Then sometimes they’ll annoy me so much that I end up liking the complete opposite of what they like. Dunno why.
No worries about Westworld! It’s a reasonable assumption! Please don’t apologise, my friend. I do agree that Thandie was very good in S1. IIRC, her character was my fav (other than Clementine lol). Yvonne S2 was just next level shit to me. Like, what you’re saying makes me wanna give S2 WW another shot but when shows get overcomplicated, they’re not much fun anymore when I’m like “BUT WHAT IS HAPPENING LOL”.
>> “There were times I’ve been blocked by fandom people (with beautiful edits) that I NEVER interacted with (except for maybe reblogging from each other)”
EXACT SAME. It was actually in THT fandom most recently lol. Like, I reblogged one of their pretty edits once. Ever. I didn’t even say anything snarky or bitchy or rude in tags. I don’t think I added any commentary at all. Next thing I know? BLOCKED. Never interacted with them in any way whatsoever. (Typical N/J fangirl lol.) It’s the strangest behaviour and it’s that kind of thing that sours me towards sects of fangirls, and sometimes even the characters they like. Maybe that’s just petty but I think it actually just reinforces pre-existing feelings I had towards the character or pairing.) The only blogs I block are ones that are gross, RP, or spam. (RP blogs is a long history of them stealing and spamming and adding awful commentary to my posts way back in the day, so I just… block em. lol.)
>> “they’d block me, bc of an uploaded gifset for a canon pairing (which wasn’t to their taste apparently) that was tagged as #[series]edit (although the ship!portmanteau was right there, too, so that people could easily block it). I remember being like: “Okay. Good for you, anon!” LOL.”
Oh. My… WHAT. There’s a very odd sense of entitlement here that seems so peculiar to me. Like, that’s what the blacklisting feature is for? I’ve put every version of my most despised pairings, characters, etc. and it works? Very rarely does it miss on. I guess we’re just dramaphobic, mature old fandom farts. Like, “Kids, let me sit you down and tell you about this site before you could block things. Before even XKit was invented…” Not to mention every other website ever lol.
HOLY GROSS… I just got up and a centipede fell off me!! WHYYYYYY. THIS IS WHY I DON’T SIT ON THE FLOOR. (we live near the beach/woods so we get lots of bugs no matter how clean we are…) no more painful kneeling for me i guess…
OKAY. Spoilers. It’s not much but other than the June in Martha costume (which was shown in the teaser Superbowl trailer anyway by now)… there were set pics of Emily, Sylvia, Nicole, and Luke all happy and smiling. IIRC. I can’t find the post anymore. So it may not have been in character. But I dunno… it all seems… too easy? Like, I’m glad Emily is safe but omg. She’d better not be all hunky dory “I stabbed a lady and threw her down the stairs, murdered another, and ran a dude over with a stolen car, but now I’m Canada, I’m all healed!” (Not including the heart attack/crotch kicking here cos that was fair play to Emily. She deserved that.) Like, honestly, as much part of me was like YESSSS at all of those, still… that’s grievous bodily harm with intent to kill, flat out murder, and vehicular manslaughter. For Emily to do those things, you don’t do those crimes without being really broken and damaged. And… yeah. That doesn’t magically disappear when you hop over a border.
