"[D] [NIPS 2017] Ask a Symposium Anything: Interpretable ML Symposium"- Detail: Dearest reddit,On Thursday at NIPS there will be a Symposium on Interpretable ML, featuring 33 accepted papers and a smorgasbord of talks -- both invited talks and short spotlights to highlight some of the top accepted papers.“Ok, but hold on,” you may interject, “is all this interpretable stuff really necessary? Isn't black-box ML good enough?” It’s a great question with strong arguments on both sides, so why not address it head-on via a 2v2 debate! In corner 1 will be Patrice Simard and Rich Caruana, and in corner 2 Yann LeCun and Kilian Weinberger.In addition to debate, we’ll have a more free-form panel discussion with Hanna Wallach, Kiri Wagstaff, Suchi Saria, Bolei Zhou, and Zack Lipton, where panelists will discuss the latest approaches and results, pontificate on current challenges, and give thoughts on the merits of possible future directions on which the community could focus.It is for this last component that we appeal to you, denizens of this fine subreddit, to submit questions for the panel!
