Lithium battery products|Lei Yun, from Carku, made a guest appearance on Shenzhen Radio 106.2 “E Road Player”
On July 20, Mr Lei Yun, the chairman of Shenzhen Carku Technology Co., Ltd. made a guest appearance on Shenzhen Radio 106.2 "E Road Player", talking with the host about lithium-ion products and introducing to listeners lithium-ion products such as car jump starter, outdoor power and wireless hairdryer.
Tumblr media
Zhang Yi, host of “E Road Players”  Audio-Shenzhen Radio 106.2 “E Road Players”
Q: Mr Lei Yun has been making battery products for a long time, right?
A: In 2004, I started working in the electronics industry, and now I've been in the industry for almost 17 years. We have made a lot of products related to batteries.
Chairman Lei Yun started his career in the electronics industry in 2004, and now he has been engaged in the research and development of lithium technology for more than 10 years, with rich experience in battery performance improvement. In 2011, he developed the world's first lithium battery car jump starter and obtained the invention patent. We make significant breakthroughs in R&D innovation every year and have obtained 309 global patents since the company was founded.
Tumblr media
Left: Zhang Yi, the host of "E Road Player" Right: Lei Yun from Carku
Q: In real life, there are too many battery application products,so you mainly serve car enthusiasts this, right?
A: Yes, and the first lithium-ion application we made is the car jump starter.
Q: When it was first invented, car enthusiasts felt that this product would not work, due to the need for a lot of currents, right? Also normally it can be used as mobile power, isn’t it?
A: Yes, although the line is very thin and small, actually it can instantly produce several hundred amps of current, which changes the concept of the product for many people. It can charge cell phones, laptops, and has an emergency lighting function.
First, Carku jump starter of lithium-ion application products
When the car is unable to start in the past, owners usually use battery wire. But if a second car can be found to help with the power, generally the rescue is called. So for car owners, it’s a good idea to have a car jump starter for multi-purpose vehicles. This type of product can also be seen as an extended version of the Charger, which is not much different from the charger. But the main difference from a regular charger is that it provides a greater output current.
Tumblr media
The instantaneous current is up to 200 amps or more when the car is started, and the general rechargeable battery can not withstand such a large current. While this car jump starter can support several hundred amps of current. Carku jump starter is such a good product, able to start the car and supply power to other products, used for multi-purpose.
Second, Carku outdoor jump starter of the lithium-ion products
Q: Are there more scenarios where outdoor power is used?
A: The demand for electricity in the open air is really difficult to meet, so we have made an upgrade based on the previous products, one is to increase the whole battery capacity to meet the specifications of many of our current products. For example, we can get up to two degrees of electricity. The other one is that in addition to charging the laptop with this kind of phone, what’s more, important is that we’re providing 220 volts of AC power. And our products received positive feedback from regular customers and outdoor players.
Q: Could I connect a plug-in board when charging? What interfaces are there on it? Can mainstream equipment be plugged indirectly?
A: Plug-in boards or devices can directly charge through a data line. Interfaces such as USB quick charging ports, TYPE-C ports, DC ports and cigarette lighter ports.
Q: If you choose an outdoor power supply, is the power different according to the appliances you use?
A: The conventional power ranks from 100 watts, 300 watts, 500 watts, 1000 watts and 1500watts. Our current products have a special technology, which means our product has the main battery, to expand the capacity, the secondary battery, equivalent to another battery, is added.Carku is a new brand of outdoor power. For different people and needs, Carku has developed outdoor power products with multiple power outputs of 100W, 500W, 600W, 1000W, etc. The battery material used is lithium-ion types, having high and dense energy, long cycle life, used more than 2000 times. Several multiple protection measures are taken on the circuit, such as software and hardware protection, including overload protection, high and low-temperature automatic power failure and other safety protection. The outdoor power supply has a 110V/220V AC voltage output interface, and its output power is between 100W-1500W, which can supply power for various types of appliances such as cell phones, computers, digital cameras, drones, fans, car refrigerators, rice cooker, electric tools, etc.
Carku outdoor power itself can reserve power. In addition to AC output, it also has USB-C, USB, DC and other multiple functional output interfaces, which can match the devices with different input interfaces. It can also be used in scenes such as self-driving tours, outdoor camping, outdoor photography, etc.
Also do not worry about running out of power. In a self-driving trip, the jump starter can be charged by a car charger or USB-C interface, and the solar panel.
Q: Currently can this outdoor jump starter be found online? If the user doesn’t know much about it, will there be, like, an experience?
A: We have it for sale in our online store. We have also recently prepared a similar activity to provide products so that some people who like the outdoors activities and camping can find our company to apply for a trial. It is offered to everyone for free. Because I think some people may not have used it, they do not know exactly what it is. After all, what I just said is that the main product is more than 2000¥. Is it okay for a lot of people to spend money on it? There may still be some concern. So there will be some activities in the future so that people can experience our product better.
Q: What other lithium fields have you ventured into? What are the main advantages?
A: We have made small appliances wireless. Now we are developing a hairdryer, and it is also wireless. First, we are not bound by the line, you can always charge as you go. The second one, it can also be quickly charged, fully charged in half an hour. The third is the waterproof design.
Q: Back to the hairdryer itself, how’s its blowing function?
A: As for the blowing function, we spent more than 100,000¥on the installed motor, so the wind volume is particularly large. And we now adjust a more appropriate temperature about 50 degrees, slightly lower than the traditional temperature, more humane, comfortable, while the traditional higher temperature to the hair is harmful.
Third, Shinn wireless hairdryer for lithium-ion products
After the interaction with the host, Mr Lei also talked about the development of a new product, Shinn wireless hair dryer, in order to bring the convenience of wireless in daily life.
Although it is exquisite and compact, the speed of 120,000 rpm definitely shows great performance, very strong wind, and will not make your hair matted. Everything is just right. Blowing an ordinary length of hair just takes a few minutes, and a little longer hair, no more than 10 minutes. Shinn employs wireless charging technology. When it is full charge, hot air lasts 15 minutes, cold air 1 hour, meeting the needs of a family.
With intelligent chip temperature control technology, shien wireless hair dryer's temperature is always controlled at 42 degrees spa wind, as comfortable as soaking in the spa. Not only can you dry your hair faster, but your hair will not be dry and frizzy after blowing, instead it will be shiny and smooth. Blowing hair can also help you care for your hair, killing two birds with one stone.
Fourth, how to choose lithium products?
Q: After listening to Mr Lei, there are some unrelated products, such as this outdoor power, this hairdryer, and the car jump starter. In fact, your company mainly focuses on the battery, right?
A: In fact, we mainly focus on battery technology, BMS management system, and how to go to the perfect combination of it, and then apply it in different scenarios.
Q: How to choose these products from the market, in terms of jump starters?
A: First of all, consider the company's establishment time, brand strength, brand popularity. For example, our brand is a famous product in Shenzhen and Guangdong Province, with a 10-year history. After all, we are pioneers in this industry. After the purchase, have the first look at the comments, and the actual test, and simulate the situation when the car went without power. The same goes for the outdoor power supply. Just plug in the charging device, and see how long it takes to charge, how long it will last, and multiply the power by the time it takes to calculate the capacity because there will be some false label capacity.

Importance of Battery Management System for e-Vehicles
Do you wish to carve out a niche in the market's behemoths?
But how will you compete with the leading brands?
Let us introduce you to the cutting-edge AI-powered IoT device- Battery Management System.
What is a Battery Management System?
A battery Management System refers to an electrical system that controls a rechargeable battery to ensure that it functions effectively and safely (BMS). It is designed to monitor the characteristics associated with the battery pack and its cells, use the gathered data to reduce safety concerns, and maximize battery performance.
The BMS is an electronic device that manages all diagnostic and safety tasks for high voltage management and electric charge balance.
Wireless battery management systems are very popular nowadays. It is seen as a critical aspect of e-mobility. While the addition of wireless makes BMS highly tempting, it also necessitates a great deal of attention. It combines all of the necessary hardware and software components for battery management, power, and other functions on a single chip.
The method enables optimal power consumption per cell for the greatest possible vehicle range, as well as sustainable and safe zero cobalt battery chemistry.
How does it work?
The device appears to be complicated due to its futuristic features. But it isn't. Its mechanism is easy, and you may operate with just your fingertips.
End-users may monitor total battery tracking via their mobile devices, which include a dashboard and graph that displays nearby charging stations, battery life, alarms and notifications for incorrect operations, and so on.
Whereas the corporation will be able to track the battery and its operation via websites.
Critical BMS Components
Every BMS serves three key tasks for each application.
As a thermal runaway in a battery pack can cause considerable damage, it protects the cells, the battery pack, and the equipment that it powers.
Extends the battery's life by controlling how and when it is used, reducing the number of charge/discharge cycles.
Maintains the battery in such a state that it is always ready to power the application when needed.
Tumblr media
Unique Features of Battery Management System
This IoT device is futuristic mechanization designed to transform the game of e-vehicle operating. Its key features are:
Monitoring of Cells
Because of the continual charging and discharging of the battery cells, they must be monitored. Every action that occurs should be reported and recognized, and the safety mechanism should be activated.
Algorithms are used by many integrated circuits and cell-monitoring circuits to perform these duties. It also includes a cell management controller, which receives voltage and temperature updates from the cell-monitoring circuit.
Over the Air(OTA) updates
OTA updates allow for the constant updating and improvement of a vehicle's performance and features. Because of technological breakthroughs in these upgrades, manufacturers now have the ability to continuously "freshen up" final products remotely.
On-board navigation
Navigation systems manage shared information, traffic, and battery life, as well as enhance electric vehicle economy per kilowatt-hour.
Geo-Fencing
Geofencing recognizes when your car reaches a low emission zone using GPS coordinates and begins optimizing high voltage battery charge. When your car enters a low-emission zone, it employs the electric vehicle mode to the greatest extent feasible.
RFID Tags for Driver
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a type of wireless communication in which drivers are allowed to pay for charging in an alternate way. RFID tags are used to sign up for and pay for different EV charging station networks, and you'll never have to worry about phone signals.
Enhancing Performance
BMS is used to maximize the performance of a battery. Setting the charge limitations of lithium-ion batteries between their minimum and maximum capacity is the best approach to use them. Overcharging or undercharging your batteries degrades the quality of your battery.
The BMS determines the amount of current necessary for charging and transmits it to the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) or Charger.
To prevent cell voltages from falling too low, the BMS interacts with the motor controller. It delivers a signal to notify the user of the state of their battery. The BMS also controls your battery's recharge via regenerative braking.
Diagnostics
The state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) of your battery are indicated in percentages so you may learn about its available potential and general health. BMS monitors any changes in behaviour or abnormalities in the cells when they interact with the battery pack.
The battery pack's problems are resolved by utilizing the stored error codes and documented diagnostic information. Depending on the scenario, the BMS can take remedial action or trigger the failsafe systems to keep the pack healthy.
Communication
The BMS communicates with the vehicle's Electric Control Units (ECUs). To guarantee the smooth operation of a vehicle, it collects all data from the battery parameters to the motor controller. When utilizing AC charging, the BMS signals the onboard charger to monitor and regulate the battery pack's charging.
The Road Ahead
E-vehicle market is about to boom and it’s a golden opportunity for battery manufacturers to raise the standard by offering their clients a full-fledged conversion kit with battery management system in order to compete and carve a niche of themselves in the competitive market.

USB Power Delivery is the fastest way to charge iPhone and Android devices
With the current generation of smartphones and their much faster processors and vivid, high-resolution displays, and always-on connectivity, demands on battery performance are now higher than ever.
You may have noticed that, while you are on the road, you're quickly running out of juice. If you have this problem, portable batteries and PD fast charger than what may have come in the box with your device may be the solution.
But not all portable batteries are the same, even though they might use similar Lithium Polymer (LiPo) and Lithium-Ion (Lion) cells for capacity and look very much alike. Plus, modern smartphone hardware from Apple and various Android manufacturers support faster-charging rates than what was previously supported.
If you use the charger that comes in the box of the current-generation iPhone hardware, or if you buy just any portable battery pack on the market, you're going to be disappointed. Ideally, you want to match your charger, battery, and even the charging cable to the optimal charging speeds that your device supports.
There are three different high-speed USB charging standards currently on the market. While all will work with your device using a standard legacy charge mode, you will want to match up the right technology to optimize the speed in which you can top off your phone, tablet, or even your laptop. Let's start by explaining the differences between them.
Legacy USB-A 2.0 and 3.0 charging
If your Android device or accessory still has the USB Micro B connector (the dreaded fragile trapezoid that's impossible to connect in the dark), you can fast-charge it using an inexpensive USB-A-to-USB Micro B cable.
If the device and the 20W USB C PD fast charger white port both support the USB 2.0 standard (pretty much the least common denominator these days for entry-level Android smartphones), you can charge it at 1.5A/5V. Some consumer electronics, such as higher-end vape batteries that use the Evolv DNA chipset, can charge at 2A. A USB 3.0/3.1 charge port on one of these batteries can supply 3.0A/5V -- if the device supports it.
If you are charging an accessory, such as an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds or another Bluetooth device, and it doesn't support either of the USB-A fast charging specs, it will slow charge at either 500mA or 900mA, which is about the same you can expect from directly connecting it to most PCs.
Many of the portable batteries on the market have both USB-C and multiple USB-A ports. Some of them have USB-A ports that can deliver the same voltage, while others feature one fast (2.4A) and one slow (1A).
So, you will want to make sure you plug the device into the battery port that can charge it at the fastest rate, if you're going to top off the device as quickly as possible.
USB Power Delivery
USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is a relatively new fast charge standard that was introduced by the USB Implementers Forum, the creators of the USB standard. It is an industry-standard open specification that provides high-speed charging with variable voltage up to 20V using intelligent device negotiation up to 5A at 100W.
It scales up from smartphones to notebook computers, provided they use a USB-C connector and a USB-C power controller on the client and host.
Batteries and 3 port PD fast charger that employ USB PD can charge devices up to 100W output using a USB-C connector -- however, most output at 30W because that is on the upper range of what most smartphones and tablets can handle. In contrast, laptops require adapters and batteries that can output at a higher wattage.
Apple introduced USB PD charging with iOS devices with the launch of the 2015 iPad Pro 12.9 and with OS X laptops in the MacBook Pro as of 2016. Apple's smartphones beginning with the iPhone 8 can rapidly charge with USB PD using any USB PD charging accessory; you don't have to use Apple's OEM USB-C 29W or its 61W power adapters.
In 2019, Apple released an 18W USB-C Power Adapter, which comes with the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Although Apple's charger works just fine, you'll probably want to consider a third-party wall charger for the regular iPhone 11 or an earlier model. The regular iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE only come with a 5W USB-A charger, which is woefully inadequate for getting your device charged up quickly.  And the current rumor mill seems to indicate that the iPhone 12 may not even ship with a charger in the box at all.
Fast-charging an iPhone requires the use of a USB-C to Lightning cable, which, until February 2019, needed Apple's OEM MKQ42AM/A (1m ) or MD818ZM/A (2m) USB-C to Lightning cables. Unfortunately, they're a tad expensive at around $19 to $35 from various online retailers such as Amazon.
There are cheaper third-party USB-C to Lightning cables. I am currently partial to USB-C-to-Lightning cables from Anker, which are highly durable and MFI-certified for use with Apple's devices.
It should be noted that, if you intend to use your smartphone with either Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto, your vehicle will probably still require a USB-A to USB-C or a USB-A-to-Lightning cable if it doesn't support these screen projection technologies wirelessly. You can't fast-charge with either of these types of cables in most cars, and there is no way to pass-through a fast charge to a 12V USB PD accessory while being connected to a data cable, either.
Qualcomm Quick Charge
Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs are used in many popular smartphones and tablets. It's fast-charging standard, Quick Charge, has been through multiple iterations.
The current implementation is Quick Charge 4.0, which is backward-compatible with older Quick Charge accessories and devices. Unlike USB PD, Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 can be delivered using the USB-A connector. Quick Charge 4.0 is exclusive to USB-C.
Quick Charge 4.0 is only present in phones that use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8xx, and it's present in many North American tier 1 OEM Android devices made by Samsung, LG, Motorola, OnePlus, ZTE, and Google.
The Xiaomi, ZTE Nubia and the Sony Xperia devices also use QC 4.0, but they aren't sold in the US market. Huawei's phones utilize Kirin 970/980/990 chips, which use its own Supercharge standard, but they are backward-compatible with the 18W USB PD standard. Similarly, Oppo's phones have SuperVOOC, and OnePlus uses Warp Charge, and issue its compatible charger accessories if you want to take advantage of higher wattage (30W/40W/100W) charge rates.
Like USB PD, QC 3.0 and QC 4.0 are variable voltage technologies and will intelligently ramp up your device for optimal charging speeds and safety. However, Quick Charge 3.0 and 4.0 differ from USB PD in that it has some additional features for thermal management and voltage stepping with the current-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs to optimize for reduced heat footprint while charging.
It also uses a different variable voltage selection and negotiation protocol than USB PD, which Qualcomm advertises as better/safer for its own SoCs.
And for devices that use Qualcomm's current chipsets, Quick Charge 4.0 is about 25% faster than Quick Charge 3.0. The company advertises five hours of usage time on the device for five minutes of charge time.
However, while it is present in (some of) the USB C dual PD fast charger that ship with the devices themselves, and a few third-party solutions, Quick Charge 4 is not in any battery products yet. It is not just competing with USB Power Delivery; it is also compatible with USB Power Delivery.
Qualcomm's technology and ICs have to be licensed at considerable additional expense to the OEMs, whereas USB PD is an open standard.
If you compound this with Google recommending OEMs conform to USB PD over Quick Charge for Android-based products, it sounds like USB PD is the way to go, right?
Well, sort of. If you have a Quick Charge 3.0 device, definitely get a Quick Charge 3.0 battery. But if you have a Quick Charge 4.0 device or an iOS device, get at USB PD battery for now.
Which battery should you buy?
Now that you understand the fundamental charging technologies, which battery should you buy? When the first version of this article released in 2018, the product selection on the market was much more limited -- there are now dozens of vendors currently manufacturing USB PD products.
USB-C connectors have been designed hand-in-hand with USB-C Power Delivery, to handle these new high levels of power. USB-C circuit boards are specially designed to carry this increased wattage without being damaged or overheating, for enhanced safety to users and their devices.
Older connectors, such as USB-A, were first introduced in 1996, when much less power was needed than that required by today’s smartphones and tablets. This older technology is less suited to handle this increased wattage and may not have the ability to monitor heat and circuitry abnormalities.
Whether it’s a small phone or a large laptop, the USB C PD fast charger detects the connected device to deliver the right amount of power to charge that device as fast as possible. This ensures fast charging without delivering too much power which could damage circuitry.

Mini excavators: Small size, big popularity
Mini excavators are one of the quickest growing equipment types, with the machine’s popularity seemingly ever-increasing. According to data from Off-Highway Research, global sales for the mini excavator were at their highest point ever last year, at over 300,000 units.
The major markets for mini excavators have traditionally been developed countries, such as Japan and those in Western Europe, but the last decade has seen their popularity rise in many emerging economies. Most notable of these is China, which is now by far the biggest mini excavator market in the world.
Considering that mini excavators essentially replace manual labour, this is perhaps a surprising turnaround in the most populous country in the world where there is certainly no shortage of workers. Although all is perhaps not as it seems in the Chinese market – see the box out ‘China and mini excavators’ for more details.
One of the reasons for the mini excavator’s popularity is that it is easier to power a smaller and more compact machine with electricity rather than the traditional diesel power. It is the case that, especially in city centres of developed economies, there are often strict regulations regarding noise and emissions pollution.
There is no shortage of OEMs that are currently working on, or have released electric mini excavators – back in January 2019 Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) announced that, by mid-2020, it will begin to launch a range of electric compact excavators (EC15 to EC27) and wheeled loaders (L20 to L28) and stop new diesel engine-based development of these models.
Another OEM looking at electric power for this equipment segment is JCB, with the company’s 19C-1E electric mini excavators. The JCB 19C-1E is powered by four lithium-ion batteries, providing 20kWh of energy storage. This is enough for a full working shift for the majority of mini excavator customers on a single charge. The 19C-1E itself is a powerful, compact model with zero exhaust emissions at point of use and one that is considerably quieter than a standard machine.
Small machine is a relatively light and fast mechanical equipment. Like hand-held power tools, concrete vibrator, frog tamper, mini transporter, woodworking machinery, steel machinery, mini dumper, motorized dump truck, welding, etc. are all small machines.
In addition to large machinery and equipment in construction should pay attention to the safe use, to prevent injury, a variety of medium and small machines also have different degrees of danger, must be used in accordance with the safety requirements.
Going electric
JCB recently sold two models to London-based J Coffey Plant, with Coffey Plant Division Operations Manager Tim Rayner commenting, “The major benefit is no emissions at point of use. Our workers are not subjected to diesel emissions when using the 19C-1E. Confined areas are now clearer and safer to work in too, as there is no longer a need for emissions control equipment such as extraction units and ducting. The JCB electric minis bring value to the business and the industry as a whole.”
Another OEM looking at electric power is Kubota. “In recent years mini excavators powered by alternative fuel sources – such as electric – have seen a surge in popularity,” says Glen Hampson, business development manager construction at Kubota UK.
“The main driver behind this is that electric equipment gives the operator the ability to work in regulated low emission zones. Electric machinery can also enable work to be carried out in confined spaces underground without producing harmful emissions. It’s reduced noise output also makes it great for construction work in urban or heavily populated environments.”
Kubota launched a prototype electric compact mini excavator in Kyoto City, Japan, at the start of the year and Hampson adds, “At Kubota, our main priority will always be the development of machines that match the needs of our customers – the development of electric machines will allow us to do just this.”
Bobcat recently announced that it was launching a new R-Series mini excavators from 2-4 tonne with a new range of five compact excavator models: the E26, E27z, E27, E34 and E35z. One of the standout features for this range is said by the company to be the Cylinder-Inside-Boom (CIB) design concept.
According to Miroslav Konas, product manager, Bobcat Excavators Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), “The CIB system aims to overcome what has been one of the weakest points in any mini-excavator – the vulnerability of the boom cylinder to damage such as that caused by colliding with the sides of trucks and other vehicles when loading waste and building materials.
“It does this by enclosing the hydraulic cylinder inside an extended boom structure, thus avoiding collisions with the top of the blade and the sides of vehicles. In fact, the boom structure protects the hydraulic boom cylinder in any position of its movement.”
Wood chipper is a kind of special equipment for producing wood chips, wood chipper is also called wood slicer, which is one of the wood processing series equipment.
Trenching machine, such as mini trencher, is one of the main types of construction machinery, a kind of trenching machinery used in earthwork construction, widely used in agricultural water conservancy construction, laying of communication cables and petroleum pipelines, municipal construction and military engineering, etc.
Useful tools and machines in home agriculture also include log splitter, stump grinder, etc.
Operator comfort
With the lack of skilled operators in the industry, keeping those behind the stick happy has never been more important. Volvo CE claim that the new 6-tonne ECR58 F generation compact excavator has the most spacious cab in the industry.
Operator well-being, confidence, and safety are supported through a simplified workstation and user-friendly experience. The seat-to-joystick position has been revised and improved, while still being suspended together – a technic that Volvo CE says it introduced to the industry.
Designed to offer the highest levels of operator convenience, the cab features soundproofing, numerous storage areas, and 12V and USB ports. A fully opening front window and slide side window contribute to all-around visibility and operators have an automotive style jog wheel, five inch colour display and easy-to-navigate menus.
Operator comfort is indeed important, but another reason for the general popularity of the mini excavator segment is the ever-increasing range of attachments on offer. For instance, Volvo CE’s ECR58 has a wide range of attachments which are easy to switch over, including buckets, breakers, thumbs, and the new Tilt Quick Coupler.
Talking about the mini excavator’s rise in popularity, Chris Sleight, managing director, Off-Highways Research, highlights attachments, saying, “At the lighter end, the range of attachments available mean it [a mini excavator] is often favoured over workers using hand-held air-powered tools. This is partly because this can be helpful in reducing workers’ exposure to noise and vibration, and also because it removes the worker from the immediate vicinity of the tool.”
Sleight also adds that, “In Europe and even North America the mini excavator is replacing other types of equipment. At the top end of the scale, its smaller footprint and ability to slew through 360 degrees means it is often now favoured over backhoe loaders.”
Bobcat’s Konas agrees with the importance of attachments, saying, “The various types of bucket we offer are still the main ‘tool’ from among the 25 different families of attachments we offer for our mini excavators, but we see a trend developing with more advanced hydraulic attachments growing in popularity. That’s why we developed our A-SAC system, which together with up to five independent auxiliary circuits available on our machines, we believe makes Bobcat the most advanced brand on the market to operate such complex attachments.
“Combining the arm-mounted hydraulic auxiliary lines and the optional A-SAC technology together enables a wide choice of machine customisation options to match any attachment requirement, further enhancing the role of these excavators as excellent tool carriers.”
Remote monitoring as a growing trend?
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) has published a white paper on the future of the compact equipment segment in Europe. In it they point out that 70% of the mini excavators sold in Europe are under three tonnes, helped by the fact that it is relatively straightforward to obtain a licence to tow one of these models on a trailer with a regular driving licence.
The White Paper predicts that remote monitoring will play an increasingly important role in the compact construction equipment market, of which mini excavators are an important part. The report says, “Tracking the location of compact equipment is particularly important, given that it moves frequently from one job site to another.
“Location and working hours data can therefore help owners, especially rental companies, with planning, enhancing efficiency and scheduling maintenance. Accurate location information is also vital from a security point of view – it’s much easier to steal a smaller machine than a larger model, and theft of compact equipment is therefore more commonplace.”
Different manufacturers offer various telematics packages with their mini excavators and mini roller; there is no industry standard. Hitachi mini excavators are connected to its remote monitoring system, Global e-Service, and the data can also be accessed via smartphone.
While location and working hours are key bits of information, the report speculates that the next-generation of equipment owners will want to view more detailed data. “Owners want access to more data from manufacturers. One reason for this is the influx of a younger, more tech-savvy generation of customers, who can better understand and analyse data to improve productivity and efficiency.”

The Doogee X95 Pro is the best unlocked GSM phone under $100. It's great as a burner phone, travel phone, and as a disposable device. But there's one big problem: the pandemic's impact on electronic prices makes it hard to find below $100.
Even so, the Doogee X95 Pro offers best-in-class battery life and hardware under $100. At over $100, there are better devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy A11 or Galaxy A10e.
The Best Phone Under $100 for Battery Life?
Phones under $100 revolve around temporary purposes, like travel or as burners. Both types of use need adequate cellular reception and good battery life.
Most users in this niche aren't looking for a gaming phone and couldn't care less about a high-end camera. Given its audience, this review focuses on cellular reliability and battery endurance.

Is the Doogee X95 Pro's Hardware Good?
In the under $100 market, the X95 Pro's compares favorably.
The RAM and storage are unheard of in the under $100 smartphone market. Competing phones include 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. But at the $100-120 price range, the RAM provisioning and storage are average.
The X95 Pro's long battery life lies in its parts: an efficient 12 nm processor, large battery, and low-resolution display. Together, these components allow for at least five hours of screen time. Aside from that, there are no hardware features that stand out as either good or bad. For the most part, this is a solid, reliable, low-cost Android smartphone.
What's the Competition Around $100?
For less than $100, no other unlocked phones can challenge the X95 Pro. But the problem is that the X95 Pro rarely sells anymore for its original launch price of $60. But even so, thanks to the pandemic's impact on prices, few models on Amazon offer equal value. It currently retails most places for $120, though Banggood has it listed for $80.
A few phones that do beat out the X95 Pro include the Samsung Galaxy A10e and the Samsung Galaxy A11. But all told, these are more expensive than the X95 Pro. Below $100, it's a low-cost king.
Wireless
Doogee trimmed off a lot of features that you'd find in more expensive phones.  The X95 Pro includes a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, but it sacrifices Wi-Fi 5 by using dual-band 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless instead.
Its best feature is Voice-Over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) technology.
VoWiFi Makes a Difference

VoWiFi is an essential modern smartphone technology for the prepaid and low-cost market. It's so useful that its presence makes or breaks a low-cost smartphone. Unfortunately, budget manufacturers often don't use it out of sheer laziness.
For those who don't know, VoWiFi phones can make and receive cell calls using a Wi-Fi network. In other words, you don't need a cellular signal to make calls or send texts.
VoWiFi functions without issue on the Doogee X95 Pro. I set it up by performing the following actions:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet
Under Mobile Network, choose your provider
Choose Wi-Fi Calling
Turn Wi-Fi Calling on
After enabling Wi-Fi Calling, you'll receive calls through your Wi-Fi network. That means calls and SMS will work, even without cellular reception.
Poor-Quality Wi-Fi Reception

Image 2 of 2
One of the worst features of the X95 Pro is its network wireless connectivity quality. I found the Wi-Fi failing near the access point. It seems that Wireless-N (Wi-Fi 4) which lacks Beamforming, causes the issue. Poor Wi-Fi quality dampens the utility of VoWiFi, as unstable networks drop calls.
While on the second level of my house, I received around -55 dBi. My other budget phone managed -32 dBi.
Supported Bands and Cellular Modem Reception
Its cellular bands make the X95 Pro compatible with North American and European markets. Within the United States, the X95 Pro works on T-Mobile, AT&T, and GSM prepaid carriers. Unfortunately, in the US, the X95 Pro's only functioning 4G cellular band is B5 (850MHz). In most regions, you'll get spotty 3G data speeds. At best, you might see 4G data speeds on AT&T.
The X95 Pro's 900/1800MHz compatibility is better suited for Europe than the Americas. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't work with the 1900MHz band and so it has diminished US 4G coverage.
Reception on Band 5

The cellular modem antenna gets an average of -75 dBm on band 5 (850MHz). For comparison, a more expensive phone using the same SIM card gets the same reception. In other words, for the money, the cellular reception is as good as more expensive devices. Yet the six bands are only adequate for North and South America. It's the B2 compatibility that makes the phone good for European markets.
As such, the X95 Pro should work as a travel phone through most of the Americas, India, and China. Its best usage is in Europe, Australia, and much of Asia.
Battery Life
With a 4,350mAh-sized battery, at 100% charge, the X95 Pro gets:
Five hours of screen-on time
Two+ days of idle
18-hours of mixed usage
For areas in which cellular coverage is poor, battery life could fall far shorter. It also uses an app-killer called Duraspeed, which auto-kills apps. While it does free up resources, I've found that it only improves system speed when it shuts off malfunctioning apps. Otherwise, Duraspeed turns off the apps you need, sometimes causing data loss.
Screen Quality
Tumblr media
The 6.52-inch LCD screen is large, but runs at only HD resolution. There's nothing horrible about it. The brightness scales well, and the colors are well represented.
Touchscreen Calibration Issue
The X95 Pro's touchscreen needs calibration. The issue isn't bad and the majority of users won't likely notice them unless they're playing mobile games. But again, the X95 Pro isn't designed for gamers.
The touchscreen issue also impacts typing accuracy.
The Camera Is Mediocre
Tumblr media
The camera on the Doogee X95 Pro is mediocre at best. While it takes 13MP resolution pictures, in poorer lighting its photography looks terrible. The camera takes decent pictures in bright light. Low-light conditions are the bane of this phone, thanks to an ISO that leaps up into the stratosphere.

Like all smartphone cameras, photos look good with sufficient lighting. Unfortunately, the low-light photos are poor, even for a budget-class camera.
Android 10 on the Doogee X95 Pro
The Doogee X95 Pro uses Android 10 with a drawer-less launcher. It sports few modifications and runs clean and quick.
Unfortunately, Doogee isn't an official Google partner and their devices lack official certification. In other words, the X95 Pro could suffer from security and privacy issues.
Additionally, Doogee has produced phones with adware. But my scans did not reveal their presence on the X95 Pro.
Does Doogee Install Malware?
I ran five different malware scans and came up negative for malware infections. That doesn't mean the phone is completely clean.
Worst of all, phones with hacked-on Google Play can suffer issues after a while. Sometimes Google blocks their services on unlicensed devices. In which case, you will lose access to the Play Store.
No Firmware Updates Likely
Doogee also doesn't often update its firmware, either for security updates or for bug fixes. So what you see is what you get. While Doogee did push out a single firmware update in May, I wouldn't expect additional software refinements.

Doogee's Android Customization
Like many Chinese phones, the X95 Pro offers a few modifications, including a facial recognition app rather than a fingerprint scanner. There's nothing special about the app, other than that it works exactly how facial recognition apps on Android need to work. Configuring your facial profile allows touch-free login.
Overall, Doogee's Android customizations are good and their implementation of Android 10 is excellent.
Performance
Budget phones under $100 don't offer sparkling performance. Which is why if you can find one for under $100, the X95 Pro is among the most performant of handsets. But above $100, it loses a lot of luster.
For gaming, the X95 Pro runs modern games with occasional stutter and lag. I'm not sure whether the performance issues are because of the cheap flash storage or because of the slower processor. But in any event, don't buy the X95 Pro if you want to use it for gaming. However, it can play casual games without a problem.
Helio A20 MT6761D System-on-a-Chip
Most consumers looking for a low-cost burner don't care about performance. They want reliable screen-on time. As such, the X95 Pro's MediaTek Helio A20 MT6761D processor trades raw performance for battery life. It's similar to the Snapdragon 450 inside the Samsung Galaxy A11, although it's inferior to the heterogeneous processor-based Exynos 7884 in the Galaxy A10e.
The A20 Helio processor wasn't fast when it debuted in 2020. Rather than offering lighting-fast speeds, the Helio A20 provides power efficiency at a low cost. Most important: it includes modern 12-nanometer technology along with the efficient Arm Cortex-A53 architecture. It's as battery-friendly as it gets in the sub-$100 space. There are newer architectures with more advanced tech, but those cost more than $100.
32 GB of Storage and 4 GB of RAM on a Cheap Phone?
The 32 GB of onboard storage, lavish at the $60 price point but a standard size at $120, is unimpressive. The performance of the NAND flash memory isn't horrific, but it's not good either:
Sequential read speed: 273.55 MB/s
Sequential write speed: 53.81 MB/s
Random read speed: 21 MB/s
Random write: 9.45 MB/s
The mediocre read-write speeds mean below average NAND memory quality. You will see similar performance numbers for other cheap phones. Although the speed isn't terrible, it's not great. But keep in mind that most budget phones offer similar read-write performance.
Repairability
The X95 Pro isn't user-serviceable, although it's possible to replace the battery. You only need a spudger, a blow-dryer or heat gun, and (optionally) two suction cups. I should note that we reviewed Doogee's S95 repairable, low-cost, modular phone.
The Cheapest Phone You Should Buy: Doogee X95 Pro
The Doogee X95 Pro is the cheapest smartphone worth buying, provided you can find it for less than $100. But while it crushes its competition below $100 in terms of battery life, its cellular reliability is average in North America and it has terrible Wi-Fi reception.
As such, the phone is good as a temporary burner and travel phone but a poor candidate as a daily-use device. However, if you notice a Black Friday deal come September, this is an easy purchase to make. If you can't wait, we've written on the best budget smartphones.
For those in North America, check whether your cellular provider covers your area with the B5 (850MHz) spectrum before buying it.

Top 10 Most Expensive Drones 2019  The Best Expensive Drone In The World
The Free-fly Synapse flight management system combines calibrated sensors with patented control algorithms, allowing users to effortlessly execute even the most complicated flight patterns. This drone offers impressive image stability with a vibration isolation system, making the Alta one of the best drones available on the market for top-end aerial capturing.
A great method to lengthen your flight time is to lower the load of your quadcopter. You can do that by removing the drone prop guards and digital camera.
The maximum transmission vary of this drone with lengthy flight time is 600 meters, which may be very spectacular. It comes with all the ease-of-use features Altair’s known for, together with heading hold mode and one-contact takeoff and landing. There’s additionally a very top quality 1080p digital camera which you'll be able to control instantly from the distant transmitter. Check out this video from Altair Aerial about the Outlaw SE.
Drones can often hover for longer than they will fly, since you’re not working the motors and therefore not draining the battery life. However, this website can only add a few minutes to the common drone flight time of 10 to half-hour.
Drones may also be wanted to offer video protection of events that occur at evening or to wrap up massive mapping surveys that merely can't be finished inside the window of daylight. However, it makes use of a propriety battery, meaning you'll be able to't purchase and use from any third-get together. If you want spare batteries, DJI's are exceptional, but they'll price you a big amount. However, some batteries have a controller chip that stops you from doing this. Regardless, it would help if you stopped flying your drone when the battery life dips to 20% or so.
Tumblr media
If you are constructing a drone, go with the lightest body attainable. Quaternium is not the only company thinking about longer flight times, and there are other accounts of drones flying for lengthy durations of time, from over an hour to over four.
Nobody likes brief battery occasions with their drones, and that’s a truth. Technological advancements have given us drone flight instances that may last up to half-hour on a single charge. The want for the longest flight time is particularly seen in those that are thinking about aerial images, for example. The MJX Bugs 2w has the flight time of up to 18 minutes which is among the better budget drones with an honest flight time.
Overall, 20 minutes is the most common drone flight time. However, ow many minutes a drone can fly depends on the price and kind of drone. The average drone flight time is about 5-10 minutes for a newbie drone, minutes for a mid range drone, and minutes for a prosumer car.
It has a 1800mAh lithium 2s battery with a variety of more than 500 m because of the small size of the drone. This drone is most definitely one of many higher price range drones with an extended flight time than the typical budget drone and price contemplating if cost is a consideration. The restrictions towards night time flight have confirmed to be some of the problematic for commercial drone pilots in the past years. There are merely means too many profitable alternatives that can be gained by flying drones at evening. As mentioned, there are images and filmmaking opportunities that only come up once the sun goes down.

Smartphone fast charging technology – myths and facts – SlashGear
Smartphones today are marketed with a very important feature that promises lightning fast charging speeds compared to the older generation phones. The battery charging technology that phone makers rely on for delivering quick charge to the devices is based on Programmable Power Supply (PPS) and USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) 3.0 standards. These technologies deliver power at the right amount of voltage and current to minimize battery degradation issues.
There are three stages at which the fast charging occurs. First, there is the Constant Current stage where the constant power is delivered to the phone, then there is a saturation phase when the voltage reaches peak value and current starts to drop, and thereafter comes the Trickle stage wherein the power seeps in slowly or periodically.
Smartphone makers like Samsung, OnePlus, OPPO, and Apple have set the current fast charging standard at 30W with some of the Android phone makers even offering 55W or 65W chargers. This means modern phones fitted with lithium-ion batteries can go from zero to maximum charge that’ll last for the whole day in under half an hour. That said, phone makers are already working on fast charging battery technology that promises 100W fast charging and even 120W is not that far. The only problem that needs to be addressed is the handling of charging voltages that permits such insane charging tech.
Convenience that fast charger brings to the busy lifestyle is what all major OEMs are chasing after. Battery charging technology is the one thing in your phone with major advantages in daily life as opposed to other tech like better phone display or innovative camera. Moreover, the power-hungry phones these days demand quick charge capabilities, especially if you are a power user who is hooked on to the phone all day long.
Fast battery charging myths
So the vital question arises – can fast charging damage the battery over time and maybe even cause considerable damage to other components? The answer is, not really. A fast charger can be damaging to the phone’s battery only if there is some technical fault on the hardware front or badly managed software control for battery charging.
Another myth that is doing rounds with fast charging technology is about leaving the phone on charging overnight – keeping the charger plugged-in will damage the battery. This is not true as phones nowadays come with dedicated chips to manage the trickle charge and also to cut-off current supply to the device.
Should you drain the battery to zero and then charge it full capacity every once in a while? It was factual in case of nickel-cadmium batteries but not with lithium-ion batteries. This is something that you should avoid at all costs. In particular with fast charging phones as dropping the phone battery to complete dead, induces chemical reactions that are not appropriate for battery health. Then charging it from there will heat up the phone since the battery within will absorb more charge.
Since most of the phone lithium-ion batteries have 400 to 500 charge cycles, each charge cycle counts. Most people believe that charging the phone once – even from say 30 percent to 80 percent is equivalent to a single battery charge cycle. That’s not true, as this will only be 50 percent of a charge cycle and when you charge that way, once again the next day, one full charge cycle will be completed. This creates a false myth that phones need to go down to almost zero before charging and then charged up to 100 percent to extract maximum battery life.
The sweet spot
According to industry experts, a battery when charged with a fast charger is most stressed after the 80 percent charge level. This is the time when high voltage current is not absorbed by the battery as efficiently as it does when charging from zero to 50 percent. Lithium-ion batteries are like a sponge – they absorb the charge efficiently during the initial phase and begin to drop-off after 70-80 percent charge level.
This unabsorbed charge is a problem as it can lead to short circuits and battery degradation over time. For this reason, manufacturers equip fast chargers with a voltage control mechanism which lowers the voltage as the charge levels reach 80 percent.
So, as a rule of thumb, it is best to charge a fast charging smartphone when it reaches down to 20-30 percent and unplug it at around 80-90 percent battery charge level. This is the sweet spot if you want to extend the battery life of your phone. Letting your phone drain to almost zero is not advised and on the other end of the spectrum, charging it to 100 percent also won’t do any good in the long run.
Temperature is the real killer
It is a proven fact over the years that lithium-ion batteries don’t like temperature variations. Whether it be due to the environment, user induced or the phone’s operating temperatures. The sweet spot of battery charging is important since at the initial battery charging phase from zero to 50 percent maximum heat is dissipated. So if you mindfully charge the phone before it hits 10-20 percent level, the overall battery charging temperature will be within acceptable limits.
Also, it needs to be kept in mind that charging the phone in direct sunlight, near a heat source or in closed spaces with no airflow like under a pillow or with battery banks in your pocket, can increase the heat levels. On the other hand, cold temperatures can also affect battery health, so you should keep your phone away from extreme cold environments. Cold conditions lead to battery power dissipation at a faster rate which also hampers the user experience.
Extend battery life with fast charging
To extend the battery life of your smartphone with fast charging there are some things that’ll go a long way in solving your battery-related woes. While charging the phone you should not use it constantly as the display consumes maximum battery and this will increase the temperature as the battery undergoes stress.
Putting the phone in Airplane mode is another ritual you can employ while charging the phone. This way your device will not use hardware resources to search for networks constantly which can drain the battery. It will also prevent you instinctively from checking any new notifications which are not urgent to address.
Another nifty trick is to charge your phone without the phone case. The more heat that is dissipated inside the battery, the more chances there are of damage in the long run – not only to the battery but to other vital hardware as well. Taking the case off will direct the heat outside the phone.

Batteries not included: USB Power Delivery is the fastest way to charge iPhone and Android devices
Tumblr media
Anker 28600 With USB PD
ZDNet
With the current generation of smartphones with their much faster processors and vivid, high-resolution displays and always-on connectivity, demands on battery performance are now higher than ever before.
You may have noticed that while you are on the road, you’re running out of juice quickly. If you have this problem, portable batteries, and faster wall chargers are your solutions.
Also: Here’s how much it costs to charge a smartphone for a year
But not all portable batteries are the same, even though they might use similar Lithium Polymer (LiPo) and Lithium-Ion (Lion) cells for capacity and look very much alike.
Modern smartphone hardware from Apple and various Android manufacturers support faster-charging rates than what was previously supported.
But if you use the charger that comes in the box with the current generation iPhone hardware, or if you buy just any portable battery pack on the market, you’re going to be disappointed.
Ideally, you want to match your charger, battery, and even the charging cable to the optimal charging speeds that your device supports.
There are three different high-speed USB charging standards currently on the market. While all of them will work with your device using a standard legacy charge mode, you will ideally want to match up the right technology to optimize the speed in which you can top off your phone, tablet, or even your laptop.
Let’s start by explaining the differences between them.
Legacy USB-A 2.0 and 3.0 charging
If your Android device or accessory still has the USB Micro B connector (the dreaded fragile trapezoid that’s impossible to connect in the dark), you can fast-charge it using an inexpensive USB-A to USB Micro B cable.
If the device and the charger port both support the USB 2.0 standard (pretty much the least common denominator these days for entry-level Android smartphones), you can charge it at 1.5A/5V.
Also: How I learned to stop worrying and love USB Type-C
Some consumer electronics, such as higher-end vape batteries that use the Evolv DNA chipset, can charge at 2A.
A USB 3.0/3.1 charge port on one of these batteries can supply 3.0A/5V if the device supports it.
If you are charging an accessory, such as an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds or another Bluetooth device, and it doesn’t support either of the USB-A fast charging specs, it will slow charge at either 500mA or 900mA which is about the same you can expect from directly connecting it to most PCs.
Mode Voltage Max Current Connector USB PD Variable up to 20V 5A USB-C USB Type-C 3A 5V 3.0A USB-C USB Type-C 1.5A 5V 1.5A USB-C QC 4.0 (USB-PD Compatible) Variable up to 20V 4.6A USB-C QC 3.0 Variable up to 20V 4.6A USB-A/USB-C QC 2.0 5V, 9V, 12V, 20V 2A USB-A USB FC 1.2 5V 1.5A USB-A USB 3.1 5V 900mA USB-A USB 2.0 5V 500mA USB-A
Many of the portable batteries on the market have both USB-C and multiple USB-A ports. Some of them have USB-A ports which can deliver the same voltage, while others feature one fast (2.4A) and one slow (1A).
So you will want to make sure you plug the device into the battery port, which can charge it at the fastest rate if you’re going to top off the device as quickly as possible.
It scales up from smartphones to notebook computers provided they use a USB-C connector and a USB-C power controller on the client and host.
Tumblr media
USB Fast-Charge Standards
Image: Belkin
Batteries and wall chargers that employ USB PD can charge devices up to 100W output using a USB-C connector — however, most output at 30W because that is on the upper range of what most smartphones and tablets can handle. In contrast, laptops require adapters and batteries that can output at a higher wattage.
Apple introduced USB PD charging with iOS devices with the launch of the 2015 iPad Pro 12.9″ and with OS X laptops in the MacBook Pro as of 2016. Apple’s smartphones beginning with the iPhone 8 can rapidly charge with USB PD using any USB PD charging accessory — you don’t have to use Apple’s OEM USB-C 29W or its 61W power adapters.
In 2019, Apple released an 18W USB-C Power Adapter which comes with the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Although Apple’s charger works just fine, you’ll probably want to consider a third-party wall charger for the regular iPhone 11 or an earlier model.
Fast-charging an iPhone requires the use of a USB-C to Lightning cable, which until 2019, needed Apple’s OEM MKQ42AM/A (1m ) or MD818ZM/A (2m) USB-C to Lightning cables which unfortunately are a tad expensive at around $19-$35 from various online retailers such as Amazon.
Tumblr media
Apple OEM USB-C to Lightning Cable.
There are cheaper 3rd-party USB-C to Lightning cables. I am currently partial to USB-C to Lightning cables from Anker, which are highly durable and are MFI-certified for use with Apple’s devices.
It should be noted that if you intend to use your smartphone with either Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto, your vehicle will probably still require a USB-A to USB-C or a USB-A to Lightning cable if it doesn’t support these screen projection technologies wirelessly. You can’t fast-charge with either of these types of cables in most cars, and there is no way to pass-through a fast charge to a 12V USB PD accessory while being connected to a data cable, either.
Qualcomm Quick Charge
Qualcomm, whose Snapdragon SoCs are used in many popular smartphones and tablets, has its fast-charging standard, Quick Charge, which has been through multiple iterations.
Quick Charge 4.0 is only present in phones which use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8xx, which is present in many North American tier 1 OEM Android devices made by Samsung, LG, Motorola, OnePlus, ZTE, and Google.
Tumblr media
RavPower 26000mAh with Quick Charge 3.0
ZDNet
The Xiaomi, ZTE Nubia and the Sony Xperia devices also use QC 4.0, but they aren’t sold in the US market currently. Huawei’s phones utilize their own Kirin 970/980/990 chips, which use their own Supercharge standard, but they are backward compatible with the 18W USB PD standard.
Like USB PD, QC 3.0 and QC 4.0 are variable voltage technologies and will intelligently ramp up your device for optimal charging speeds and safety. However, Quick Charge 3.0 and 4.0 differ from USB PD in that it has some additional features for thermal management and voltage stepping with the Snapdragon 820/821/835/845/855 to optimize for reduced heat footprint while charging.
It also uses a different variable voltage selection and negotiation protocol than USB PD, which Qualcomm advertises as better/safer for its own SoCs.
And for devices that use Qualcomm’s current chipsets, Quick Charge 4.0 is about 25% faster than Quick Charge 3.0. The company advertises five hours of usage time on the device for five minutes of charge time.
However, while it is present in (some of ) the wall chargers that ship with the devices themselves, and a few 3rd-party solutions, Quick Charge 4 is not in any battery products yet. The reason for this is that it is not just competing with USB Power Delivery, it is also compatible with USB Power Delivery.
Qualcomm’s technology and ICs have to be licensed at considerable additional expense to the OEMs, whereas USB PD is an open standard.
If you compound this with the fact that Google itself is recommending OEMs conform to USB PD over Quick Charge for Android-based products, it sounds like USB PD is the way to go, right?
Well, sort of. If you have a Quick Charge 3.0 device, definitely get a Quick Charge 3.0 battery. But if you have a Quick Charge 4.0 device or an iOS device, get at USB PD battery for now.
Which Battery?
Now that you understand the fundamental charging technologies, which battery should you buy? When the first version of this article was released in 2018, the product selection on the market was much more limited — there are now dozens of vendors currently manufacturing USB PD products. Still, ZDNet recommends the following brands and models:
Anker (One of the largest Chinese manufacturers of Apple-certified accessories)
RavPower (Similar to Anker, typically more price competitive)
ZMI (Accessories ODM for Xiaomi, one of China’s largest smartphone manufacturers)
Aukey (Large Chinese accessories manufacturer, value pricing)
Mophie (Premium construction, Apple Store OEM accessory)
Zendure (High-end, ruggedized construction, high output ports)
Goalzero (Similar to Zendure)
OmniCharge (High-end, enterprise, vertical-industry targeted, advanced metering and power flow control)
Which wall/desktop charger?
As with the batteries, there are many vendors providing USB PD wall charging accessories. Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, in particular, is something you should stronger consider in a wall charger if you are looking for maximum space efficiency in your travel bag and for power output. ZDNet recommends the following brands and products.
Anker
Aukey
RavPower
Zendure
