i really don't wanna keep comparing hoo and mcga
#like they're different things!!!!!!!!#but god. Samirah/Amir is sooooooo awesome and cute to be personally (correct me if they're like. bad representation of their culture)#and i like. didn't hate the romance in hoo! but it didn't make me yell or curl my toes like the 'be my anchor' moment#i don't know. i'm being silly#like Frazel was okay but marred by the knowledge of their ages#even if the ages weren't weird. it would have been Okay#Leo/Calypso was okay (derogatory) but marred by the fact that it was clearly just a tying up of loose ends re:Leo's love life + self esteem#i did not need to see every character in hoo paired up. looking at Nico and Will#i'm not even against SolAngelo! but i found it silly. the need to pair EVERYONE up. like look how they ended up for Jiper. another mediocre#ship. marred by their history with the whole illusion of a past as created by Hera#btw i blame Hera in part for Piper's comphet#like percabeth is still Good but that's because their whole thing was built up over 5 books. yknow? even then i'm not sure#how much of my enjoyment of them is nostalgia#for all i know they are also mediocre#i'm rambling#i just have a lot of thoughts apparently?#you may have read these tags and thought. 'don't forget Tyson/Ella!!!!!'#but i chalk Tyson/Ella up to the same weird instinct that Rick had to give Grover a girlfriend#i think it was genuinely a different vibe than the forced pairing up that 8/9 main characters got at the end of hoo#Reyna being the one exception and assigned aroace by the fandom. which i am actually very appreciative of#mostly the fandom interpretation of her is what i appreciate. but what's new#when it comes to hoo i appreciate the fandom interpretation a lot more than canon for quite a few things#(Nico is not one of them. canon Nico will always win. obsessed with him)#I'M RAMBLINGGGGGG#i just think a lot!!!!!!#idkkkkkkk#talking tag
