Japan-Vietnam Celebrates 50 Years: Princess Anio Opera

  A Harmonious Overture
In a stirring celebration marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, in seamless collaboration with the 'Princess Anio' Executive Committee, composed of Brain Group, Yamaha Music Vietnam, and NPO International Exchange Promotion Council, has unveiled a spectacular new opera, 'Princess Anio.' This eagerly anticipated world premiere graced the stage on September 22nd at the majestic Hanoi Opera House in Vietnam.   Dignitaries and Royal Attendance The opening night welcomed esteemed guests, including Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Executive Committee to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Japan-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations, as well as Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Princess Akishino, who graced the occasion during their official visit to commemorate this historic milestone. The venue was abuzz with dignitaries, embassy officials, supporting organizations, and sponsoring companies, clearly demonstrating the immense anticipation and support surrounding this new opera. When the curtains finally fell, the audience erupted in enthusiastic applause, showering the performers with praise for their captivating stage presence and awe-inspiring performance.  
A Triumphant Overture
The celebration continued beyond the opening night, with performances scheduled for a total of three days, on the 23rd (Saturday) and 24th (Sunday). The second day featured Bui Thi Chan as Princess Anio and Kohei Yamamoto as Sotaro Araki, while the third day showcased the dynamic duo from the premiere, Dao To Loan and Yusuke Kobori.  
A Tale of Diplomatic Love
This remarkable project, conceived in the fall of 2020, serves as a poignant tribute to the 50 years of friendship between Japan and Vietnam. "Princess Anio" draws its inspiration from the timeless "actual love stories" that have transcended generations in both countries. Following its world premiere in Hanoi, the "Japan Premiere Performance" is set to take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial Auditorium in Tokyo.

Moreover, Honorary Advisors, Ambassador Takio Yamada, and Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu have played pivotal roles in this opera project, effectively bridging the cultural ties between Japan and Vietnam. Behind the scenes, visionary minds further contribute to its success, including Tetsuji Honna, the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and Trinh Tun Linh, the Representative of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Naomasa Furukawa, the Executive Committee Chairperson of the 'Princess Anio' Executive Committee, has tirelessly led this endeavor.
