Johannes de Stokem: Hor oires une chanzon (Odhecaton) From the one of the first books of music ever printed with moveable type, we present the five part chanson "Hor oires une chanzon." In 1501,  Ottaviano Petrucci published the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton.   Odhecaton represents a cross section of popular music from the renaissance, and even though the music was originally texted, Petrucci published the compositions completely untexted, presumably for instrumental performance. The renaissance consort was the ideal group for performing this music; in this case, a consort of renaissance recorders. This video is a collaboration between Voices of Music and the San Francisco Early Music Society (SFEMS), recorded live at the SFEMS Recorder Workshop, directed by Rotem Gilbert and Hanneke van Proosdij.
