sometimes you read analysis that makes you want to tell the person to go watch Black Sails and then revise.
#when someone’s points are PRETTY solid - but you can tell they don’t know about Legitimacy (ENGLAND is going to give that to you?)#like. to be clear - Black Sails is NOT perfect by any means#but it provides SO many frameworks that are helpful for analyzing other media through#Legitimacy… The Power Of A Story… A Story Is True A Story Is Untrue… Perhaps The Trouble Was Going To Happen Anyway…#and every other show gets SO much more interesting when you have this analytical shorthand at your disposal#you also DESPERATELY want to tell these purely hypothetical meta-writers about Mimesis#(this would NOT fix them and would actually make them worse)#(but it would be WORTH IT)
