This fell from the Shivling Mountain and started flowing in the river, but river no one else was Maa Narmada herself because the mother Narmada had emerged from Amarkantakaparvat.

Shivling was brought by Banasura. Hence, they were also named Banling (बंलिंग), and due to their flow in the Narmada, they are called Narmadeshwar shivling for home.
