Song Review: Grow Lights - “She Don’t Live Here Anymore”
When two bands aren’t enough, one forms a third.
Huffamoose and Fractals singer/guitarist Kevin Hanson debuts Grow Lights with “She Don’t Live Here Anymore.” And if the premiere single is any indication, Hanson, bassist Pete Donnelly and drummer Pat Berkery plan to specialize in anthemic power-pop.
Something tells me she’s not home/she don’t live here anymore, goes the refrain.
While the single eschews the quirkiness of Hanson’s other groups, “She Don’t Live Here Anymore” is ready made for radio with its power-chord hooks and bright vocal harmonies. And the the band’s latent sense of humor comes through in its brief introductory statement.
“Are you ready to rock? Oh, you're not sure? Whatever. Kevin Hanson, Pete Donnelly and Pat Berkery came together to form Grow Lights. The world was never the same. Be ready for a bevy of good-time tunes to make your life incredible and boundless.”
Bring it on.

Apparently Kevin Li made a bunch of tutorial videos for some of the spells from The Magicians! In this one, he also talks about the character's different tutting styles.

LA Confidential Retro Review- The Best Film Noir Since Chinatown
James Ellroy is an established author who has written a bunch of books about LA in the past, usually in the 50s or 60s. He loves this era. Which makes LA Confidential a must-read. That was an easy book to adapt to a film. The director of LA Confidential, Curtis Hanson, wasn’t as prolific as a director as Ellroy was as a writer, but he did make one masterpiece, and that’s LA Confidential, which…

Song Review: The Fractals - “The End of End of Days”
“The End of End of Days” sounds a lot like Huffamoose.
And that is because it is mostly Huffamoose - guitarist/singer Kevin Hanson, drummer Erik Johnson and bassist Jim Stager. And though Craig Elkins is missing, the Fractals’ followup to “Christopher Walken” has everything else, including musical excellence and humor.
Set to a see-sawing, acoustic/electric arrangement that toggles between saloon playfulness and power-chord crunching, it finds the trio still yearning for the mainstream success they so richly deserve.
I used to/I used to worry about/eternal/hellfire and how to get out/now I only pray good Christians wanna pay/enough to buy the album/and not download for free, Hanson sings.
If you know, you know - and you have an obligation to tell others about not only the Fractals, but the band from which they emerged.
