Jamie at Audio Antihero alerted me to this new release from Oxford, England (now living in New York) based musician Max Blansjaar. "Anna Madonna" is pure pop perfection that make Ray Davies proud. I keep thinking of the music of Eugene McGuinness and The Magnetic Fields when I hear this song.

Blansjaar is only 21 years old and his command of pop also reminds me of Sondre Lerche. "False Comforts" was recorded with Katie Von Schlieicher.

The full album will come out in June via Oxford, England label Beanie Tapes.

Okay, let’s do this one more time....

Her name is Persephone Pemberton. From Earth-713, she originates from the city of New Kiev, an amalgamation of New York City and Kiev, Ukraine. 

In this universe, the legend of The Scarlet Witch was treated as prophecy. Some sects even worshipped her as a goddess. So prolific was her mythos that eventually, Alchemax became determined to bring this prophecy to fruition. In order to do so, they began running human experimentation, lying to the masses that these experiments were meant for medical research.

Persephone became a voluntary subject of one of these experiments. Her parents died when she was young, and she was raised by her older brother, Patrick. From an early age, Persephone showed scientific aptitude, and a deep fascination with the meeting point where science and magic intersect. When she volunteered for the Alchemax program, Patrick volunteered with her.

They were bitten by a radioactive spider.....that had been infused with dark magic. Chaos magic.

Persephone survived. Patrick.....didn’t.

When she watched her brother die, the immense power that was now running through Persephone’s veins manifested all at once; pure and uncontrolled. All of her pain, her grief, her rage, all of it poured out of her in a single instant in a massive burst of magical power.

Her power l e v e l l e d the city. There was nothing left. No Alchemax. No Oscorp. No villains to fight. No people to protect. There was just.....her.

The Spider-Witch.

Persephone has become something more than just the Scarlet Witch. She is the point at which science and magic intersect. She can shoot webs and use magic to facilitate flight. She has telekinesis, enhanced physical strength, mind reading abilities, superhuman agility and reflexes. But more than even all of that....she can follow each string of the web that makes up the multiverse, and traverse it as she pleases. She can open up portals of her own between dimensions, without the use of a nifty watch. 

(As you can imagine, Miguel O’Hara does not like this one bit.)

With nothing left in her own universe, she began to travel the multiverse, meet other Spiders, help them defend their worlds. In many different Earths, Persephone Pemberton is known as everything from a world famous singer to a teacher of astronomy and divination. 

But there is only o n e Persephone Pemberton. Only one Spider-Witch.

She is entirely too powerful. And her power makes her dangerous.

In January 2021, ahead of the second-season premiere, the series was renewed for a third season which premiered on January 24, 2022. The second season premiered on January 25, 2021. Prior to studio shutdowns that occurred due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, most of the second season's production was completed. However, in September 2019, the decision to change networks was reversed. The series remained in development hell until May 2019, when it was announced that the series would instead air on TNT's sister network TBS for a release in the second quarter of 2020 and that it had already been renewed for a second season. While in development at TNT for over three years, the series faced numerous production issues and delays arising from creative differences between the series' producers and the network. Steven Ogg, Rowan Blanchard, and Sean Bean joined the main cast in the second season and both Chelsea Harris and Archie Panjabi joined the main cast in the third season. Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs star alongside Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, Susan Park, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Mike O'Malley, Annalise Basso, Jaylin Fletcher, Lena Hall and Roberto Urbina. The series questions class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival. The series, a reboot of the film's continuity, follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. Gaelic football is so interesting to me because it seems like there’s a lot of crossover between Gaelic and other footballs. Like you said, some going to Australia for AFLW but also lots of footballers/“soccer” players got their start in Gaelic. Aimee Mackin is a top Gaelic player but she also played football internationally for Northern Ireland and could have gone pro but decided to focus on Gaelic. Likewise Niamh Fahey, Saorise Noonan, Ciara Grant, and Leanne Kiernan all played Gaelic at senior or youth county level before deciding to focus on playing professional football, think Katie McCabe also played Gaelic growing up. The McGuinness sisters for Northern Ireland still play Gaelic for their club and used to play for county.

yea a lot of people grow up playing it and either continue or switch over to different sports that offer professional contracts
