I’m not sure that I’ve seen them before, like my screen stopped just on the second platform. But, hey, this is a game where I’ve died by jumping too high, so...

- After this, everything is far easier. Like, both the first Darklands and Akiridion-5 levels have something quite difficult and then the next ones are way easier. Well, if we don’t count the undefeatable guard with shield and gun (why jumping on them doesn’t count as an attack?) and the two minutes running through moving paths trying to avoid spiky balls.

- You’ve tricked me there, Porgon. He was so easy to defeat and then he comes back in time and I have to defeat him again. The battles are the most entertaining part of this game. Maybe that’s because I love finding attack patterns and trying to disrupt them (thanks again to the LEGO videogames), but it’s a nice change from the constant running, jumping and dodging.

- And... I’m on a Escher drawing/mix of all the other levels. I don’t know how to feel about this. Lazy. It seems lazy.

- Ok, each level is my least favorite. I have problems with this one because there’s no Nougat Nummies and I’m losing lives because of stupid things.

Now I can say that I have mixed feelings about this game. I absolutely adore the theme, the music is great as always and the voice acting good, but then you have tedious levels that feel longer than they really are, enemies that always take a toll on your health no matter how fast you attack them and weird controls. I’m always happy to spend my money so DreamWorks knows that people loves TOA, but I’m starting to feel like this game wasn’t worth it. Anyway, I’ll be back when I de-stress again.

PS: Is anybody else having problems with this game? I know I’m far of an experienced gamer, but I’ve beaten many games before and maybe it’s the scrolling screen, which I’m not used to, but this game is quite frustrating and even though I’m competitive enough to try to end it, I really don’t want to know what they have prepared for when you lose all your lives.

northwestern coast of Sardinia. . . . . . . 

This weekend we visited the beautiful northwestern coast of Sardinia. Our first stop of the weekend was at a wine festival in Bosa, a small city that was originally one of the seven, ancient, walled cities of Sardinia. The town was beautiful and the market was full of delicious wine, adorable trinkets, and Sardinia specialties; including torrone, which is a nougat-like dessert full of walnuts and honey. It was so good and very tempting to buy a whole box!! But I restrained myself to just getting a gift for my mom, who's birthday is June 11th. We had lunch in a pirate ship down by Bosa Marina and it was a gorgeous building. After lunch, we continued our ride down the coast to Alghero which is another one of the ancient walled cities. Here is where we would be spending the night at a very nice hotel (in my opinion). After getting a tour of the city from our guide and learning about the history of this Catalonian city, since it was conquered by Spain for almost 400 years the people here still speak Catalan which is a Spanish dialect. We walked around to see the ancient wall and the towers that formed the fortifications of the ancient city, including some old cannons and catapults (photo 2). After seeing the cathedral, who's tower is the highest point of the old city we were given time to shop and do touristy things. I got some great gelato and got gifts for my family before sitting on the beach and drinking a large Ichnusa, the beer brewed on Sardinia, and talking about geology with friends.

We finished out the excursion with the most amazing boat cruise I've ever been on. We toured around the northeastern part of the island seeing the limestone caves and swimming the ocean before eating lunch that was cooked on the boat (and accompanied by wine of course!!). I spent most of the trip geeking out about the geology of the island and working on my tan, which in my mind is like the perfect day. The water was cold but it was the perfect relief from the hot weather (photo 3). And even after being stung by a jellyfish and almost falling off the boat, it was a great day. TBH jellyfish of the Mediterranean are very mild when it comes to their stings, it barely burned for 5 minutes before I felt fine! Before we got back to Alghero to head to Cagliari, we stopped at Neptune Caves which is a huge limestone cave with some huge stalagmite and stalactite formations. While not everyone on the trip thought the cave was interesting I definitely had a great time seeing the power of water over time. I fell asleep on the boat ride back to Alghero and finished the whole trip with some more delicious gelato!! Surprisingly I managed to escape the day long boat ride with only a moderate sunburn and some great photos!!
