*Gauna Mokshada Ekadashi - Significance of Mukundashtakam* Mukunda is the name by which Lord Krishna was known in his childhood. Mukunda means lovely or charming. Once it so happened that Lord Brahma taunted Krishna, who was growing up in the house of Nandagopala at Brij and was accompanying the cowheard everyday to the meadow. Krishna now, became a part of the clan. Lord Brahma hid the boys, cows and calves to see the reaction of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna knew what Lord Brahma was planning to do. Therefore, what Krishna did was to assume the forms of all the cowherd boys, their dresses, flute and other musical instruments. Dreaming that Krishna would enquire with him about the cowherd and the boys, Brahma waited for one full year. Krishna never gave a glimpse of being worried. Finally, Lord Brahma realised that Lord Krishna could not be tested. Lord Brahma surrendered to Lord Krishna and requested the Lord to forgive. As Brahma brought back the cows, calves and the cowherd boys and handed over them to Lord Krishna, he was forgiven by the Lord. The Mukundashtakam is in praise of this form of the Lord, namely Mukunda and it is believed that whoever recites this Ashtakam is assured of salvation. Mukundashtakam is considered to be as auspicious as Gita. ☺#MIC✔ツ (at Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/Brju21wFrnzk54sv9ILoYMCh3IkymsD9ENXBT80/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ljn84q6pux3v
