The Big 3 are all in the Wimbledon semis once again. Who’s gonna win?
Tumblr media
Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are, once again, all in the semifinals of a Grand Slam (along for the ride this time is Roberto Bautista Agut). It should be fun!
We’re down to the semifinals at Wimbledon and, wouldn’t you know it, all of the Big Three are still in action. That includes top seed Novak Djokovic, second seed Roger Federer and third seed Rafael Nadal. You won’t want to miss the semifinals on Friday, given it will be yet another chapter in the Nadal vs. Federer rivalry, while Djokovic will try and maintain his top form against No. 23 Roberto Bautista Agut.
The action is set for Friday at 1 p.m. local time, which means 8 a.m. ET. Djokovic and Agut will be up first on Centre Court, followed by Nadal and Federer. ESPN will have live television and streaming coverage, either through your cable/satellite provider or through a subscription to ESPN+.
Djokovic vs. Agut
Djokovic’s path to the semifinals included wins over Philipp Kohlschreiber (6-3, 7-5, 6-3), Denis Kudla (6-3, 6-2, 6-2), Hubert Hurkacz (7-5, 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-4), Ugo Humbert (6-3, 6-2, 6-4), and most recently, No. 21 David Goffin. Djokovic was projected to face NO. 19 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the fourth round, but Humbert scored the upset.
Looking at the list of names, Djokovic has had a pretty lucky draw thus far, though he did drop a set to Hurkacz.
Agut’s path included wins over Peter Gojowczyk (6-3, 6-3, 6-3), Steve Darcis (6-3, 6-2, 4-2 ret.), No. 10 Karen Khachanov (6-3, 7-6(3), 6-1), No. 28 Benoît Paire (6-3, 7-5, 6-2) and, most recently, Guido Pella, the 26th seed (7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Neither have run into particularly heavy hitters thus far, though Agut dispatching Khachanov in straight sets is an impressive feat. Still, it’s going to be hard for him to overcome Djokovic,
Agut is currently the No. 13 player in the world, which ties his highest career ranking in men’s singles play. This semifinal appearance comes on the heels of making it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier in the year, having previously never made it past the fourth round.
Djokovic, on the other hand, has 15 Grand Slam titles, including four at Wimbledon, one of which came last year. He’s playing extremely well, is the top-ranked player in the world, and is surely the favorite to win it all again this year.
Nadal vs. Federer
The Nadal-Federer rivalry doesn’t need much introduction — it’s spanned over a decade and has included some of the greatest tennis matches in history. Most notably, the 2008 Wimbledon final — also the last time the two played each other at Wimbledon — is widely considered the best tennis match of all time.
Nadal leads Federer, 24-15, though 12 of those Nadal wins came on clay courts, his specialty. Federer holds a 2-3 edge at Wimbledon. Federer has 20 Grand Slam singles titles, including eight at Wimbledon, while Nadal has 18, including 12 at the French Open (and two at Wimbledon). Yeah, it doesn’t get much bigger than this.
Federer made it to the semifinals by beating Lloyd Harris (3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2), Jay Clarke (6-1, 7-6(3), 6-2), No. 27 Lucas Pouille (7-5, 6-2, 7-6(4), No. 17 Matteo Berrettini (6-1, 6-2, 6-2), and No. 8 Kei Nishikori (4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4).
On his way to the semifinals, Nadal bested Yūichi Sugita (6-3, 6-1, 6-3), Nick Kyrgios (6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(3)), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6-2, 6-3, 6-2), João Sousa (6-2, 6-2, 6-2), and Sam Querrey (7-5, 6-2, 6-2).
While Nadal’s path did not include any seeded opponents, it did include two very strong servers, which are always more dangerous on the grass courts of Wimbledon, in Querrey and Kyrgios. He dropped a set to Kyrgios, but handled Querrey with ease.

Roberto Bautista Agut against Benoit Paire
Paire, the mercurial Frenchman with a fine backhand, has not always rated Wimbledon solid.
Sam Querrey vs. Tennys Sandgren
Big-serving Querrey loves the grass and is preferred to be his American countryman , the later tennis developer Tennys Sandgren from Tennessee, but Sandgren is back to the form that saw him reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open last year.
Joao Sousa v Rafa Nadal
passing second round against Nick Kyrgios has been huge for Nadal and puts him in the perfect spot, Sousa showed what a haunted fighter he is against Dan Evans, but Nadal always lifts him up in the second week of Slams.
<img id = "i-cfa58f901f555420" src = "https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/07/07/20/15745848-7222427-image-a- 157_1562528674249.jpg "height =" 418 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-cfa58f901f555420" src = "https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/07/07/20 /15745848-7222427-image-a-157_1562528674249.jpg "height =" 418 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-cfa58f901f555420" src = "https://i.dailymail.co.uk/ 1s / 2019/07/07/20 / 15745848-7222427-image-a-157_1562528674249.jpg "height =" 418 "width =" 634 "alt =" The breakthrough of that second round of clash versus Nick Kyrgios has been enormous for Rafa Nadal (19459011)
Breaking that second round of clash versus Nick Kyrgios has been a huge blow for Rafa Nadal
Kei Nishikori v Mikhail Kukushkin
Perennial bridesmaid Nishikori has his usual pitfall to be dragged long five-seater in the early round avoided.
Matteo Berrettini v Roger Federer
The muscular Italian grew up as a Federer fan and has been talked about in the game as a gently rising star. The Swiss know every blade of grass at Center Court, but Berrettini should test Federer if he is somewhat out of his game.
The Australian Barty has carried her shape from the French Open to the grass and should have too many tools in her box for the world No. 55, which nevertheless has many grassy areas behind her
Serena Williams v Carla Suarez Navarro
The long-serving, diminutive Spanish baseliner Suarez Navarro is extremely solid. However, Williams had improved a lot on Saturday and started to look like her old self, so this looks like a ticket to the last eight.
Serena Williams was much improved on Saturday and began to look like her old self "

Serena Williams was much improved on Saturday and started to look like her old self
Barbora Strycova against Elise Mertens
The Belgian Mertens has an extensive game that will be played against one of the most canniest artists on the women's tour that maximizes everything she has. One will emerge as a surprise in the quarter-finalist
Jo Konta v Petra Kvitova
A very difficult draw for the lonely British survivor against the 2011 and 2014 champions, who apparently think of it has benefited to keep himself fresh for Wimbledon. Another excellent achievement from JoKo is needed for her to have a chance.
Elina Svitolina v Petra Martic
Ukrainian Svitolina had a dip in the spring that coincided with her having a relationship with French player Gael Monfils. She seems to have emerged from the crisis, but is faced with the talented Croatian who made the quarterfinals of Paris
Karolina Muchova against Karolina Pliskova
This may still be the year in which the grand display takes place Pliskova finally realizes its potential at Wimbledon.
She leads the aces-table tournament with 29. In this struggle between two of the four Czech women who are left, it can be expected that Pliskova has too much for Muchova. Karolina Pliskova leads the tournament with 29 and must reach the quarterfinals "
Karolina Pliskova leads the tournament aces-table with 29 and should reach the quarterfinals
Karolina Pliskova leads the aces table tournament with 29 and should reach the quarterfinals
Simona Halep v Coco Gauff
Easily the biggest test ever for the teenager Gauff, against the former world No. 1, whose best result at Wimbledon was a semi-final appearance in 2014. Halep covers the court brilliantly and this is probably a loving goodbye to Coco, unless the Romanians feel the pressure to meet a young enemy.
because neither of the two players had won a grand prize earlier this year, the Chinese have it on experience, the Ukrainian teenager with a decent serving on promise.

Few days after the U.S. Open the tennis professionals once again gear themselves up for the Laver Cup, kicking off this Friday. The tournament is named after the Australian legend, Rod Laver will be held at the O2 Arena, in the historical Bohemian capital, Prague, Czech Republic. In the inaugural of the Laver Cup the tennis aces,  Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will be playing from the European team and will be competing against the rest of the world. Team Europe will be headed by Bjorn Borg and Team World will be directed by John McEnroe. Each team consist of, six players, six prominent tennis stars of Europe in one team and six eminent players from the rest of the world in another team. The European team incorporates, Germany’s promising 20-year-old tennis player, Alexander Zverev, the 2014 U.S.Open champ Marin Cilic, Austria’s Dominic Thiem, 2010 Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, and yes, of course, the greatest rivals of tennis in the Open Era, Switzerland’s Roger Federer and Spain’s Rafael Nadal. On the other hand, McEnroe’s Team World consists of the Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey, the Australian Nick Kyrgios replacing injured Milos Raonic, the 2009 U.S.Open titleholder Juan Martin del Potro, World Number 21 Jack Sock and the captain’s pick and the young promising talent Canada’s Denis Shapovalov.
The event is scheduled for three days, the first two days will have two singles matches in the day session and a singles and a doubles match in the night session. Each of the six players will play at least once in singles but none of them will play more than two singles matches over the course of three days. At least four players have to participate in the doubles matches from each team. Also, a doubles pair can appear just once in action. The tournament has a new point system. On day one, one point will be awarded for a win, on second day two points and on the last day three points will be granted to the winners. The team which attains 13 points at the earliest will be declared as the winners of the Laver Cup. In case of a tie, with both the teams with 12 points after winding up all the scheduled matches, a ‘Decider’ will be played where the players will compete in an additional doubles match to decide the winner of the tournament.
A tennis-weekend for the tennis fans globally with all magnificent tennis players coming together in action. And the most tantalizing anticipation from the world to witness the GOAT tennis aces, Federer and Nadal playing doubles together.

Australian Open 2018: Bracket, schedule, and results for men's draw
Tumblr media
Federer has 20 Grand Slam singles titles after winning the 2018 Australian Open.
At 36 years old, Roger Federer still has plenty left in the tank. He needed five sets, but he bested Marin Cilic in the finals of the 2018 Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year. In doing so, Federer scooped up his 20th ever Grand Slam singles title, cementing himself as the absolute best to ever play the game.
Cilic fought hard, and also owned wins over Pablo Carreno Busta and top seed Rafael Nadal. Most expected a Federer vs. Nadal final, just as it was in 2017, but Nadal retired in the fifth set against Cilic, the sixth seed.
Federer’s run to the finals was excellent, as he wasn’t pushed behind three sets until the final against Cilic. He looked fresh, and it’s safe to say he’ll be ready for the grass court season later this year, as he begins his quest for No. 21.
Here’s a look at Federer’s run through the Australian Open:
Federer def. Aljaz Bedene, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 Federer def. Jan Lennard Struff, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(4) Federer def. No. 29 Richard Gasquet, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 Federer def. Marton Fucsovics, 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-2 Federer def. No. 19 Tomas Berdych, 7-6(1), 6-3, 6-4 Federer def. Hyeon Chung, 6-1, 5-2 (retired) Federer def. No. 6 Marin Cilic, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-1
Below is a full bracket, schedule, and results, which were updated daily throughout the tournament.

Viewing information
The schedule for the Australian Open is nearly identical to how it has been in recent years. For those in the United States, it can be a tricky major to follow with matches beginning late in the evening and running until the morning of the following day. Unless stated otherwise, times ascribed to dates in the evening which end in the morning are ending the following day.
Through the first three rounds, play will begin around 7 p.m. ET on one day and will end around 7 a.m. the following day. “Monday” at the Australian Open is Monday proper for those in Melbourne, but begins on Sunday evening for those in the United States, with play wrapping up on Monday morning.
ESPN will handle television coverage of the tournament between its flagship network and ESPN2, and live streams of all men’s and women’s singles matches will be available live via WatchESPN. Play on most days will begin around 7 p.m. on the Tennis Channel before shifting to ESPN 2. Below is the full schedule for the tournament.

Acapulco.

Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios
Dominic Thiem vs Sam Querrey
Steve Johnson vs Marin Cilic
Yoshihito Nishioka vs Rafael Nadal

Australian Open 2019: Men's bracket, schedule, scores, and results
Can Roger Federer defend his title at the Australian Open? We have all the info you need to follow the tournament, including viewing and streaming info as well as results.
The Big Four aren’t quite done, but men’s tennis may be seeing a shift in the coming years. For now, going into the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, some of the usual suspects are favored to win it, but the field continues to get interesting as Roger Federer gets older and guys like Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are derailed by injuries.
Murray’s injuries are particularly worrisome, as the player himself has suggested that this tournament could be his last, regardless of how badly he wants to make it to Wimbledon this year.
Nadal is playing as well, and says he’s at 100 percent, but he dropped out of a tournament just a few weeks ago. That means Federer, at 37 years old and a six-time winner in Australia, is considered the favorite.
He’s also the two-time defending champion after winning the tournament in 2017 and 2018. Novak Djokovic would be considered Federer’s top competition at this point, but the field contains a slew of young players who are hoping to make that next step, whether that be cracking into the top 20 and doing damage past the third round or guys inside the top 10 still searching for their first Grand Slam title.
Djokovic is coming off winning the last two Grand Slams, lifting the trophy at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2018. Alexander Zverev, the world No. 4, is still searching for his first real opportunity at doing damage in a slam, as success in the big four tournaments has eluded him. He did, however, earn the top prize at the ATP Finals in November.
Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev are two of the young guns to watch, as both are making their way up the rankings and giving the top guys some trouble. Kevin Anders, Marin Cilic, Kei Nishikori, Grigor Dimitrov and many other familiar faces will also be in action in Australia.
Below is a full bracket, schedule, and results, which will be updated throughout the tournament.
Viewing information
Not much has changed in watching the Australian Open for those in the United States, though there is the one downside of some matches and courts that used to be free on WatchESPN are now locked behind the ESPN+ paywall. A seven-day free trial of ESPN+ can be found here. Television coverage will primarily be handled by ESPN and ESPN2, while there will be many free matches and courts streaming on WatchESPN and ESPN3.
Did you manage to follow all of that?
