Jan’s Mountain Bike trip to the UP #7 The Flow at Copper Harbor, MI
Everyone in the Detroit area said "You have to go biking at Copper Harbor". So, I followed this recommendation and drove to Copper Harbor. It was a 2h 15 min drive from the campground at Van Riper State Park, not that bad.
I started in the downtown area of Copper Harbor, followed the green "Copper Harbor Loop", entered onto "Garden Brook" and climbed up to #10. You can shortcut to #36 from there, I decided to ride also "Bullwinkle". At #36, I followed the "West Woopidy Woo", passed #30 and continued to #59. From there I rode via #58 to #57 on the "Raptor Ridge" Trail. Now, "The Flow" starts, the target of this bike trip. It was almost just downhill and you could really enjoy the trail and the speed. Fascinating!! From the end of the trail, you just follow the paved way back to Copper Harbor and enjoy a cold beer at Brickside Brewery.
But before I did that, I put my swim shorts on and jumped into Lake Superior. That was refreshing, I really enjoyed that.
Before, I headed back to the campground, I stopped at the Devil's Washtub and enjoyed the view over Lake Superior. I can definitely recommend this place!
#mtb #mtblife #mtbbrasil #mtblove #iamtb #mtblifestyle #mtbgirl #mtbpictureoftheday #mtbiking #mtbenduro #mtbgram #mtbphotos #mtblovers #mtbtrail #mtbpage #mtbdaily #mtbstreet #mtbtour #mtbnation #mtbnaveia #mtb4life #mtbracing #mtbkids #mtbuk #mtbd #xcm https://www.instagram.com/p/CkiYPH8OAdt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Jan’s Mountain Bike trip to the UP #6 Sunset at Van Riper State Park, MI
It is always nice to watch the sunset at a nice place. Especially, after riding mountain bike the whole day. The State Park is located at the east side of Lake Michigamme (it's shape looks like a T), hence you have a wonderful spot to see the sunset at the lake.
You might wonder why I chose this State Park.
First, we normally go to a State Park for camping. The reservation process is super easy and you can view your campsite location first. Most of the times, they have a couple of pictures uploaded to get a better impression of the campside. For further information, the Michigan State Park & Harbor Reservations website is linked here.
Second, they always have showers on site. You can also buy ice for the cooler and fire wood there; no need to bring it with you.
and third, I wanted to go biking also at Copper Harbor. So I chose this place to be close to the Marquette area and also able to make a day trip to Copper Harbor. Watch out for the next post to read about mountain biking at Copper Harbor.
