On one hand i do think its sad that many trans peoples first thought upon realizing they were trans is “oh shit” but it is funny that it gets to be a shared experience of dawning identity
#I remember not being told about anything wrt trans people and seeing the term 'transgender' for the first time#Like the second it became an option and i wasnt bound to something i was born with i knew what i was from that point on#Ive known i was trans since at least 10 years old and likely would have come out sooner had i not lived in such a conservative area#Not to say i immediately adopted it because i did struggle and tried to Force myself to feel comfortable with what i was born as#Which. ironically. backfired almost immediately and set in stone that i was what i was and it would be more painful to refuse than 2 embrace#I dont often talk about my experience because i largely kept my feelings to myself but its nice knowing im not alone out here...#Being trans doesnt have to be bad or miserable. It isnt our fault and you should never feel forced to 'shield' yourself from the world
