On charges of "incitement to violence," the Israeli police arrested Professor Nadra Shalhoub from her home in the Old City of Jerusalem and took her to the "Mabasret Zion" police station outside the city, after confiscating her phone, personal computer, and private papers on her desk.
The police contacted lawyer Alaa Mahajna and told him: “We arrested your client to investigate her on charges of incitement to racism and terrorism.”
Nadra Shalhoub is Professor of State Criminology and Critical Childhood Politics, a lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Queen Mary University in London. She has published several books from Cambridge University Press, including Militarism and Women, the Theology of Israeli Security and the Economics of Fear, and a book about imprisoned childhoods. She lives in The Old City of Jerusalem.
The Hebrew University had suspended its work before retracting the step that had been preceded by steps of incitement and demanding resignation, due to its signing of a petition at the beginning of the war demanding an end to the genocide in the Gaza Strip.
