Over to Roland Garros…
Third seed Dino Prizmic, who had a rich Challenger history throughout this semester thanks to the ATP’s Junior Accelerator program, faced eighth seed Juan Carlos Prado Angelo, who could make history by being the first Bolivian who reached this stage (plus, if he won the title). Most notably, Prizmic came out of the top half by defeating Darwin Blanch (the youngest of the Blanch brothers, which notably included Ulises & Dali),, while Prado came out of the stacked bottom half (which also included the likes of Joao Fonseca, Joel J. Schwaerzler, and Jan Hrazdil, some of which had notable previous ATP/Challenger experiences) by defeating the Australian Open junior finalist, Learner Tien, 6-1, 7-5.
Prizmic turned out to dominate the first set. After holding the first game, he went after Prado’s forehand until the latter erred for Prizmic’s break point prior to its conversion (2-0), but he was also notably having a forehand winner to start the second game to press Prado more from the baseline. Subsequently, Prizmic averted further damage and held his service game to 3-0 even if he previously had to face around 2-3 break points (3-0).
Several moments later, Prizmic found himself breaking to 5-1 at the expense of Prado’s other forehand error, and had the opportunity to serve for the breadstick. After another scenic route, Prizmic successfully served the breadstick (6-1) with an ace, asserting his dominance while Prado tried to find another hole to step his game up.
