In the whole “what would the Starks do if Jon’s parentage ever came to light” debate, the most interesting figure to me is Robb Stark. Ned is already caught between a rock and a hard place: duty and love to both his king and his sister’s son, though he already committed treason once to save Lyanna’s boy. Catelyn the embodiment of the Tully words, “family, duty, honor”, is fiercely loyal to her husband and children - but not to Jon. So if she was ever put in a position to choose, it’s obvious what she would do. Then there’s Robb. He’s his father’s heir, his mother’s pride. He’s named after Robert Baratheon, the ruling king of the seven kingdoms, as a testament to his father’s upbringing and love for his friend. But Jon is his brother; his best friend; his greatest companion. Where Ned’s choice would leave him conflicted, Robb doesn’t share the same loyalty to the king. So when forced to fight for the crown or his brother’s life, he’d obviously choose his brother. Which would be an interesting twist of fate. Ned and Robert rebelled for their lives many years prior. How interesting it would be for the boy who bears Robert’s name and the boy who bears Ned’s face to rise in rebellion again.

nonsexual dominance with jon x f!reader

i wrote this in a daze (yes i’m ovulating what ab it) there’s smth so inherently maddening about jon snow and his quiet dominance

pulling you into his lap when there’s plenty of open seats, because he feels at ease with your weight on him and you can’t deny you feel much more relaxed with his chest pressing into your back

jon who doesn’t even notice what he’s doing until robb looks pointedly at the hand he’s planted around your waist, you’re about to attend a meeting with the elder clan leaders, there is some sort of decorum that jon isn’t upholding and you flush at his brother’s stare, he settles instead for a hand at your lower back leading you to the tent

who is lifting a spoon of his soup to your lips when you ask to try it, your cheeks warm as you take his hand in both of yours to lead the spoon to your parted mouth. you could feed yourself, but jon is watching you with that unwavering intensity that makes your stomach churn. your lips close over the spoon and you can’t be sure if the look jon is giving you makes you hum at the taste or the soup is actually that good. he doesn’t look away until you confirm that it’s good and without another word he’s sliding the bowl towards you.

jon who without realizing it has slightly conditioned you, who could blame you when he tells you that you’re his good girl just for drinking water and remembering to eat on time. it’s no surprise you go out of your way to get those compliments and praise, finishing your chores and being extraordinarily productive

when you’re in a crowd or near people jon isn’t particularly comfortable with, he’s grabbing your hand or leading you by your waist.

sometimes when it all becomes too much and you’re fidgeting in your spot, he disregards everything else happening in the room and tips your chin up with gentle fingers to make you meet his gaze. he doesn’t say anything and he doesn’t need to, when his otherwise steely gaze softens and he looks at you with a question clear in his eyes, are you okay? and the answer is almost always a slight shake of your head to nod, jon always waits for your eyes to soften around the edges, your lips to become less pursed before he releases his soft hold on your chin

the instances where you can’t bring yourself to find comfort in the warm brown eyes that meet yours, he’s deftly fixing the problem, either removing both of you from the situation or comforting you

when you’re on your period/not feeling well he’s not asking you to do anything, even ordering you to stay in bed and rest while he takes care of everything, you insist it’s not that bad and that your condition isn’t stopping you from from helping out, but he’s not listening to any of it. he feeds you, helps you drink water, even dresses you as if you’re incapable, it doesn’t bother you though, you know it helps him feel at ease.

jon can’t help the way he behaves, it’s all he’s ever known. you had to adjust to it at first, him telling you to dress warmly, to remember to eat, to drink water. you didn’t realize it actually bothered him when you didn’t, you thought he was just being kind. it became very apparent that your jon was entirely devoted to your welfare at all times when he stopped in his tracks to walk over to you and tighten the clasps of your cloak and removed his pelt to circle your neck, grumbling about the cold and your indifference. when he was satisfied that you were warm he pressed a kiss to your forehead and went on with his day.

Braids - Jon Snow x Reader Thoughts.

Sorry about no bots tonight, it was late when I got home and I was so tired. As an apology take some Jon Snow x Reader thoughts :))

Suppose this could kind of be classed as gender neutral, the only sort of fem being the long hair and handmaidens which I think a guy could have too 🤷‍♀️

You could have gotten your handmaiden to do it, or even Sansa. Yet, you didn't. Who better to tie your hair up for you than your husband?

Jon had always loved watching you braid your hair. He'd always be laying in bed with you sitting on the edge, your delicate fingers brushing through the soft strands, weaving the sections together into a braid. There was something about you working so delicately on a little braid that filled him with warmth.

When you injured your hand pretty badly, and you were unable to tie up your own hair, he offered to tie it up one late night after he had watched you grumble with frustration at your inability to do it. Jon wouldn't dare admit it out loud but it was a little endearing watching you so adamant about doing it yourself yet so clearly struggling with it.

He was pretty sure that he'd be able to do it, he had watched you do it plenty of times. It was only a braid, anyway, how hard could it be?

When you allowed him to, sitting between his legs, patiently letting him try to figure it out. He came to realise that it was maybe a little harder than he thought. It turned out a little messy but you didn't mind. You didn't care how messy the braid ended up looking, you just enjoyed the comforting silence and the intimate touches of his hands running through your hair so delicately.

Jon, determined to braid your hair perfectly, asked to try again the next morning, albeit a little sheepishly. You just chuckled softly and agreed, sitting between his legs once more as he got to work. The braid was a little better this time, and you wore it throughout the day, happy to display the braid your husband worked so diligently on that morning.

You didn't care for the Ladies who whispered about your messy hair. You adored the braid that Jon worked so hard on and you'd be glad for him to be the one to do your hair throughout the time it takes for you hand to heal, even if it is just a simply and slightly messy braid.

And even after your hand heals, Jon still often braids your hair before bed. He’d gently runs his hands through the strands and weaves them into a braid before he pulls you into his arms, laying back on the bed with you curled into his side, his face tucked into your neck as you told him how pretty the braid looked.

The way Arya Stark is uniting the Mountain clans to fight together -

Galbart Glover’s maester had claimed the mountain clans were too quarrelsome to ever band together without a Stark to lead them. - Asha Greyjoy, The Wayward Bride, ADwD

The way Asha assumes there is no Stark to unite the Mountain clans to fight - but there is! Her being taken by surprise when attacked by the Mountain clans because there is a Stark pushing these different groups to take on the Ironborn and the Boltons - Arya Stark!

The power of Arya Stark, still thousands of miles away in a different continent and yet uniting different, warring mountain clans to band together and fight for her!!

Similar to Jon Snow, uniting together the different, warring Freefolk and convincing them to fight for him against the Boltons. And let's not forget that it's Jon Snow who send Stannis to the Mountain clans in the first place.

Arya Stark and Jon Snow uniting disparate groups under them, to fight for them. Both characters are not actively involved in Northern politics (Arya more so than Jon given Jon's tacit support for Stannis' campaign) and yet continue to influence it to a great degree, changing the political landscape of the North and will be the reason that the North will get rid of the Boltons in the next book.

jonsa antis claiming jon and sansa hate each other and that’s why jonsa won’t happen is so funny to me. they absolutely do not hate each other and you need to reread the books if you think they do. but even if they did, literally when has two characters hating each other ever disqualified them from having a romance? have none of you heard of enemies to lovers? did you somehow forget about pride and prejudice? why are we even having this discussion??

I'm sure this has been theorised before but I was thinking that since Jon has many dreams linking him to the Winterfell's crypts maybe there is a document of his birth or his parents' wedding ( in case they did married) hidden in Lyanna's tomb.

I admit that when it comes to an important document showing Jon's Targaryen heritage, I prefer to think that it's safe on Howard Reed's hands instead of being hidden in Winterfell under everyone's noses. I like the symmetry of Howard Reed potentially having an important document regarding Jon's Targaryen side, and Maege Mormont and Galbart Glover carrying Robb's will (an important document from Jon's Stark family side).

The fan discussed moral argument about bastards in this universe are not the same as the in universe legal argument. Stop mistaking these two things and realize both discussions can co exist at the same time and both be correct.
