Tumblr media
"Once upon a time, she said to me that humans were a weak form of life that she wished to protect with her wisdom, but as she interacted more and more with them, her opinions on them began to change. She marveled at the beautiful complexity of their spirits, the sheer splendor of all they could accomplish through their hard work and intelligence. She told us that to underestimate human potential would be to make a grave mistake. With the smallest amount of guidance, enormous power can be unleashed in them, and a human who has reached their full potential may well be her equal. Someone who could have as much to teach an adeptus as to learn from them."
This is a portrayal of Guizhong/Haagentus from miHoYo's masterpiece Genshin Impact, way too incredibly passionately loved and written by Sae. Guili Assembly fanatic, tag rambler extraordinaire, and sometimes, I do resource/theme things over at iniziare. But more so than anything else, I'm here to love on Guizhong until the day that I die. While I actively write within the days of the Guili Assembly, I have a present/modern timeline.
Some rules can be found under the read more!
Tumblr media
The Writer / Disclaimer. Hi, hello, I'm Sae, I'm in my early thirties! Born and raised in the Netherlands, I'm a proud Frenchie at heart living in France at present. While in the GMT+1 timezone, my schedule allows me to be online at the most random of times, as I'm rather of a nocturnal creature. So don't be confused if you see me around hearting your stuff like a stalker at times that would be strange for other Europeans. I'm a little weird.
Furthermore, I bear zero affiliation to/with HoYoverse, Genshin Impact, the character of Guizhong or anything related. Any and all written and visual (excluding reblogs) material found on this blog however are, unless stated or referenced otherwise, entirely my own.
(Very) Lore Heavy. This portrayal will closely follow the events as released and shown by HoYoverse. However, I've only recently gotten into game as a whole (early 2023), so I'm still in the midst finishing the currently released content (slowly progressing through Sumeru at the time of writing), so forgive me if my knowledge about the game does not not extend to all regions; my specialty lies in Liyue for obvious reasons. And don't get me wrong, I can and will talk your ears off about it if you let me. But I digress, for this portrayal, I will take any and all released content (more in 2024 most likely, shh) and combine them into a bigger picture that is formed through rationality and sense, substantiating it with logical motivations and possible inspirations from Chinese mythology (but cautiously and selectively so).
Social Politics. I'm here to write, I don't get involved in social politics of any kind, this includes (but is not limited to): call-out and cancel culture, white knighting in the eyes of anon hate, ship wars, gatekeeping, and real life politics. This blog will venture into mature and sometimes debatable themes, if you're unsure of whether that's up your alley, you're free to hit the unfollow button whenever it suits and pleases you. No ill will! I'm incredibly big on respect, and I happily offer it to you in the same capacity as you offer it to me, it's a two way street.
Mains / Exclusives. Main partners are incredibly far and few for me. While I have long-standing friends on Tumblr whose portrayals I actively trust out of experience to mesh well with my own, they will be subjected to the same treatment as everyone else, as to avoid unfair bias. While I do not and will not tie anyone down, as I do not require the practice of mains to be reciprocated by any means whatsoever; I do insist that if you choose to return it, to give me the decency of your activity and priority, as you will receive both from me. In essence, this means that you will get priority, and along with that, your portrayal will be the one referenced in my meta (if you agree with its content, of course, but I'll inherently involve you) and in my interactions with others. My current exclusives are:
Osial: ozeanum
Shipping. I will be writing essays on this, as this is not a conclusion that I came to lightly by any means (and other popular pairings like Rambler/Guizhong will be elaborated upon), but this blog will operate within the belief that the dynamic of Morax/Guizhong to have been one of a romantic nature. That aside, I'm not interested in any shipping wars and/or debates about pairings and dynamics. We are, ultimately, here to write what we want to write and with who, regardless of substance or motivation. I don't judge what you write, and you don't have to judge what I write. Let's keep it at that!

every time I go to try and bash out a Knights of Favonius org chart for my own writing purposes I am confronted by two points of particular confusion
First, in Lisa’s story entries, there is a reference to ‘Field Officer Nymph’ of the 10th company, and the way the story is worded strongly implies that she’s a... lieutenant type of role, because she, quote, “resented the idea of an academic coming in at such high-ranking position.” However, that story entry goes on to say that Lisa declared Nymph able to fulfill the role, and THEN says that Nymph kept recommending her for captain. The thing is... according to Google, a ‘field officer’ is in the major-to-colonel range, outranking a company officer. So there’s a couple of options:
There is a position between the companies and the Grand Master (and Master of Knights, which gets used in Jean’s stories in such a way that it implies to me it’s the term for the G.M.’s second-in-command) known as “field officer,” which would fit that major-to-colonel slot. Which would make sense, if Nymph was overseeing several companies, including the 10th, EXCEPT THAT Lisa does the “she can fulfill that role” thing--in this case, it wouldn’t make sense for this higher-ranking figure to command one company.
“Field officer” just means something different in the Knights’ hierarchy (either a term for a lieutenant, or specifically used here for someone acting as, but not confirmed as, company captain). This would fit with Lisa saying Nymph could lead (presumably leading to Nymph’s promotion/confirmation as captain of 10th Company). The problem is, it’s so vague it’s really hard to tell what kind of rank it would mean exactly, making my org chart more difficult. I still lean towards this one, though, in part because Genshin Impact isn’t originally in English, so I think it’s possibly a translation of a term/rank that either doesn’t have an easy English equivalent or that the translator muffed somehow.
Second, the administrative side of the Knights, and how it relates to the active-duty branches. The facts I have:
6th Company is the logistics company. Specifically, Hertha, its captain, is in charge of “our baggage train, resource management and record-keeping.” Her official title is Coordinator.
Kaeya is introduced, in the manga, as the Knights of Favonius’ Quartermaster.
He is, in the same time period in the manga, ALSO addressed as ‘Cavalry Captain.’ (And the fact that neither manga nor game provide his company’s number is a whole separate gripe....)
There is a whole administrative side that HAS to exist, both because any force of that side needs administrative support and because Lisa, the alchemists, and Inspector Eroch all logically would exist within that administration.
So.... How does all this relate? I can buy that Kaeya is pulling double duty as Quartermaster and Cavalry Captain with so many of the Knights gone, but logically, HERTHA should be the Quartermaster, unless they’re in charge of different resources (hard to tell, given how vague both titles/job descriptions are). ARE they different, or did that duty get passed on to her somewhere in the interim? Different makes more sense, I guess, because Kaeya wasn’t captain of 6th Company of the time, but it makes writing more difficult because then I have to figure out what being Quartermaster actually put him in charge of. Also, who’s running the administrative end of things? Do the Knights of Favonius have a Chief of Staff around somewhere?
All of this is solvable with headcanons, but this is a whole chunk of the organization that we have even LESS info on than the active-duty chunk, and it is fairly important to some fanfiction in the works, and it is just very frustrating to me. :( I don’t want to write up a whole complicated chart and then turn around and have it jossed if they ever release more information.... Just give me the org chart, miHoYo!

yes ikesen!! i play ikesen & ikerev, and i've heard soo many good things about ikevamp but i'm just not into vampires 😔 i think the only time i finished two routes for an event in ikesen was for yukimura's birthday, and even then it's literally so hard to do if you don't wanna deplete your resources
omg, my friend is the same with the jean skin. she doesn't own jean either 😭😭 and PLS that sounds so painful, mihoyo really has something against you and childe 😭✋ idk what i'd do if i were you 😭😭
i spent the event currency immediately on chips so i could evolve my first artem ssr past lvl 70, then proceeded to go broke in stellin... so then i was in the same boat as you, and had to exchange for stellin LOLOL hmm i'm not really sure about the missions? if it's the ones i'm thinking of, i just try to use the special die to get to the square i need before the turns are out
- 🍵
oh, i feel like ikevamp is like 5% vamp and 95% ur dating a historical figure LOL the pacing is nice tbh, and i actually liked ikevamp more than ikesen oop. hopefully yukimura was/is ur fave chara though LOL i cannot fanthom finishing two routes in single event w0w
omg, i hope she gets jean then LOL WHAT THE FRICK FKJAF it wasn't a bad choice since it was on sale but LOL probably cry, bc i didn't get him on his first run </3 *takes all ur bad luck* get who u want and don't lose >:V
i deadass would've liked to do that but i ran out of stellin bc i kept leveling everyone up T_T but literally though, we got so much mats bc it was just launched and all that and now we're all in the broke zone OTL
Tumblr media
the evolution is so worth it though ORL
and ur so right, i managed to do a couple of them without using the special die so i was so confused when it said i failed, my brain literally malfunctioned last night omg, that was a dumb q HAHA
it's taking so long to unlock the rewards though ;w;w; gimemgimemg

Two games I haven’t touched in a long time are Desiny 2 and Genshin Impact
I’d love to get back into both, especially because their worlds are two of the video game worlds I’ve felt most invested in in the past
But I never really feel like playing either of them
Destiny 2 because the story has gone south pretty hard, despite them making the connections between story bits a lot stronger. The grind being way too anti-solo player and repetitive, and them constantly just doing things that make little to no sense or negatively effect the players or specific classes.
Genshin impact because I kept putting way too much money into it, cause I wanted to get every character that I could, and some of the weapons too (I still want Jean’s sword). Because the grind, while being solo-friendly, is really repetitive and costs way too many resources to just go upgrading things willy nilly, and the RNG for getting GOOD artifacts for the character you’re trying to build are WAY too harsh. And Mihoyo doesn’t seem to give a shit about their player base, especially after them giving essentially jack-shit for their anniversary event despite how big and successful their game is/was.
And lastly, for both games, I worry how the story will even be handled for returning people who haven’t been involved in anything the past half-year or longer.
Though I can see myself returning to Genshin more than Destiny, just because of the fact that I have OCs in Genshin Impact that I write on here @rimeofinazuma, though I’m still needing to think of a new URL since it’s two OCs now instead of one.
