“A farmhouse, really?” Robin says, smashing the silence with a hammer.

“Yes, a farmhouse,” Steve tells her, not ready to take bullshit over this. “It would be quiet, it would have space to spread out, we could even grow some stuff.”

“Steve, you killed your mother’s peace lily,” Robin pointed out. “Statistically that’s, like, the hardest plant in the entire world to kill, but you did it.”

Steve sighs. He had killed the peace lily. It was only slightly an accident. “There are a lot of other plants we could grow,” he says instead of admitting his crime.

“Like tomatoes?”

“Like tomatoes,” Steve agrees. “I could keep a tomato alive.”

“I have my doubts.” Robin kicks, heel knocking against the shelf. “You could probably keep a potato alive.”

“I could keep a potato alive,” Steve says, uncovering his eyes to look at her above him. “Ask the potatoes in my kitchen, they’re growing without any help.”

“Steve!” she exclaims. “You were supposed to throw those away!”

“Well, it’s lucky I didn’t! Now we can plant them at our farm.”
