Name: Chivalry ‘Chiv’ Wolfgang Arroyo Nickname: Chiv (pronounced ‘shiv,’ like the homemade weapon). Age: 24 (234) Height: 5’11’’ Weight: 160lbs S.P.E.C.I.A.L: S5 P3 E4 C7 I4 A3 L2 (starting stats). Eyes: Dark grey. Hair: Shaved sides, messy slicked back top, jet black. Body Type: Average build, a little on the smaller side. Status Pre-War: Petty criminal wanted by police for a serious crime (that he didn’t commit); flees to Massachusetts and works as an off-the-books laborer for a short period before the bombs drop. Status Currently: Mercenary. Relationship Status: In pretty deep with MacCready. Spouse: Never married. Sexuality: Gay Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian American, some Mexican blood. Family: Military father, seamstress mother; estranged from both before the War. Taken in by his court-assigned lawyer Nora Kennedy and her husband Nate after the law catches up to him in Massachusetts. This ends...badly. Dogmeat, Junkyard (dog) and MacCready make up his family post-War. Languages: English Scars: (from Pre-War) Large burn scar on his lower back/hip from the initial bomb blast, jagged stab scar with stitch marks on his right thigh from an old wound as a teen. Post-War, he has fairly extensive facial scarring from a run-in with a territorial deathclaw pair in the Glowing Sea. He also ends up with various scars on his neck, arms and torso as time goes on. Physical traits: His eyes are his most prominent feature; big, dark and charming. Almost always has a black eye from some scrape or another. Broke his wrist as a kid which healed badly so struggles to hold up a sniper rifle for extended periods of time. Clothing: Nuka World t-shirt and jeans, or a leather jacket and jeans. Favors a combat armor chest-piece for trickier situations. Wears a strip of MacCready’s old Gunner bandana around his wrist under his pip-boy later in the game. Fashion style/lifestyle: Confirmed Bachelor™; messy as fuck, lazy. Skills: Stellar engineer. The boy can make anything out of wasteland junk. Really good at crafting settlements and houses using what’s already there as a starting point; in another life he’d have made an excellent architect. Has a good heart. Very loyal. Weaknesses: Mouth often gets him into trouble. Pushes for as much money as he can for payment for stuff even when he doesn’t need it. MacCready is his biggest weakness; but don’t think you can use him to control him. Hurt or threaten MacCready in the hopes of manipulating Chiv and all you’ll gain is one extremely pissed off guy who’ll throw himself into any danger to save him. Poor skills: Chiv is an absolutely terrible shot, can’t aim to save his life. Tends to spray-and-pray, and ends up favoring a shotgun because it’s the only thing with a wide enough spread. Awful at cooking, like truly horrendous. Affiliations: Minutemen Former affiliations: Railroad Enemies: The Institute Neutral affiliations: Brotherhood of Steel, initially; this changes to enemies later. Likes: Sugar bombs. Beer. MacCready. His shotgun. Collects cool melee weapons but is too scared to use them. Cats, worries a lot when he sees wasteland cats and wants to take care of them. Taboo Tattoos magazine. Dislikes: Fucking terrified of sentry bots and assaultrons, gets chills when he hears their voices and will do anything he can to avoid them; he spent like twenty minutes working up the courage to approach Cabot house and won’t go near KL-E-O full stop. Hates all the bugs and insects, thinks they’re disgusting and annoying. Gunners. Raiders. Friends: Nick Valentine sees him as an annoying but lovable nephew. Hancock also acts as a sort of benevolent uncle to him and MacCready, giving them guidance and aid where he can. Grows close to Daisy in Goodneighbor through MacCready. Deacon, although this friendship is somewhat tense for the most part. Vadim Bobrov, Travis Miles, and Drummer Boy. Acquaintances: Piper Wright, whom he doesn’t quite trust enough to fully befriend; he’s worried she’ll dig up his past. Preston Garvey, whom he gets on well with, but who disapproves of a lot of Chiv’s actions. Personality: Cocky, rude, honestly a bit of an asshole. Thinks he’s funny but is usually just being a jerk. Under the surface, he’s anxious and insecure and has some issues with affection (both showing and receiving). Chiv has survivor’s guilt, especially over the circumstances of him getting into the Vault. He also has ADHD which can make him a little chaotic at times, and difficult to get to settle on one task. For the most part, though, he’s upbeat and joky (even if those jokes are often in poor taste). Favorite color: Dark, mossy green. Favorite foods: Post-War, sugar bombs. Pre-War, burgers. Pines for hot dogs. Favorite sweets: Fancy Lad Snack Cakes, always has a box tucked in his pack somewhere.
