Manhattan Mincha Map by Jaime Permuth
1. Shiur Before Davening
2. OU Minyan
3. Wall Street Synagogue
4. Eagle Paper Minyan
Mincha is the most fragile of prayers. It is typically caught on the run, sandwiched between a hurried lunch and return to the ordeals of the workday. Even if prayed somewhat leisurely after work in the late afternoon or early evening, it nonetheless must share the spotlight with the evening prayer that is ennobled by the awesome Shema. One might say mincha is the poor cousin of shacharis and the younger brother of maariv. [x]

Jaime Permuth, our teacher in “Photography Essay” gave us an assignment to explore Chelsea Neighborhood in Manhattan and take some shoots that would represent street life. What is interesting about this place?... Chelsea attracts you with a mix of old and new New York. Last century’s red brick buildings make contrast with glass skyscrapers. Brandy stores compete with old antique boutiques and flea market counters. Neighborhood’s various communities create a distinctive atmosphere. Here you can still find the retro style which reminds you New York in 60th...So I tried to introduce my retrospective in Chelsea neighborhood

Tumblr media
Guatemalan photographer Jaime Permuth stops by the ICP Store this Friday, April 12, for a signing of his book Yonkeros.
Yonkeros documents "The Iron Triangle": Willets Point, a small and often overlooked enclave of New York City that is home to junkyards and scrap metal businesses. Permuth's beautiful black-and-white photographs highlight local workers and their tools and materials.
Permuth's photographs have been shown at several venues in New York City, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Queens Museum of Art, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Museum of the City of New York, The Jewish Museum, El Museo del Barrio, and The Brooklyn Museum of Art. He has also exhibited internationally at the Museo Nacional de Arte Moderno in Guatemala, Casa del Lago in Mexico City, and the Israeli Parliament.
Permuth is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts where he teaches in the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography program.
