Ausente na Serra da Estrela, José Pedro Gomes chegava a Santa Marta com a necessidade de vencer e marcar importantes pontos, na luta pelo título do Campeonato Nacional de Clássicos Montanha. O piloto do Ford Escort MKI cumpriu na integra esses objectivos, chegando à vitória depois de uma intensa “batalha” com o seu principal opositor.

“Foi um triunfo dificílimo, onde tive de me aplicar ao máximo face à forte oposiç��o que tive nesta prova. No Sábado tive alguns problemas ao nível da caixa de velocidades, e isso impediu-me de chegar aos tempos que estariam ao meu alcance. A minha equipa técnica, conseguiu resolver brilhantemente esses impedimentos mecânicos e com isso no Domingo tive um carro à altura para lutar pela vitória, que acabei por conseguir se bem que a muito custo. Foi uma prova muito dura devido ao calor e aos problemas que já referi e por isso este resultado deixa-me muito satisfeito. Não está a ser um ano fácil, mas espero que daqui para a frente corra bem e que possa lutar pelo título nos clássicos até ao final do campeonato. Já foi possível comprovar que a oposição está forte e que este campeonato só se deve decidir mesmo na derradeira prova.“ Adiantou José Pedro Gomes.

O Campeonato Nacional de Clássicos Montanha, volta à acção dentro de aproximadamente um mês (15 e 16 de Julho), com a realização da mediática Rampa do Caramulo, prova onde o Ford Escort MKI com as cores da ACA Engenharia, ACO Shoes, Inerhouser, Maptrack, Fuchs, Kartodromo de Fafe, XMP, Publicita, KPMZ e Log, estará mais uma vez na luta pela vitória.

O popular piloto nortenho estreou nesta prova um bonito e competitivo Ford Escort MKI, não dando a mínima hipótese à sua oposição, garantindo a primeira posição com mais de quinze segundos de vantagem para o segundo classificado.

Mas nem tudo foram rosas para José Pedro Gomes, que se viu impedido de participar nas subidas de treino realizadas no Sábado devido a um problema com o Escort. Felizmente a assistência conseguiu resolver eficazmente esta situação, o que permitiu ao piloto poder participar na primeira subida de prova.

“Apesar de aparentemente fácil, esta vitória teve um elevado grau de dificuldade. Os problemas com o carro no Sábado, condicionaram a minha adaptação e por isso fui com alguma ansiedade para a primeira subida de prova, onde optei por um ritmo mais cauteloso. Nas subidas de Domingo tudo correu muito melhor e pude aproveitar o carro fabuloso que os meus mecânicos me colocaram nas mãos, para vencer com alguma margem para os meus adversários. Dedico esta vitória a esta equipa que me acompanha há trinta anos, a quem, - não canso de me dizer -, devo tudo! Este ano decidi apostar nos clássicos, onde temos carros muito engraçados, com motorizações fantásticas. Comecei o ano com este Escort MKI, mas tenho outro Escort MKII para correr e vamos ainda avaliar em conjunto, qual será o melhor para fazer o resto do campeonato.
