So I own an automation business. People come to me when they'd like to cut operational costs in their business or they're struggling with their workload. And I can usually help them by writing code to do some of their work for them. But what about the rest of their work? If I can automate 30% of their work, that still leaves 70%.A while back I made my first post on automation ( [If you're not using automation you're wasting your time and money](https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/8sqb7q/if_youre_not_using_automation_youre_wasting_your/)) and got a fantastic response (And, full disclosure, a few leads too). Today I'd like to talk about my favorite automation story.Disclosure: Together with my father I run three small businesses and also work as a freelance automation developer. Both of my businesses are highly automated and I've helped over 30 clients save more than a combined 100+ hours every day.If you'd like to read some of my previous posts, please check them out here:* [Thank you guys for making my day](https://old.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/ex4fig/thank_you_guys_for_making_my_day/)* [If you're not using automation you're wasting your time and money](https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/8sqb7q/if_youre_not_using_automation_youre_wasting_your/)* [Automation: Three short examples](https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/aqilju/automation_three_short_examples/)* [Automation #5: How one client made themselves unemployed](https://new.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/anrhbl/automation_5_how_one_client_made_themselves/)* [Why Automation Matters #3: How i achieved a temporary monopoly overnight](https://new.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/9azsbx/why_automation_matters_3_how_i_achieved_a/)But first, what was I actually selling? It used to be my biggest bane: Hopping on calls with clients over and over again only to tell them it's something I can't automate. Plus that's lost money. That's lost time spent on those calls and doing technical analysis. Here's another fact: Labor in India is much, much cheaper than labor in the states. And not just labor but the cost of living. To put that into perspective, here's my health insurance premium: $50 per year. No I'm not kidding.Combine that with the immense amount of talent that's available and there's a real opportunity here. Why people don't like to hire virtual assistants and what I did about itVirtual assistants are great! Yet people are often skeptical to hire somebody off the internet that lives on the other side of the world. And with good reason. A virtual assistant might disappear overnight, there's no liability if they cause damages and much more. Here was my innovation: I could bridge this gap by providing seasoned professionals working out of my offices and with full benefits. They're not unreliable people over the internet that can disappear any time, they're real professionals with years of experience. What's more, working in a supervised environment, you know you're actually getting value for your money. There's somebody there to make sure the assistant you're paying $7 an hour for is not slacking off on their phone on your time. If your assistant is not doing a good job, they can be replaced without you having to spend hours on hiring again. And the best part? They don't lose their job if you terminate your contract with the company! They are simply reassigned to another clientHow I (Finally) managed to get more salesHere's the thing: Even after I sell people on the high quality of my virtual assistant company, people are still on the fence. And after a few months, I realized a breakthrough: Once people try the service and realize how good it is, they are three times more likely to convert! So I offered a no-obligations free trial for one day. Get an assistant, work with them for a day, see if you like it. If you don't like it, no problem, you don't pay a single penny.I'm great at coding. I'm great at operations and processes. I'm great with numbers. I suck with sales. I'm a technical guy so this was a big breakthrough for me. Let me know your thoughts (And since this is a new business, if you have any other ideas to market it, I'd absolutely love to hear them!)Also if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Though if it's a question about automation, please post it on one of my automation threads so other people also benefit more from it
