Sex Education

Sex Education in schools began in the 1800s, but has been brought up for debate many times, due to concerns of parents and states arguing if it is their place to teach young kids about sex. Currently, states determine how they want to implement sex education in schools and the government funds those programs. Most states participate in giving sex education in schools, but states like Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas do not require it. This policy serves as instrumental learning, in Paul Sabateir’s type of policy learning, because sex ed programs work in favor for fighting against population growth. The reason why is because students become aware of the dangers that comes with having sex and are persuaded to wait till they have careers and such. The states that don’t require this policy has the highest teen pregnancy rates in the US, whereas those that do have a more educated population that tend to wait till they are older to have kids, which is the goal in slowing the population rate.
