So, this is happening

Thanks to a few members in this community, I’ve caught wind of this situation in which many people are denouncing this one SU comic that seems to demonstrate abuse between Steven and Connie. Keep in mind, I saw the comic before I’ve heard of the whole scenario here. At first, I felt conflicted. I’m usually not one to get into these kinds of things and I thought the comic was there to explore some kind of headcanon idea. However, that thought soon worn out upon closer inspection. What’s the most obvious is that this is completely out of character for Steven, even in the realm of AUs and headcanons. Yes, we’ve seen Steven experience outbursts in SUF, but ever since “Volleyball”, he tries to be careful of how and when he uses these new powers. He recognizes these could permanently damage others, especially gems. Not to mention, he’s never one to purposely inflict damage onto others, aside from self-defense. Heck, he constantly tries to help others, so it would seem unreasonable for him to just hurt someone, especially Connie, Greg, or the Gems. Not to mention, doing such things would make him seem like his mother even more, which wouldn’t go well with him. Through numerous times, there’s a big difference between Steven and PD: while PD is rather selfish and even abusive at times, even as RQ, Steven is selfless, empathetic, and wants to heal anyone in need. Seeing him hurt Connie would just feel wrong and simply unnatural.

I’ve also seen people associate the comic with the Corrupted Steven Theory. I can kinda see why, as the CST contains a few dark ideas, but let’s be real: many of the theories and AUs I’ve found on Tumblr also have a lot of dark themes. I don’t want to associate the comic with all of them, I just think the comic should be its own thing, regardless if it seems alright or wrong. I’m looking at the comic’s post on Twitter and I never found a mention or tag of the CST, so I’m not letting a single post ruin my experience for an entire theory that a lot of great people in this community already seem to contribute to and enjoy.

I just wanted to get off my chest, especially when something like this is already booming within the span of a day or two. Like I said, I rarely get involved with stuff like this, but I felt like I should say something about it.
