Creeped out...
So, here I am at almost 2am, doing my homework so I don't fall behind during the work week. I usually get a little distracted a few times while reading because there is so much of it, I give myself little mini breaks. Although, I was trying not to tonight because I slept through the opportunity to take my dogs to the dog park yesterday, so I was going to take them on an early morning walk after homework like I have many times before while listening to my audiobook.
Usually, the little mini breaks are reading through social media or something, which is what I did tonight/this morning when I was having a hard time focusing on my reading. I found one of those Buzzfeed click-bait type articles about "unexplainable stories" about people who claim people or buildings suddenly appear and then disappear, things that are far-fetched and probably fake. Normally, I read through them and don't think anything of it, like, if you're going to make up something scary, make it somewhat believable, you know?
Anyway, I'm reading this article and suddenly, I hear knocking. Keep in mind, I said it was almost 2am. The only light on in my apartment is the one in my office. I thought I imagined it for a minute, but then I heard knocking again and one of my dogs started barking. It wasn't knocking on my door. It didn't sound like knocking on any front door. I live in an apartment that uses metal doors and this knocking sounded like a knock on a wooden door. My dog sat on my lap for a little bit while I was freaking out.
Honestly, as I sit here typing this with my heart pumping, I'm sure that it's probably a woodpecker or something and I read a "scary story" that is plausible enough to cause a knock to scare me. With that being said...I am waiting until the sun comes up to take my dogs for a walk lol
I'm also now having a really hard time focusing on my homework.
**Adding an edit at 2:13am: After no noise at all for a bit, I'm starting to concentrate and get my homework done again and, all of a sudden...BOTH dogs started barking out of nowhere! All the lights are on in my apartment now (except my bedroom where my husband is sleeping). One of my dogs has also curled up by my feet. Not sure if it's because I'm nervous or if they want to keep me safe.
