Iecusoft & Microsoft
Iecusoft is pleased to announce its adoption of Microsoft 365 in all of its offices. We @ Iecusoft was working hard to implement seamless solutions in our business practice and believe Microsoft 365 will add to our efficiency and effectiveness over all.
Microsoft Corporation (/ˈmaɪkrəˌsɒft/,[6][7] abbreviated as MS) is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and services. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers. Its flagship hardware products are the Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft Surface tablet lineup. As of 2016, it is the world's largest software maker by revenue,[8] and one of the world's most valuable companies.[9] The word "Microsoft" is a portmanteau of "microcomputer" and "software".[10]
Microsoft was founded by Paul Allen and Bill Gates on April 4, 1975, to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. It rose to dominate the personal computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by Microsoft Windows. The company's 1986 initial public offering (IPO), and subsequent rise in its share price, created three billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires among Microsoft employees. Since the 1990s, it has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made a number of corporate acquisitions—their largest being the acquisition of LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in December 2016,[11] followed by Skype Technologies for $8.5 billion in May 2011.[12]
As of 2015, Microsoft is market-dominant in the IBM PC-compatible operating system market and the office software suitemarket, although it has lost the majority of the overall operating system market to Android.[13] The company also produces a wide range of other consumer and enterprise software for desktops and servers, including Internet search (with Bing), the digital services market (through MSN), mixed reality (HoloLens), cloud computing (Azure) and software development (Visual Studio).
Steve Ballmer replaced Gates as CEO in 2000, and later envisioned a "devices and services" strategy.[14] This began with the acquisition of Danger Inc. in 2008,[15] entering the personal computer production market for the first time in June 2012 with the launch of the Microsoft Surface line of tablet computers; and later forming Microsoft Mobile through the acquisition of Nokia's devices and services division. Since Satya Nadella took over as CEO in 2014, the company has scaled back on hardware and has instead focused on cloud computing, a move that helped the company's shares reach its highest value since December 1999.[16][17]

There are many ways to define Microsoft Corporation! For the basic user, Microsoft is the company behind Windows Operating System and several other software! For developers, Microsoft brings a platform that lets them create a big variety of tools and utilities, ranging from the basic text editors to high-end video editing suites. For the gadget freak guys out there, Microsoft is the reason why they have Surface tablets and Lumia Smartphones. We cannot complain if someone calls Microsoft “a centralized provider of digital life.” From Smartphones to PCs and from documents to serious gaming, you can have the wider range of products from Microsoft Corporation. Despite all these, there are some interesting facts about Microsoft when we consider it as a technology company! If you are a Microsoft fan or someone seeking a job at the firm, you will be interested in knowing more Microsoft facts! In this article, we have listed the top 15 fun facts about Microsoft. Shall we start? Microsoft Has Code-Names for Projects You might be familiar with the Android codenames, such as Gingerbread and Marshmallow! However, even before it happened, Microsoft is accustomed to the habit of giving code-names for its projects, which it continues. Though the list goes back to some unknown projects, we can start from Windows XP, which was code-named as Whistler. It was named after Whistler, British Columbia — a place known for design retreats. There is the name Blackcomb for Windows 7 and Threshold for Windows 8.1. The latest code-name we can draw in the common products sector is Spartan – a name given to Microsoft Edge browser. The latest update to Windows 10 is called Redstone. Microsoft was a Result of Dropping Out So, in case if you were planning to drop out of college and move on with your start-up, you have a better inspiration. As it has become quite popular, Bill Gates had to drop out of Harvard University to get started with Micro-Soft. It was Micro-Soft, when Started As of now, we have become familiar the name ‘Microsoft’ without hyphen! However, during the starting times of the company, the name was ‘Micro-Soft’. The name was the portmanteau of Microcomputer and Software. In the course of time, the hyphen was exempted from the name, thus giving a three-syllable, single-word brand name. For those who thought it was ‘Microsoft’ from the beginning, this would be an interesting fact about Microsoft. An Unbelievable Number of Patents It’s quite guessable from the nature of the company, which brings to the forefront an impressive number of newer technologies and products. Even then, in case if you did not know, Microsoft has more than 10000 patents and has a position among the top five patent holders in the United States of America. Quite naturally, the number is becoming big as each day passes. The list includes patents taken for software products, devices and other several services. As it can be understood, there are more products in the backstage of Microsoft Corporation and the huge number is very natural. Microsoft was a Result of Friendship Like any other successful company out there, Microsoft also had a strong bond of friendship to back it! As you know, the company was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who were childhood friends. As if that wasn’t enough, Gates married Melinda French, who happened to be an employee of Microsoft. The bond of friendship and relations was not over after the inception. Steve Balmer, one of the noted CEOs of Microsoft, was a college mate of Bill Gates. Microsoft Pays High In case if you did not know, a Microsoft employee is called ‘Softie’ — perhaps the best name for one is working in a big company like this. There is a huge number of softies working in Microsoft an average employee receives a salary of $108000, which is really huge. We are talking about the average ones in the development sector, and the amount would become high as we move on to other sectors. Microsoft Started with Xenix If you were thinking Windows or MS-DOS was the first product of Microsoft, you are wrong! Xenix was the first OS that was developed and distributed by Microsoft Corporation. This was actually a re-branded version of UNIX. The OS did not give a great time for Microsoft, but it was really worth the start. An Awesome Art Collection Ranging from sculptures, paintings and others, Microsoft Corporation owns an impressive number of artworks. It’s a practice based on the theory that placing such artworks in the workspace can be quite effective in reducing the stress of employees and in enhancing their productivity. The artwork collection is a regularly updated one and it has its place in the Microsoft campuses. This becomes an interesting fact because Microsoft should have rather kept a collection of notable computer hardware — if it were a normal firm. Listen Employees, Free Drinks Microsoft, like many other multi-national tech firms, is noted for providing a superb working environment for those employees, in different campuses around the globe. So, when you are becoming a Microsoft employee, you don’t have to spend an extra dollar when you’re feeling thirsty. There will be a collection of a variety of drinks in the campus and employees are free to choose what they want. As per what the stats say, most Microsoft employees go for Milk and Orange Juice. Along with the drinks, employees get free candies — what a way to treat employees, Microsoft! The Games of Legalities Microsoft is noted for making legal issues and seeing other individuals and companies! Not only that, it was bright to get rid of the lawsuits it had faced from Apple Inc regarding the copying of GUI and Tiled windows. So, even now, the company is quite active when it comes to legal suites and their execution, thus ensuring its position as an all-rounder tech-giant. Quite notably, legal battles of Microsoft often deal with assuring monopoly in the industry — that is, the elimination of competitors. The M&M way of Celebrating Anniversaries There are different ways to celebrate your work anniversary. However, in Microsoft workplaces, an employee has to bring a pound of M&M — those button-shaped candies that are manufactured by Mars — depending on the number of years the employee has been working for. That is, if you have been working in Microsoft for five years, you need to bring five pounds of M&M. That’s an interesting in-house tradition, isn’t that? The Story of MS-DOS In case if you did not know, Microsoft had purchased another company before the tech-giant came up with MS-DOS, which is the acronym for Microsoft Disk Operating System. On the 27th of July 1981, QDOS — Quick and Dirty Operating System — was acquired by Microsoft and the firm was given a value of $25000. Several changes were made to the OS and were brought into a fully fledged Operating System — namely MS-DOS. It was launched along with IBMP PC/XT and the IBM-made device was running on this then brand-new OS from Microsoft Corporation. People at Microsoft Love Pizza We already told you that Microsoft is known for providing free drinks to its employees. However, this free aspect can never be seen in the case of food. That having said, cafeterias are there everywhere in Microsoft campuses and they are supposed to feed a huge number of employees every day. According to the statistics, the favorite food of the Microsoft employees is Pizza. These cafeterias are fully fledged and have enough capacity to take care of employees in one campus. And, last but not the least; Microsoft does not compromise when it comes to quality and availability of good food in the workspace. Behold, Interviews So, suppose you want to get a job in Microsoft. Even when you have passed the qualifications and exams, there is a bigger thing to finish off — the interviews. The fun fact about Microsoft interviews is that you can expect any kind of question from the firm. It might be about the common thing like a manhole or something else. So, even if you are up for a code-rich job such as developer, you may not find many questions about your domain of knowledge. Instead of that, those on the interview board would test the logic, sense and the other basics of the want-to-be employee. The rumor mills have it that this unexpected-questions trend was first set by Microsoft and then brought into the pop-culture by Google and others. Microsoft has Acquired 190+ Companies The acquisition is a common thing when it comes to the business culture of Microsoft. In the course of time, Microsoft has acquired more than 190 companies, from different categories and sectors. Hotmail and Skype are the notable things that Microsoft acquired in the given time-period and both were beneficial — needless to say. According to Wikipedia records, the latest acquisition was done on 24th February of 2016 and the turn was of Xamarin, which is a start-up for mobile application development. Interesting Facts About Microsoft – Conclusion Well, now we have covered top 15 interesting facts about Microsoft Corporation! As the company proceeds to stay as the tech giant, we will have more and more fun facts to talk about — which surely we will. source http://wtf.telenor.com.np/2019/11/25/interesting-facts-about-microsoft/

What Are The Different Kinds Of Computers?
We use computers for different reasons and different tasks. But either we’re at the office or not, computers remain the same in terms of function. They write documents, save media files, send emails, let you search the web, tabulate data, update your social media, and all the computing processes there is. But these computers are the ones that we commonly know of. There are other types that seem unfamiliar with most people. Even these computers we use in the office or at home can differ from each other base on how heavy we use them. For example, if you are active on social media, you can always use a computer to update or upload files. But if you use it for business or as a job, then you will need a computer that’s best suited for more creative tasks.
Now let’s check out the other types of computers.
Supercomputers. You might have probably heard of this one. These are the fastest and biggest computers that exist. They are used to calculate weather patterns, quantum physics, and even perform mock nuclear weapon detonation.
The "Father of Supercomputing," Seymour Cray, built the first supercomputer in 1963 called the CDC 6600, according to Cray Inc. He founded the company Cray Research to focus on engineering supercomputer systems. Supercomputers provide the fastest processing speed of any computer. Used for highly complex calculations, supercomputers possess extreme processing capabilities. For example, the Jaguar, a Cray Inc. supercomputer, operates at 1750 Teraflops (floating point operations per second) at peak performance—which means the system can calculate 1,750,000 Gigabytes per second. Supercomputers work behind the scenes to drive the most advanced information research forward. They are used for various highly specified applications including weather research, quantum physics, nuclear weapon detonation simulations and a class of problems called the "Grand Challenge problems," a set of problems requiring a high-performance computer.
(Via:https://www.techwalla.com/articles/types-of-computers-their-functions)
Mid-range computers are called so after the rise of desktop computers. They were used to do various applications.
The mid-range computer, originally called the minicomputer and currently called a server, is between a microcomputer and mainframe computer (as related to size and power). The term "minicomputer" developed during the 1960s to describe computers that utilized transistor technology. During the 1970s and 1980s, the development of microcomputers—or desktops—placed minicomputers in the mid-range designation. They were considered a more powerful single-user machine. True minicomputers began to decline, however, due to a less-expensive minicomputer that used microprocessor technology. Mid-range computers provide processing services for several applications. They are used to run back-end applications such as enterprise email, database systems and network-wide antivirus software.
(Via:https://www.techwalla.com/articles/types-of-computers-their-functions)
Personal computers are the computers we know, use, and love today. They are also known as microcomputers because their processors are micro. If supercomputers are for the most complex computing, microcomputers are for everyday use. It cannot process humongous data, but it can still process major ones.
Considered the first desktop, the HP 9830, which was released for consumer use in the 1970s, surpassed computers at the time because it featured a hard drive and utilized the BASIC programming language. Microcomputers are the most common consumer device. This computer type includes desktop personal computers and laptops. Microcomputers use a microprocessor to execute instructions and are designed for use by one individual. They are used for office applications, email, Internet access, gaming or education.

20 The World’s Most Famous Brands Very First Products
We’ve all gotta start somewhere! It can be hard to imagine some of the most iconic and ubiquitous brands of today as a struggling start-up, yet every company has its own origin story.
While many people like to romanticize and sometimes exaggerate the ‘bootstrap ideology’ of self-made billionaires building the foundations of business empires in their garages, some companies do have genuinely humble and surprising beginnings, and they are really interesting to see!
This list, compiled by Apegeo, looks at the baby photos of some of the business world’s greatest celebrities. Go back in time to when Amazon was just a book store, and Samsung just a guy with a phone,. Witness these mega-corporations taking their very first steps toward fame!
Scroll down to check them out for yourself below, and let us know what you think in the comments!
#1 Rice Cooker (1946)
var quads_screen_width = document.body.clientWidth; if ( quads_screen_width >= 1140 ) []).push(); if ( quads_screen_width >= 1024 && quads_screen_width < 1140 ) /* tablet landscape */ document.write('<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="pub-7813024252608044" data-ad-slot="9641215446" data-ad-format="auto">'); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle if ( quads_screen_width >= 768 && quads_screen_width < 1024 ) if ( quads_screen_width < 768 )
Founders – Masaru Ibuka, Akio Morita
First location – Tokyo, Japan
After World War II, Sony founder Masaru Ibuka invented a product to try and serve the millions of homes who had electricity but lacked the appliances to use it. The result was this electric rice cooker.
Released under the business name Tokyo Telecommunications Research Institute, before Sony itself became an incorporated company, the rice cooker was little more than some aluminium electrodes on the bottom of a wooden bucket. Depending on the unregulated electric current at the time, the kind of rice or how much water was used, the rice generally ended up served as overcooked mush or undercooked grain.
Because of this, the product was never actually released onto the market. Instead, a prototype now sits ensconced in glass at the Sony Archives in Shinagawa, a relic from a distant age before electronic gadgets were the norm. Source: Gizmodo sony
#2 Online Bookstore (1994)
Founders – Jeff Bezos
First location – Bellevue, WA
Amazon began as an online bookstore in way back in 1994. Founder Jeff Bezos decided at first to call the bookstore “Cadabra,” He later changed the name to Amazon.com, Inc. a few months later, after a lawyer misheard its original name as “cadaver.”
Bezos selected the name Amazon by looking through the dictionary; he settled on “Amazon” because it was a place that was “exotic and different”, just as he had envisioned for his Internet enterprise. The Amazon River, he noted, was the biggest river in the world, and he planned to make his store the biggest bookstore in the world. Additionally, a name that began with “A” was preferred because it would probably be at the top of an alphabetized list. #3 Stationary Delivery (1943)
Founders – Ingvar Kamprad
First location – Älmhult, Sweden
IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad showed entrepreneurial promise from a young age. At age 5, he began buying matches in bulk from Stockholm and selling them to neighbors for a profit. He later moved on to selling flower seeds, greeting cards, Christmas tree decorations, and more.
In 1943, when he was 17, Kamprad founded IKEA from his uncle’s kitchen table. It began as a mail-order business, selling a variety of items like stockings, jewelry, watches, pens, and picture frames. Kamprad added the first piece of furniture to the company’s offerings a few years later. Furniture sales got even bigger with the introduction of the famous IKEA catalog in 1951 and the first showroom in 1953. IKEA’s furniture soon became the focal point of the company as it began phasing out all other products over the next few years. Source: Ikea
#4 Card Game (1889)
Founders – Fusajiro Yamauchi
First location – Kyoto, Japan
Nintendo, the video game brand that launched such 1980s and ’90s-era franchises as Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon, is actually one of the older companies on this list. It was founded in 1889 as a playing card company based in Kyoto, Japan. The cards (named hanafuda, or “flower cards” for their ornate floral imagery) were popular among the organized crime gangs that inhabited Japan’s gambling halls. The company’s origins are even reflected in its name: When separated into three characters, “Nin-ten-do” roughly translates to “Leave luck to heaven,” or “Work hard, but in the end it is in heaven’s hands.” Source: wikipedia
#5 Wooden Toys (1923)
Founders – Ole Kirk Christiansen
First location – Billund, Denmark
The toy brand that’s best known for its plastic, interlocking bricks was founded by a carpenter.
Struggling to find enough wood to build furniture during Denmark’s recession of the 1930s, Ole Kirk Kristiansen began turning wood scraps into children’s toys. Some of LEGO’s first products included toy trains, automobiles, and a wooden duck on wheels that quacked when pulled.
When he started experimenting with plastic toys in 1947, most department stores weren’t interested. Fortunately for future generations of LEGO builders, that didn’t discourage him, and plastic bricks eventually became the focus of the company. Source: Lego
#6 Computer Apple I (1976)
Founders – S.Jobs, S.Wozniak, R.Wayne
First location – Cupertino, CA
Steve Wozniak originally assembled the microcomputer Apple I in 1975 for a Homebrew Computer Club meeting in Silicon Valley. Wozniak said, that the basic machine was “the first time in history anyone had typed a character on a keyboard and seen it show up on their own computer’s screen right in front of them.”
Another club member, Steve Jobs, helped to sell 50 orders of the machine for $500 each to a local computer store. The success of the sales made the pair over $50,000 for and encouraged them to get to work on the Apple II.
The rest is history.

#7 Search Engine (1998)
Founders – Larry Page, Sergey Brin
First location – Menlo Park, CA
Google has its origins in “BackRub”, a research project that was begun in 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were both PhD students at Stanford University in Stanford, California. The project initially also involved an unofficial “third founder”, Scott Hassan, the lead programmer who wrote much of the code for the original Google Search engine, but left before Google was officially founded as a company.
Page’s ‘web crawler’ began exploring the web in March 1996, with Page’s own Stanford home page serving as the only starting point.
The first version of Google was released in August 1996 on the Stanford website. It used nearly half of Stanford’s entire network bandwidth. Source: Wikipedia Google
#8 Grocery Trading Store (1938)
Founders – Lee Byung-chul
First location – Seoul, South Korea
Samsung was founded as a grocery trading store on March 1, 1938, by Lee Byung-Chull. He started his business in Taegu, Korea, trading noodles and other goods produced in and around the city and exporting them to China and its provinces.
After the Korean war and during the country’s push to industrialization, the company successfully expanded into textile-manufacturing.
New subsidiaries such as Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Shipbuilding, and Samsung Precision Company soon followed.
Samsung first entered the electronics industry in 1969 with several electronics-focused divisions—their first products were black-and-white televisions. During the 1970s the company began to export home electronics products overseas. Source: Britannica Wikipedia,Wikipedia
#9 Automatic Loom (1926)
Founders – Kiichiro Toyoda
First location – Nagoya, Japan
Toyota was founded in 1926 as Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. by Sakichi Toyoda, the inventor of a series of manual and machine-powered looms. The most impressive of these was the Toyoda Automatic Loom, Type G, a completely automatic high-speed loom featuring the ability to change shuttles without stopping and dozens of other innovations. At the time it was the world’s most advanced loom, delivering a dramatic improvement in quality and a twenty-fold increase in productivity.
In 2007, this machine was registered as item No. 16 in the Mechanical Engineering Heritage of Japan as “a landmark achievement that advanced the global textile industry and laid the foundation for the development of the Toyota Group.” Source: Wikipedia Toyota,Toyota
#10 Memory Chip (1969)
Founders – Gordon Moore, Robert Noyce
First location – Mountain View, CA
Intel was founded in Mountain View, California, in 1968 by Gordon E. Moore (known for “Moore’s law”), a chemist, and Robert Noyce, a physicist and co-inventor of the integrated circuit.
When Intel began they did not make processors, as they are famous for now, they made memory. Specifically SRAM, DRAM, and EPROMs. The very first product Intel released, in April of 1969, was the 3101 64-bit SRAM. It was made on the new, and fast Schottky Bipolar process. This made it very fast (access times of 60ns) but very power hungry. It dissipated 525mW, over half a watt, for 64-bits of memory. #11 Image Computer (1986)
Founders – Edwin Catmull, Alvy Ray Smith, Steve Jobs
First location – Richmond, CA
Pixar was founded as The Graphics Group, which is one third of the Computer Division of Lucasfilm that was launched in 1979 with the hiring of Dr. Ed Catmull from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), where he was in charge of the Computer Graphics Lab (CGL). At NYIT, the researchers pioneered many of the CG foundation techniques—in particular the invention of the “alpha channel.”
Initially, Pixar was a high-end computer hardware company whose core product was the Pixar Image Computer, a system primarily sold to government agencies and the medical community. One of the buyers of Pixar Image Computers was Disney Studios, whose corporate parent would ultimately become its most important partner. Source: Fandom wikipedia,Pixar

PayPal was first established in December 1998 as Confinity, a company that developed security software for handheld devices.Confinity was founded by Max Levchin, Peter Thiel, Luke Nosek, Ken Howery, Yu Pan and Russel Simmons.
PayPal was developed and launched as a money transfer service at Confinity in 1999.
In March 2000, Confinity merged with X.com, an online banking company founded by Elon Musk. Musk was optimistic about the future success of the money transfer business Confinity was developing.
In October of that year, Musk made the decision that X.com would terminate its other Internet banking operations and focus on the PayPal money service. The X.com company was then renamed PayPal in 2001, and expanded rapidly throughout the year until company executives decided to take PayPal public in 2002. Source:Wikipedia Paypal
#13 Microblogging Service (2006)
Founders – Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, Evan Williams
First location – San Francisco, CA
Twitter started in 2006 when the podcasting company Odeo realized they needed to reinvent themselves and began brainstorming new creative ideas. Jack Dorsey introduced the idea of creating an SMS that would allow a user to communicate with a small group of people.
Twitter was first called “status” until the group looked in the dictionary for names and found twitter which fit it perfectly. The original product name was twttr.
The project work began on March 21, 2006, when Dorsey published the first Twitter message: “just setting up my twttr”. The prototype for twitter was tested as an internal service for Odeo employees but later launched publicly in July 2006.
In October 2006, Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone and Evan Williams formed Obvious Corporation with other members from Odeo. They then bought out Odeo from the investors and other shareholders. In April of 2007, Twitter became its own company. Source: Profile Rehab dailymail, biz
#14 Distribution Of Japanese Shoes (1964)
Founders – Bill Bowerman, Phil Knight
First location – Eugene, OR
The origins of Nike can be traced back to a school paper for a small-business class. Phil Knight was enrolled at the Stanford Graduate School of Business when he got the idea for a Japanese shoe company that manufactured quality products at lower costs than the German brands that dominated the market at the time. The theme of his essay titled “Can Japanese Sports Shoes Do to German Sports Shoes What Japanese Cameras Have Done to German Cameras?” inspired him to found a real-life business in 1964. Nike—then Blue Ribbon Sports—began as a distributor for Onitsuka Tiger Running Shoes made in Japan. Knight initially sold the shoes himself from the back of his station wagon at Oregon University track meets. Source: Cnn,Nike
#15 Fast-Food Restaurant (1955)
Founders – Richard McDonald, Maurice McDonald
First location – San Bernardino, CA
In 1937 Patrick McDonald opened “The Airdrome”, a food stand, on Huntington Drive (Route 66) near the Monrovia Airport in the Los Angeles County city of Monrovia, California with hot dogs being one of the first items sold. Hamburgers were later added to the menu at a cost of ten cents with all-you-can-drink orange juice at five cents. In 1940, sons Maurice and Richard moved the entire building to San Bernardino, California. The restaurant was renamed “McDonald’s Bar-B-Que” and had 25 menu items, mostly barbecue.
In 1954, Ray Kroc, a seller of Prince Castle brand Multimixer milkshake machines, learned that the McDonald brothers were using eight of his machines in their San Bernardino restaurant. His curiosity was piqued, and he went to take a look at the restaurant. He was joined by good friend Charles Lewis who had suggested to Kroc several improvements to the McDonald’s burger recipe.
Kroc was so impressed by the brothers’ restaurant that he offered to set up a national franchise, starting with the ‘original’ Mcdonalds (as we know it today) in Des Plaines, Illinois, near Chicago. It began with a simple menu of nine items including burgers, fries, milkshake, juice and milk. Source: Wikipedia Mcdonalds, people
#16 Animation “Alice Comedies” (1923)
Founders – Walt Disney, Roy O. Disney
First location – Los Angeles, CA
The Alice Comedies are a series of animated cartoons created by Walt Disney in the 1920s, in which a live action little girl named Alice (originally played by Virginia Davis) and an animated cat named Julius have adventures in an animated landscape.
Disney, Ub Iwerks, and their staff made the first Alice Comedy, a one-reel (ten-minute) short subject titled Alice’s Wonderland, while still heading the failing Laugh-O-Gram Studio in Kansas City, Missouri. After completing the film, the studio went bankrupt and was forced to shut down. After raising money by working as a freelance photographer, Disney bought a one-way train ticket to Los Angeles, California to live with his uncle Robert and his brother Roy. In California, Disney continued to send out proposals for the Alice series, in hopes of a distribution deal, which was finally arranged through Winkler Pictures, run by Margaret J. Winkler and her fianceé, Charles Mintz.
Although seen as cute and funny in their time, the Alice Comedies contain content which might be considered surprising and somewhat harsh today. Although Alice is a little girl, she spends much of her time avoiding danger, and even getting kidnapped by the cartoon villains, threatened with such perils as being tied to a log in a sawmill. Although all of Alice’s threats are cartoon drawings, some might find the imagery a bit disturbing due to the character’s young age, and the fact that she is a real person, or they might find it simply light-hearted and fun, due to the portrayal. #17 Coffee Shop (1971)
Founders – Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, Gordon Bowker
First location – Seattle, WA
The first Starbucks was opened in Seattle, Washington, on March 31, 1971, by three partners who met while they were students at the University of San Francisco: English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker were inspired to sell high-quality coffee beans and equipment by coffee roasting entrepreneur Alfred Peet after he taught them his style of roasting beans. Bowker recalls that Terry Heckler, with whom Bowker owned an advertising agency, thought words beginning with “st” were powerful. The founders brainstormed a list of words beginning with “st”, and eventually landed on “Starbo”, a mining town in the Cascade Range. From there, the group remembered “Starbuck,” the name of the chief mate in the book Moby-Dick. Bowker said, “Moby-Dick didn’t have anything to do with Starbucks directly; it was only coincidental that the sound seemed to make sense.”
The first Starbucks store was located in Seattle at 2000 Western Avenue from 1971–1976. This cafe was later moved to 1912 Pike Place. During this time, the company only sold roasted whole coffee beans and did not yet brew coffee to sell. During their first year of operation, they purchased green coffee beans from Peet’s, then began buying directly from growers. Source: Wikipedia BBC,sites.google
#18 Game “Zombi” (1986)
Founders – Christian Guillemot, Claude Guillemot, Gérard Guillemot, Michel Guillemot, Yves Guillemot
First location – Carentoir, France
Ubisoft Entertainment is a French video game company headquartered in Montreuil with several development studios across the world.
The Guillemot family had established themselves as a farming support business for farmers in the Brittany province in northwest France and nearby regions, including into the United Kingdom. The five sons of the family – Christian, Claude, Gérard, Michel and Yves – helped with the sales, distribution, accounting and management of the company with their parents prior to university. All five gained business experience while at university, which they brought back to the family business to help improve it, at a time where farming businesses were starting to wane. The brothers came up with the idea of diversification to sell other products of use to farmers; Claude began with selling CD audio media, and later the brothers expanded to computers and additional software which included video games.
In the early 1980s, they saw that the costs of buying computers and software from a French supplier was more expensive than buying the same materials in the United Kingdom and shipping to France, and came upon the idea of a mail-order business around computers and software. Their mother said they could start their own business this way as long as they managed it themselves and equally split its shares between the five of them. Their first business was Guillemot Informatique, founded in 1984.
They originally only sold through mail order, but soon were getting orders from French retailers, since they were able to undercut other suppliers by up to 50% of the cost of new titles. By 1986, this company was earning about 40 million French francs (roughly US$5.8 million at that time). In 1985, the brothers established Guillemot Corporation for similar distribution of computer hardware. As demand continued, the brothers recognised that video game software was becoming a lucrative property, and decided that they needed to get into the development side of the industry, already having insight on the publication and distribution side.Ubi Soft was founded by the brothers on 28 March 1986 The name “Ubi Soft” was selected to represent “ubiquitous” software.

#19 College Social Network (2004)
Founders – M.Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes
First location – Cambridge, MA
Facebook was first known as FaceMash, and was started in 2003 by Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg wrote the software for the Facemash website when he was in his second year of college. The website was set up as a type of “hot or not” game for Harvard students. The website allowed visitors to compare two female student pictures side-by-side and let them decide who was hot or not.
After no shortage of popularity and controversy, the site was expanded by Zuckerberg, along with Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, and the name changed to TheFacebook in 2004. Membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and gradually most universities in the United States and Canada, corporations, and by September 2006, to everyone with a valid email address along with an age requirement of being 13 and older. Since the 1990s, it has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made a number of corporate acquisitions—their largest being the acquisition of LinkedInfor $26.2 billion in December 2016,[7] followed by Skype Technologies for $8.5 billion in May 2011.[8] As of 2015, Microsoft is market-dominant in the IBM PC-compatible operating system market and the office software suite market, although it has lost the majority of the overall operating system market to Android.[9] The company also produces a wide range of other consumer and enterprise software for desktops and servers, including Internet search (with Bing), the digital services market (through MSN), mixed reality (HoloLens), cloud computing (Azure) and software development (Visual Studio). Steve Ballmer replaced Gates as CEO in 2000, and later envisioned a "devices and services" strategy.[10] This began with the acquisition of Danger Inc. in 2008,[11] entering the personal computer production market for the first time in June 2012 with the launch of the Microsoft Surface line of tablet computers; and later forming Microsoft Mobile through the acquisition of Nokia's devices and services division. Since Satya Nadella took over as CEO in 2014, the company has scaled back on hardware and has instead focused on cloud computing, a move that helped the company's shares reach its highest value since December 1999.[12][13] History Businesses Corporate affairs Corporate identity References External links RELATED ARTICLES Criticism of Microsoft History of Microsoft history of the Microsoft corporation List of Linux adopters Wikimedia list article Last edited 5 days ago by Coolcaesar Content is available under CC BY-SA 3.0 unless otherwise noted. 80 Micro November 1982
This issue’s cover theme was “microcomputers in science” (although the cover wasn’t quite as “scientific” in appearance as it might have been), even if weighing in at 518 numbered pages meant there was a great deal of other content too. As the “News from Kitchen Table, Inc.” column came to an end, a new column with a somewhat similar theme was starting up. In “The Gamer’s Cafe,” Rodney Gambicus and Winthrop Luzerdraw loaded up a Ford Econoline with Radio Shack computers and set out to roam America, introducing people to the wonders of computer games and reporting on titles for the TRS-80.

Rampage – World Tour giả lập PS 1 (1999)
Giới thiệu game Rampage - World Tour
Cốt truyện Rampage - World Tour
