Instructions for patients-
Like general/ routine X-ray examination, the C.T. Scan examination is done by using X-Rays, Hence C.T. Scan examination carries risk of radiation.
Patients must not carry any ornaments or other similar articles on the part of the body which is to be subjected to C.T. Scan examination because of the image of the body part and create difficulty in precise diagnosis.
Since the X-Rays involved in C.T. Scan examinations are harmful to the foetus in, the women who are sure or have any doubt regarding their pregnancy, and last LMP date, must inform accordingly to the C.T. Scan centre and avoid C.T. Scan examination.
Patients are requested to bring with them all the reports of their previous tests/examinations such as X-rays, Sonography, Pathology Lab, etc. while coming for C.T. Scan examination.
One close relative should accompany the patient during C.T. Scan examination in case the patient is afraid or is unstable/ shaky during C.T. Scan examination.
Patients are requested to inform the C.T. Scan Centre if they are reactive/ allergic to any drug/ chemical or they are suffering from Asthma and Kidney disease.
Patients are required to be fasting (no food or drinks) for 4 hours before every C.T. Scan examination. Similarly, patients should take laxative/ purgative and flatulence (gases reducing drugs) as advised by C.T. Scan centre before C.T. Scan examination of abdomen/ pelvis (belly).
For routine C.T. Scan examination, patients will be taken as per prior appointments and token numbers. However, this C.T. Scan centre has discretion to take emergency cases any time without prior appointment. Accordingly other patients/relatives are requested to co-operate in such circumstances.
Those patients who came late (i.e after the appointment time) will be taken for C.T. Scan after all the waiting patients are over.
All the patients/ relatives are requested to understand every C.T. Scan examination is to be done initially without using contrast dye. If this does not give adequate information, then second/ repeat examination with contrast dye is to be undertaken (around 10% cases). Direct initial examination with contrast dye is not done. Similarly, it cannot be forecast as to which patient will require the examination with contrast with contrast dye. Hence every patient should assume the requirement of contrast dye and prepare accordingly so that inconvenience can be avoided.
In case, second/ repeat examination is required with Contrast dye addition C.T. Scan charges will be recovered.
T. Scan examination is not possible in this centre if the patient's weight is more than 100kg.
Serum creatinine (blood report) is compulsory for contrast dye study. (Under three days report)
