whats the oldest thing you own?

ah wow that’s quite a question, but I think I have the answer! This vintage 7th edition players handbook of Basilisks + Battlements, published in (if I recall correctly) the mid 2030s? So really really old school! This was back when they were experimenting with the AR books with the animated illustrations and stuff! This copy took a little restoration but with some help I managed to get them working properly.

I mentioned about how I have a hookup for cool old world stuff in another ask - this cost me an arm and a leg but it was really worth it! I don’t really have time or like, anyone to play with but it’s just a cool piece of history haha.

OH haha yes should clarify just speaking in metaphor! and that’s my EXO unit - I was getting out as I took that picture, so still had the bottom half on. Those big legs are super fun to stomp around in!

and it’s just to fight the elements, as well as granting some enhanced speed and (particularly useful) strength. If there’s some heavy lifting that needs to be done I’ll usually hop in one of these.

what sort of job may include magnet suit? and wow, diving suit? including sandstorms i thought there is no place to dive, was i wrong?

Magnet workers are usually the guys you see fixing stuff up on the domes - the magnetic grapples help them scale the supports of the structure to climb up to whatever it is that needs installing or patching up.

and, yeah around the project there isn’t many places to dive. I’m pretty sure there’s a lake to the east. I think (if I’m remembering this right) this area used to be known for its lakes but most are dried up now.

But, I mean, I don’t know where you’re sending this from but surely you can see the benefit of the diving suits though? particularly in the sunken domes there’s whole sections of filtration and coolant and even residential parts completely submerged. Someone’s gotta go out there and fix them.

and to answer your second question - yes absolutely!!!!! Growing my own stuff here just makes sense, and cuts down so much on ration shipments from back home. In fact I am just about to go and make myself a big butternut squash soup :)

do you get to go outside at all? do you have favorite places to go?

Hah, no, outside isn’t really…. Safe. Again, I have the means to traverse a little while and make routine fixes for maintenance and stuff but yeah not as a past time. Without proper shielding or a ship it’s really not safe.

Sorry, rambling. Favourite place is definitely my main lab - it’s getting crowded in there! The sunshine has been doing wonders for all the plants :) 🪴

Are there other types of exo suits? You mentioned that one assists with speed and strength, are there others that have different benefits/uses?

oh absolutely! I’ve seen jet pack suits, diving suits, magnet suits, but I’ve just been assigned the standard EXO. Again I really don’t need it past outside repairs, the more specialised units are reserved for, well, more specialised jobs.

Just moving between the air conditioning ducts as I try and get work done. I am hoping nothing messes up outside because being cramped in the EXO in this heat sounds unbearable :(

so, i know you don't really get to go outside, but you've shown us your window. is there anything about where you currently are that is particularly nice to look at?

not… really? Just can see the other side of the facility and a whole lot of dust and stuff. Although - on really clear days, and I mean super lucky days, you can see the mountains. They’re so beautiful, huge, ancient. It makes me sad to see them like this.
