Samiyam - Snakes On The Moon by Leaving Records Samiyam is Sam Baker, hip-hop producer working out of the same dusty corners of Los Angeles that brought us Flying Lotus, Jonwayne, Gaslamp Killer, Ras G and so many others. Sam Baker's Album was his debut, released on Brainfeeder in 2011. More recent credits include production for Captain Murphy's Duality and Earl Sweatshirt's Doris. Matthew David McQueen from Leaving Records / Stonesthrow Records got in touch about making a video for the artist Kiefer to promote the Vinyl launch of Kiefer's 'Kickinit alone' Lp. I chose 'TubeSocks' as i just clicked with the simple but addictive melody. The whole album is little slice of brilliance. Anyway Kiefer has built up a modest Instagram following by posting home made movies of himself playing the keys. For this video Matthew suggested Kiefer shoot something along these lines and use it as starting point for the video although he was open to whatever i wanted to do. This video is pretty much made up from that little iphone movie that had 2-3 diff angles of him playing. I chopped it up, looped it and looped it and looped it.. COPY > PASTE > COPY > PASTE. The sticky notes, plastic toy and Parking Violation are all from the original film.. the only things that aren't are the TubeSocks and a little bit of background chalkboard animation filmed by Jan Erting.

This version is slightly different to the one released by Leaving Records / Stonesthrow's you tube as after i handed it in i added some TubeSocks into the mix but i was too late and the original one had already gone to press.

This was a fun video to make. Hope you dig.
