Easton, alone: Blame himself. Anything and everything that went wrong is his fault. Stand there and just deal with it, because he deserves what’s coming to him. And if there’s uncertainty, he assumes he’ll fail or hurt someone along the way.

Northa, alone: bottle it. Pretend nothing happened. Everything is fine. She has a lot of difficulty facing things head-on while alone. Escape, even if it means physically running away. This is one of the reasons she has no friends.

Northa and Easton together: Each of these kind of balances out. Northa knows when to step back from a situation, Easton knows when to push through it. And if they’re uncertain, they’ll each ask the other. See: the very long ask in which they give each other comfort lol. Easton’s kindness and willingness to help these random digital strangers gives Northa the confidence to say that she must then also help, he cannot do this alone. But she won’t just let the two of them throw themselves to the wolves, either.

They never got to see them have their happy endings.

Never got to see their brother/son/whatever get married and be happy, never got to see him doing what he loves with the ones he loves. Easton got to be happy and loved and stable like he always wanted and they never got to see that. To them, he died or worse after a life of heartbreak.

…And furthermore, Northa has nobody worried for her except Lonn. She was right, nobody missed Northa South. Nobody cared that she isn’t called that anymore. “South” will be the last name on her death certificate, on every document with her in it, because nobody cares or even knows that she’s happily married.

If it weren’t for Sun’s worry and Lattia/Lonn’s already pending independent investigations, I doubt anyone would’ve known that their lives went on at all. In the eyes of the universe, they’d have been some cold case in an old folder because there’s no detective or deputy to solve it anymore.

HEY, WEDDING POST

You step into an unfamiliar dimension, a place with the same strange, starry skies as the circus you know well. This is the domain of Dusk, the realm where symbolism and emotions reign over even nature itself, but that is not important. What is important is the manor on the hill, and the celebration inside the giant ballroom in the center. The roof is a dome of crystal clear glass, the walls are lined with windows and vines covered in flowers. They’ve basically got the whole classic set-up, altar and everything, here, because I have literally no idea if the circus even has a church in it. House church it is, I suppose! I really hope our unclear lore didn’t accidentally cause blasphemy. If there is a church, I’ll probably redo this description. ANYWAYS!

It’s beautiful. Also, the snacks look handmade in the best possible way. No, there are no alcoholic drinks. The room is lit mostly by candles and the stars themselves.
