Panectar at The Royal Albert Hall for Notting Hill Carnival 2020
Due to Covid 19, Notting Hill Carnival was unable to be on the road in 2020. Instead, the Carnival community pulled together to entertain and educate an online audience on lockdown. This video is of Panectar performing 'Pastime Paradise' at The Royal Albert Hall for Notting Hill Carnival 2020: Access All Areas. It was steelpan that rang out the first sound of Carnival on the streets of Notting Hill in the mid 1960s. Russell Henderson and his band had been invited by Rhaune Laslett to play pan at the children’s street fayre she had organised. Russell decided to ‘make ah rounds’, and, with pan round neck, the band took the first steps into what has now become the biggest street event in Europe. Steelpan remains an integral element of Notting Hill Carnival today. For more information about steelpan please go to www.nhcarnival.org

For the first time in 54yrs there'll be no attendance due to 2020. This year we will miss the vibrancy, the food, music and culture of carnival weekend. But I'll recommend a celebration in your home... (safely of course). #nhcathome #nh#nottinghill#carnival #nhc2020 (at Notting Hill Carnival) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEgPUpopu6i/?igshid=1jcs9jd4vlptw

Million People March Protesters in Notting Hill against racism
Dozens of anti-racism demonstrators have assembled in west London on what would have been the first day of this year’s Notting Hill carnival.
Protesters lay down in the street outside Notting Hill station to demonstrate against systemic racism. The campaigners brought signs that read “The UK is not innocent” and “Enough is Enough” as they obstructed approaching traffic.
The march stopped…
