That's when I discovered Banerjee Tutors Hub. Desperation led me to search online for a "math tutor near me," and this platform seemed like a beacon of hope. They promised to connect students with experienced and reliable tutors in their vicinity, and the convenience of having sessions at home was exactly what I needed.
The process was seamless. After registering, I was matched with a tutor who understood my struggles and tailored the lessons to fit my needs. This personalized approach made a huge difference. Instead of spending time commuting, I could focus entirely on learning and revising. My tutor's clear explanations and patient guidance helped me grasp complex concepts that had previously seemed insurmountable.
In conclusion, Banerjee Tutors Hub proved to be a lifesaver. They helped me find the best "math tutor near me," which not only improved my grades but also boosted my confidence. for those who don’t know, i'm a brown teenager currently residing in india and am also a fellow 12th grader who will be graduating upcoming march/april and will soon be going to uni a little later. now, if it were normal school, things would've went just peachy as it did pre-covid, but even with the fate of which universities we get into at stake, cbse (an indian government education board) has decided to spilt our "sats" (they're not exactly an sat, but the value of this particular exam is equivalent to one) into two: one will be purely multiple choice and another would be us having to write answers down.
for years, us cbse students have become accustomed to the whole writing part since our education system is, daresay it, old school. i simply cannot count the number of times i have hand written an entire page (or more) for a three mark question because that's how we were brought up and that's what has been engraved into our brains ever since grade one.
however, because of the whole covid ordeal, cbse decided to make a smart decision (because yes, it was a rather justified) and spilt our exams into two, as stated previously. for students who have been so used to writing our answers down and getting marks according to the content, the steps that has been shown, etc etc, it was a bit weird for us to get in the groove of a complete mcq question paper but needless to say, we did it. we prepared to the best we can and we did it since the grades that we obtain in this exam decides our life. it's the sole decision maker of whether we get into a good uni or not. it's the sole decision maker of whether we're able to get the financial burden off our parents when we're older. it's the sole decision maker of how everyone treats us. it's the sole decision maker which could tip the scales of whether or not our extended family wants anything to do with us. eventhough it sounds like i'm exagerrating, that's the reality of a student here. education is one of the most important factors when it comes to a student here in this fucked up goddamn country.
for students who are planning to apply for colleges abroad, we can't walk up to the admissions board and tell them "oh here's my 12th grade results for the exam i've written offline after being online for two whole years and not understanding a single thing my teachers had taught. our government gave us the most difficult papers to attend and apparently, every average student in cbse has obtained less marks in our maths exam, need i get started on more crappier subjects like physics and chemistry? even english was difficult! and it's the language we speak and know so much about, yet we couldn't get above 95%. our paper was hard and that's why we flunked our exams, i'm sorry. could you please give us admission in your esteemed university?"
NO. that's not how it works and it never will. for cbse this is just another incident on their glorious history but for us? students whose futures are in stake? this is our life. our f*cking life and they've decided to make the paper so lengthy, ambiguous and difficult that even highly qualified teachers said they wouldn't be able to get a good score because that's actually how it is and that's how bad our situation is right now.
cbse has announced that they would be "lenient" in their grading but how can a person be lenient when it's a complete mcq paper? it's just a matter of hit and miss, if you get the answer, good for you. if you don't, try explaining that to your parents and your tutors who assisted you in any which way possible and will probably make you feel like an even bigger piece of shit by telling you that you could've done better, or later in the future when we’re working, that you would've been in a much higher position in your life right now if you studied more.
i'm not reaching out to you as a friend or as someone you know online (and probably might never talk to), but as a fellow student and as someone who has obtained education, regardless of school or home schooling. our government will probably not listen to us and repeat the same things they've been telling us since the beginning of this god forsaken exam which is absolute complete bullshit in my opinion. however, if this issue is taken much more seriously and more people from different places are aware about this? i'm certain they would have to take serious action and not slack it off.
with this message, i am attaching a video of one of my fellow 12th graders, talking about this from a cbse student's perspective. i have decided to type this message down for more of a back story as to what really goes on here so that you would be able to understand what they're saying and implying. i truly am not a person who talks about politics regularly and do my best to avoid it at all costs but this is the gravity of the situation. please do share this video with as many people as you can and reblog the shit out of this, it's my humble request. thank you and have a good day. and to all my fellow cbse 12th graders who have their exams going on? i know this is probably something you have heard countless times, but, good luck for the upcoming ones.
trigger warning: the video has mentioned su!c!de once but it's at the very end of it. just a heads up.

autism acceptance month #5
April 5th: What was school like for you, or what is it currently like for you if you are still in school? Elementary, high school, post-secondary?
School is very wonky for me. I have a lot of other mental health problem which affect school too. In elementary school, I could not read until third grade, but then I got really really good at it really quick. Even though I have dyslexia all I did was read, because I did not have friends. I did not understand math at all and I had a math tutor for a while but then I didn’t. I was in regular school but my school had a lot a lot of kids with learning disabilities in it, and the TAs would help everyone in the class, so I got help like that without being diagnosed.
In middle school I got really good at school even though it was super super hard, I think for OCD reasons. In 8th grade I had a mental break and after that school was really super hard (including up to now).
High school, my first two years was good. I did okay in school, and in 10th grade I was almost making friends. Then I did early college because the state will pay for it in 11th and 12th grade. The coronavirus lockdown hit in 11th grade and I got really depressed and very bad at school. I am now in 12th grade, online school in college. It is very hard and I almost didn’t graduate but I am on track now!
I am planning to go to in-person college next year and live in the dorms. I am very excited.

“YOU WILL BE FOUND” NATIONAL COLLEGE ESSAY WRITING CHALLENGE 2021 | DEAR EVAN HANSEN
In partnership with Gotham Writers Workshop and the Broadway Education Alliance, DEAR EVAN HANSEN invited 11th-grade and 12th-grade students across the country to write a college-application style essay that describes how they channeled “You Will Be Found” to ensure those around them were a little less alone over the last year, or, alternatively, a moment where they found comfort in connection.
READ FINALIST MADELINE’S FULL ESSAY:
Throughout this past year, COVID-19 was not the only pandemic plaguing our nation. In fact, the mental health crisis, especially among school-aged kids was magnified to heartbreaking proportions. Not only were kids distanced from their friends, but they were also restricted from brick-and-mortar learning. I saw this effect many families in my community, including my own. It was time for someone to take action. I started by posting on our neighborhood social media page, offering free math tutoring to anyone who needed extra help. The number of responses I received was overwhelming. After a few days, I showed up to my first house armed with a notebook, flashcards, a mask, and a patient heart.
Her name is Mira. She has always struggled in math, but online learning only increased her struggle. After working through a few sixth-grade level problems with her, I discovered her particular struggle, “You know your times tables and are able to do long division without a hitch, but word problems are what seem to trip you up.” She nods, agreeing. For the rest of the hour, I taught her tricks for how to recognize different functions through specific key words. We laughed as I came up with crazy scenarios for her to solve involving money and cookies. By the time I left, I could not wait to return next week for another session.
Their names are Hayden and Hunter. They were receiving failing grades in both reading and math. I arrived at their house feeling confident from my success on the previous day. After struggling through a couple area problems with the two of them, they began to talk about flag football and how much they enjoyed the sport. I began listening intently to what they had to say as they laughed with each other. I felt an urge in the back of my mind to refocus the conversation again to numbers and equations, but I knew that this conversation was lifting up the boys’ spirts more than any math problem could. We ended the session not so much making progress on their math work sheet, but rather having made a strong connection through conversation and laughter.
Her name is Macey. She had just moved to Arizona from another state which taught math differently and at a different pace. Now in a sophomore math class online, she was struggling to keep up with her classmates. I was excited to interact with someone close to my age but also tutor in the subject I love the most: geometry. I arrived at her family’s warm and welcoming new house and was greeted with a smile. Once we sat at her kitchen table, she showed me a quiz on which she received a lower grade. I was able to explain the concepts to her in a different way than her teacher had taught. It clicked. Her eyes lit up as she started correcting her test answers. After she closed her iPad, satisfied with her progress, she told me how difficult it was for her to move to a different state during the pandemic. We talked and connected through various interests and hobbies we shared. I left her house that day not only having taught her about congruent triangles, but also having formed a new friendship.
Although all of these kids each requested academic support, they all needed one thing even more: connection. In fact, I longed for this connection as well. Even in the midst of a global crisis, we were able to find laughter, confidence, and joy through something as simple as a tutoring session. I realized how important connection is through this time. So, thank you Mira, Hayden, Hunter, and Macey for being excellent students, but also excellent friends.
