Red Thirst: Headcanons

So for those who don't know, I do headcanon Sanguinius himself of being terribly afflicted by the Red Thirst! Under the cut are some full headcanons regarding this!

Sanguinius had the Red Thirst Pre-Heresy, and had to consistently drink blood, something he hid quite ferociously from all but some select Sanguinary Guard. Its possible that other Primarchs knew, but if they did, no one spoke openly of it.

Post Rebirth Sanguinius still needs to drink blood, somewhat more frequently. He hides it from everyone, lest the overzealous think it appropriate to offer themselves. (The guilt would eat him alive)

Sanguinius has two sets of fangs, the main visible set being the more vampire-like set, fangs meant to pierce. The second set is fully retractable and serves the purpose of adding grip to a bite victim, preventing escape. The first pair are semi-retractable and look like normal canines when he isn't using them to bite.

Sanguinius can drink from mortals, primarchs, and astartes with no issues, though he prefers to simply drink from goblets. Less risk of being caught provided none drink from his cup.

He can also drink animal blood, but it doesn't work as well as the other three.

His bites DO hurt, but he tries to make them painless if he can, usually through psychic distortion of the pain sensation.

Sanguinius without blood can go full feral, it is advised not to let him reach this point, as the results are nothing short of carnage until he calms down.
