FEBRUARY 2019 BC ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW

Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of February 28 KST:

A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly limit).

A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on the monthly schedule.

Threads and solos do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.

These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.

Overall Company

The news has been kept from the public to avoid drawing attention to the fact they aren’t married yet, but Kim Byungchul and Ma Seri are now parents, leading to a small shift within the upper levels of the company as the CEO takes time for his newborn daughter. At Ma Seri’s insistence, the happy couple is throwing an after-baby shower, which all BC idols are invited to and required to make an appearance at unless otherwise occupied by a major schedule, in order to show a strong business relationship with the CEO. The other attendees with be the couple’s family, friends, and other industry acquaintances. The atmosphere will be casual, but idols should keep the circumstances in mind and be on good behavior.

February 4-6: Break from schedules for Seollal.

February 16: “After-baby shower” for CEO Kim Byungchul and his fiance, Ma Seri

BC Soloist 2

BC would like to send him back on a small promo circuit at the end of this month to get his name back out there before the release of his single next month. The focus will be on radio shows to keep his artist image, and he’s encouraged to tease the single, talk about his creative process, and possibly do a few covers.

Decipher

Decipher will be shooting episodes one through six of their variety show this month, but outside of that, their schedule is very light other than a guest filming for Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook, which they’ve been invited on to show their (mostly) live vocals and do some additional promotions despite ending official promotions last month. BC is currently undergoing final business arrangements for a summer tour.

BEE

"Something” was an even bigger success than BC had planned, with the dance earning attention and several covers by other idols already. Promotions seem to be wrapping almost unfortunately early considering the success, but that doesn’t mean BEE gets to relax. This month, they’re performing in a special show for the military, shooting a pictorial for High Cut’s March issue, and shooting an episode of Knowing Bros they’ve been invited to thanks to their success.

Important dates:

February 3: Filming for Knowing Bros episode (airing on February 9).

February 11: End of “Something” promotions.

February 12: Photo shoot for High Cut magazine pictorial.

February 18: Performance in special show for the army alongside Lipstick, 7ROPHY, Lucid, Silhouette, and Fuse (performing: “Something”, “Touch My Body”, “Give It To Me”, and “Loving U”.)

Knight

They’re coming back at the end of the month, and comeback preparations are wrapping up accordingly. With the new album tracks finished recording, they’ll record the music video over two days shortly after the Seollal break. Cameras for the reality show they’re filming will be present at the MV shooting, and they’ll also be recording a (belated) group Seollal celebration right after their brief break where they’ll eat traditional new year’s foods together and play a supersized version of yutnori in three teams in the dorm. They’ll take casual pictures in stylist-picked Hanbok the same day as special fan content for the episode.

Lipstick

Gun is doing well but not as well as Bingle Bangle did. It’s not worrying to fans, but it is to investors. Lipstick is still a hot group for brands though, especially now that the Goeun drama has fallen more out of the public consciousness as the legal battle is fought behind the scenes. They’ve been picked to do a CF for Chicken Mania, so they’ve hopefully been brushing up on their aegyo. They’re also booked to perform at a special show for the military alongside some other girl groups.

CHARM

A comeback date set for next month and the pressure is on CHARM the most it has been for a while due to BC’s shifting attention and some investors pushing for them to become their flagship boy group over Knight. The final track list will be cut down by the beginning of the month, and then the rest of the month is jam-packed with recording sessions. They also continue their duties as ambassadors for The SAEM with a fansign in the Philippines near the end of the month.

WISH

BC is keeping WISH’s group schedules mostly behind the scenes this month to avoid exacerbating continued concern from their fanbase about never-ending schedules. Many people saw through the VLive series “vacation”, so they’ve been awarded a special extension of their Seollal holiday to a full week if they don’t have any individual schedule commitments. It could very well be the biggest break they’ll be getting, so they should make the most of it. Once they’re back from break, they’re back to work behind the scenes on their second Japanese “best” album to be released next month, their next Korean comeback, and tour prep.

JULY 2020 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW

Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of August 7 KST:

A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).

A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.

OVERALL COMPANY

All Gold Star idols are scheduled for a meeting with upper management the day before the news of the upcoming base Culture Complex is leaked to the media. They’re given a more detailed rundown of plans for the facility than the public is, although not all the details are made clear. In the meeting, everyone is informed Gold Star has partnered once again with BC and Dimensions to fund the construction of a new building in Gangnam meant to become the ideal location in the world for fans of idols. The building will include a museum with exhibits dedicated to the history and music of each group and soloist, a handful of theatre venues for intimate concerts and company-sponsored musical productions, a merchandise mall, a cafe, and many other fan experiences. (admin note: For reference, imagine something similar to SM COEX Artium —with over three times the budget.) The idols won’t spend much time there even once it’s finished being built, but content starring them is critical to the financial success of the venture, so the next several months leading up to its opening will have all three companies’ idols working hard to make its opening a success. This month, that mostly involves producing photo shoots: all idols will attend a photo shoot session this month where three categories of photo will be tacked: profile pictures for the artist wall (grayscale, professional and serious tone), images for life-sized cutouts of each idol (wardrobe will consist of jeans and a single-color top for each idol, fun and bright tone with fanservicable poses such as here and here encouraged) and 3D imaging for 3D-printed figures of each idol.

Now that “Blueming” promotions are complete, it’s time for her to prepare for her concert tour. The set list includes her latest songs as well as older favorites. This month, the focus is making sure she has the performances of each song down with hours spent in the practice room, with extra time and focus spent on the ones that involve back-up dancers.

Now that her concert tour is done, she’s been granted a vacation from the company. She’s allowed to schedule her vacation as she wishes throughout the month (she may travel abroad if she wishes, with or without a manager), though she will need to be in Seoul a few days out of the month to listen to demos for potential new songs as Gold Star has been throwing around the idea of a holiday release at the end of this year for her.

The release of his English-language album approaches and as the track list has now been finalized, he’ll be expected to spend long hours in the recording studio this month to finish laying down the final vocal tracks on the album before he heads into the final stretch of album preparations next month.

On their tenth anniversary, they receive a rare video by way of their manager’s phone from CEO Bang Sunyoung herself congratulating them on ten years. In it, she gives encouragement for their comeback and thanks them for their dedication to the company for ten years. On the same day, they host a mini outdoor fanmeeting for fans in honor of the occasion. Their new comeback releases on the third and it seems Gold Star’s marketing of a reinvention of Silhouette for their tenth anniversary worked, as the song climbs up the charts to a Gaon number one in its third week

Aria finishes off music show promotions mid-month after a busy schedule of music show promotions. Before that, they make an appearance on School Attack, where they’ll visit a middle school. At the beginning of filming, they’ll split themselves up into pairs of their choosing and be given a mission where they pick three Korean consonants and must find a food with at least two of the consonants in it in order to eat before they leave for the school. If they fail, they have to walk to get to the school instead of riding the bus with the rest of the members. Once they are all at the school, the members must find clues to lead them to start the school attack performance for the students. They’ll also be filming the first two episodes of Queendom on July 16 and July 30 (the latter date also happens to be their debut anniversary), and they’ve been asked to prepare a performance of their representative hit song, “Ah-Choo”. ORIGIN

July is a month of filming for Origin. In total, five music videos will be filmed for their comeback this month, though only three will consist of the full group. Those three videos will be filmed while Origin is on a trip to California from July 21 to July 27 and will include their “Black Swan” music video, to be filmed at The Los Angeles Theatre, their “On” Kinetic Manifesto, to be filmed near the Sepulveda Dam, and the week-long filming of their official “On” music video, to be filmed at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. The members will continue to practice their performances while abroad.

Shortly after they make their comeback, they’ll need to return to the dance studio to record a name tag survival dance practice for fans in addition to their standard dance practice, which will be filmed before their comeback.

Fuse’s creative team and management begin to feel more pressure for Fuse’s comeback to do well after the company sees the success of Silhouette’s comeback, which could threaten Fuse’s place on Gold Star’s priority list, and the pressure management is feeling is evident as their own comeback gets closer.

ELEMENT

To keep fans entertained while Element is away from activities, Gold Star will have them shoot a video for Youtube of them playing a game of Mafia in the first half of the month. For their third anniversary, Gold Star has planned a day of livestreams for Element to interact with their fans. Each member will be asked to do a solo thirty minute to one hour livestream some time when they’re available on July 19 before 6pm KST, at which point, all four members will hold a one to two hour group livestream where they’ll talk to fans and play games and reflect on the last three and a half years since they released their first pre-debut single.

FEMME FATALE

Femme Fatale only have concert dates in one city this month (as they continue to film for their video diaries series), which is a change from all of the traveling they’ve been doing since the beginning of the year. While they’re in Seoul, they’ll lay down the needed vocals for the upcoming release of the Japanese version of their Kill This Love EP, but other than that, they’ll have some downtime this month, though they’re still busy enough they won’t get a true vacation.

NOVEMBER 2019 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW

Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of December 7 KST:

Overall Company

The behind the scenes of the company may have been messy lately, but that won’t stop CEO Bang Sunyoung from continuing her prosperous, multi-faceted career. Earlier in the year, Gold Star artists modeled for a lookbook for a fashion collab between Bang Sunyoung and an up and coming fashion line. The collaboration was a success and is opening a pop-up shop in Gangnam this month, which Gold Star artists are expected to attend the opening of to draw press coverage.

Gold Star Soloist 1

The priority for her schedule is still fan meeting preparations, but at the beginning of the month, it will be confirmed Gold Star has her in their plans for a comeback with a mini-album in the first half of 2020, which is more confirmation than she had before. The songs aren’t fully decided yet, but the themes and concepts are beginning to be cemented through meetings. Meanwhile, in preparation for her fanmeeting, there are two open spots in the event’s performance set list for her to perform covers of her choice on top of the original songs she’s doing. These covers will be confirmed with management by the end of the month, but she has pretty free rein thanks to her seniority as long as her choices aren’t image-damaging. With comeback plans more internally sure than ever before, Gold Star plans to keep a steady stream of short video content to upload onto their Youtube channel before her comeback to create more fanbuzz. This month, that comes in the form of a support video for fans taking college entrance exams. At the end of the month, she’ll shoot the photos for her 2020 Season’s Greetings, themed after the four seasons.

Gold Star Soloist 2

The fifth of the month marks her first comeback in nearly three years after Gold Star had to reconsider their plans for her following her American debut not finding the desired success. They’ve opted for minimal promotion other than music shows, which may spell out trouble when she hasn’t been on the public’s mind in quite a while. The month begins with another festival performance, as has become a common schedule for her over the years. Her comeback comes two days after filming a Tipsy Live video of her best hits, and then music show promotions begin for the month.

During the first week of the month, he will be called into a meeting with management and it will be announced that they’re planning on pushing his Western promotions even further in 2020 and having him release his first ever all-English language album. Official preparation for it is not underway yet, though, as he has to finish off his Europe concert dates at the very end of the month.

Promotions for this comeback have been amped up from the usual senior idol promotions, with a mix of radio guestings, online video content, and television performances. The goal is to make sure the comeback doesn’t go ignored now that there are fewer Gold Star artists coming back before the end of the year than initially planned. The members won’t have too much time off this month, but there don’t seem to be plans for them to attend many awards shows or Gayos, so it’s a trade-off.

They continue to nail down their performances for their comeback next month and will be doing the bulk of their remaining comeback preparations this month, including fittings, photoshoots, and filming for their music video for “Lost N Found”. Awards show season starts for them with the Melon Music Awards at the end of the month, where they’ll be giving a special performance of “I’m So Sick”.

They end their stadium tour this month with encore concerts in Seoul. They’re sure to be touring again next year after their next album drops, but for now, they’ve closed another chapter. Their public schedules are non-existent for the back half of the month as Gold Star pushes the release of the Origin World mobile game and OST, but that doesn’t mean a break. Instead, they’re working hard in the dance studio preparing for all of their awards show and Gayo stages.

November brings a short Latin America tour and the beginning of their Japanese tour, which coincides with the release of their newest Japanese album. Besides their touring and an appearance at the Asia Artist Awards, things are pretty laidback for Impulse this month, though an opportunity has come for the leader and the maknae of the group, who will be recording an OST for the upcoming drama He Is Psychometric, something that may even be a signs of plans to come, not that the members know it yet.

Fuse

Teaser photo shooting and MV filming wrap up pre-comeback preparations and then Fuse will make their comeback mid-month. Management is embracing the mismatched concept to the season and Fuse will be hosting a “beach party” pre-release live stream the day before their album comes out, but the theme only runs as far as a beach-like indoor set for the VLive, where they’ll tease their album and discuss the comeback before it happens. Unfortunately, a plagiarism accusation regarding outfits worn in teasers and the MV hits the comeback as soon as it drops, throwing wrench into things. By the end of the month, the issue still isn’t resolved and leaves some non-fans hesitant to support the song until Gold Star releases a statement. Luckily, it’s an issue that reflects worse on the company and stylist than the members, and there are no issues going forward with a recording for an OST for the upcoming drama Hotel Del Luna.

Element is back on the touring grind for the next few months, beginning with the first date of their short Latin American tour at the end of the month, and when they don’t have new songs to add to the set list, that means new covers. For the month, they’ll be rehearsing new covers of “If I Can’t Have You”, “Thank U Next”, “Pesadão”, and “Taki Taki” that will be included in the concert, most of which will carry over into being performed at their North America tour stops in the new year, too.

Femme Fatale

Their first Seoul concerts happen in the third week of the month (please see October’s schedule for their assigned solo stages) and the day after they’ve finished those, they’ll be called into a meeting to announce the news that Gold Star has finalized their deal for Femme Fatale to be co-represented by a large American record label for promotions outside of Asia, though it’s a different label than Gold Star already struck a distribution deal with for Origin. This promises more push outside of Asia with their next release, which Gold Star has confirmed to be planning, but hasn’t been locked down yet. After that news, the members have a Japanese album photo shoot and a brand event before they kick into full gear in the coming months.

Overall company

Out of the three companies, Gold Star Media is the one giving the most artists the most time off this December. They consider this year one where they put out more quality than quantity and as a result are doing well financially, with interest from investors only increasing as 2017 ends. Some artists have busier schedules than others, but overall executives don’t have any complaints for any specific artists and are focused on finalizing their plans for 2018. Gold Star Media continues to work and plan future endeavors with BC Entertainment and Dimensions Entertainment. 

The new girl group is planned to debut this month just before the end of the year and are hard at work preparing.
