By: Alex Reed, Jacksonville IceMen JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Cristiano DiGiacinto has been reassigned to the team by Hartford (AHL). DiGiacinto, 27, returns to the Icemen, where he has posted six points (3g, 3a) in ten games played this season. DiGiacinto has also collected 12 points (3g, 6a) in 26 outings with Hartford this season as well.   Last season, the 5-11 and 188-pound forward recorded 13 points (6g, 7a) in 47 games with the Wolf Pack. DiGiacinto made his professional debut with the Icemen during the 2017-18 season and recorded six points (1g, 5a) in 12 games before leaving the team for college at Acadia University from 2018-2020, where he registered 53 points (27g, 26a) in 67 collegiate games. From 2014-2017, the Hamilton, Ontario, resident produced 149 points (67g, 82a) with 369 penalty minutes in 223 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with the Windsor Spitfires. BY: The New York Rangers NEW YORK, NY - New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Bryce McConnell-Barker on a three-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2023-24 season. McConnell-Barker, 18, captains the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he leads the team with 74 points and 45 assists while ranking second in goals (29) through 66 games. He was also named OHL Player of the Week ending January 8 after recording eight points (4G-4A) in three games. In two seasons with the Greyhounds, the London, Ontario, native has compiled 52 goals and 71 assists for 123 points in 134 games. Last season, he recorded 49 points (23G-26A) in 68 games, earning Soo's 'Rookie of the Year' award. BEN HAWERCHUK RETURNS TO JACKSONVILLE ICEMEN By: Alex Reed, Jacksonville Icemen JACKSONVILLE, FL – Ben Hawerchuk returns to the Jacksonville Icemen, the team, the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today. The Icemen agreed to terms with the 24-year-old forward for the 2022-23 season. Hawerchuk returns to the Icemen, where he posted a balanced 35 points (18g, 17a) with 117 penalty minutes in 65 games played last season. Hawerchuk also became very dependable in overtime situations, scoring three overtime-winning goals. "We are thrilled to be able to have Ben back with us for this season," said Icemen Head Coach Nick Luukko. "Ben brings a lot of intangibles to our lineup and possesses a nice mix of offensive ability, grit and the ability to score the big goal in key moments. In addition, he is another addition to our core group from last season." During the 2020-21 season, Hawerchuk played in Sweden last season with Ostersunds IK, where he collected 23 points (12g, 11a) in 33 games.   In 2019-2020,  Hawerchuk began his professional career with the Brampton Beast, logging three points (2g, 1a) in 14 games. Before his time in Brampton, the 5-11 185-pound forward began that season with the University of New Brunswick (USports), where he recorded eight points (1g, 7a) in 13 contests. "I am really excited be coming back to Jacksonville, I enjoyed my time here last season," said Hawerchuk. "The coaching staff and management are top notch and they put me in a position to succeed, so it was an easy decision to return this season." The King City, Ontario resident totaled 136 points (67g, 69a) in his four seasons with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).   Hawerchuk is the son of the late Dale Hawerchuk, who amassed 1,409 points in 16 NHL seasons from 1981-1997. Friend, 25, returns to the Icemen for a third season. Last season, Friend recorded 13 points (5g, 8a) with 79 penalty minutes in 43 games played with Jacksonville. In addition, he also appeared in 17 games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, registering two points (1g, 1a) with 33 penalty minutes. "We're excited to add another member of our core group from last season," said Icemen Head Coach Nick Luukko. "Jacob played a major role in setting the standard and culture for our team. He brings an element of physicality and toughness that is hard to find these days." During his rookie campaign with the Icemen in 2020-21, Friend collected eight points (1g, 7a) with 101 penalty minutes in 44 games. He quickly established himself as one of the most physical defenders in the league. "I am excited to come back to Jacksonville and can't wait to see all of the fans at Vystar Arena this year," said Friend. "As a team and organization, we took big steps last year and being a retuning player, I am ready to build off that and continue in the right direction this year. Hora, 26, returns to the Swamp Rabbits after beginning the 2021-22 season with Greenville and the Charlotte Checkers before finishing the season on an AHL contract with the Syracuse Crunch. Having made 71 appearances for the Swamp Rabbits during the 2020-21 season, the Cheektowaga, NY native played in just eight games for Greenville and posted five points (1g, 4a) during the 2021-22 campaign. The blue-liner made a pair of appearances with Charlotte before signing with Syracuse for a 42-game showing where he recorded seven assists. Before he arrived in Greenville, Hora recorded 12 games in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms between the 2016-17 and 2018-19 seasons. In his ECHL career, the veteran defenseman has played in 271 games between the Reading Royals, Cincinnati Cyclones, and the Swamp Rabbits and has totaled 74 points (14g, 60a) over that span. Before beginning his professional career, Hora captained the Ontario Hockey League's Kitchener Rangers during the 2016-17 season, capping a four-season tenure with the junior club. The Icemen are the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers, and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack announced they had agreed to terms with the 21-year-old defenseman. Hadfield returned for another season in Jacksonville after logging six assists in 16 outings with the Icemen last season.  In addition, Hadfield added another assist in five playoff appearances. Hadfield was acquired by the Icemen in a trade with the South Carolina Stingrays this past March.  The 6-0, 179-pound defenseman registered four points (2g, 2a) in 16 appearances with South Carolina to bring his rookie point total to ten points in 32 games. Hadfield made four AHL appearances with the Manitoba Moose during the 2020-21 season.   The Oakville, Ontario resident registered 26 points (8g, 18a) in 46 games during his final season with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Barrie Colts in 2019-20. Hadfield is the grandson of former NHL standout Vic Hadfield, who amassed 712 career points in 1002 NHL games split between the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Hadfield joins fellow blue liners Jacob Panetta and Tim Theocharidis, forwards Jake Hamacher, Luke Keenan, Mike Szmatula, Matt Salhany, and Brendan Harris, as well as goaltender Charles Williams as players who have agreed to terms with the Icemen for the 2022-2023 season. BY: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack  HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack signed Louka Henault to a one-year, standard AHL contract for the 2022-23 AHL season. Henault, an undrafted free agent defenseman, joins the Wolf Pack after four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Windsor Spitfires. In addition, Henault spent the 2020-21 season in Finland. During the 2021-22 campaign, Henault appeared in 63 games with the Spitfires, setting career-highs in goals (8), assists (57), and points (65). His 57 assists led the OHL during the regular season. The native of Montréal, Québec, also appeared in 25 playoff games for the Spitfires, scoring 16 points (4 g, 12 a). Windsor advanced to Game Seven of the OHL Championship Series, where they fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Over the course of four seasons in Windsor, Henault appeared in 233 career games and scored 128 career points (11 g, 117 a). During the 2020-21 season, with the OHL not in action, Henault played 17 games in Finland. The 6’, 179 lbs. defenseman skated in five games at the U20 level for Kiekko-Espoo, scoring three points (1 g, 2 a). Henault also dressed in twelve Mestis games for Kiekko-Espoo, scoring four points (1 g, 3 a). He is the sixth player to sign an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack for the 2022-23 campaign. Henault joins fellow defenseman Zach Giuttari and forwards Tanner Fritz, Cristiano DiGiacinto, Alex Whelan, and Easton Brodzinski. NEW YORK, February 14, 2020 – The New York Rangers announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Joey Keane from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Keane, 20, has skated in 48 games with the Wolf Pack this season, registering eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points, along with 30 penalty minutes. He played in the 2020 AHL All-Star Challenge. Keane is tied for sixth among AHL defensemen in goals and is tied for 13th among AHL defensemen in points this season. In addition, he leads AHL rookie defensemen in goals and ranks fourth among AHL rookie defensemen in points in 2019-20. Keane has recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in the last six games with the Wolf Pack. The 6-0, 187-pounder played three seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) prior to beginning his professional career this season. Keane skated in 195 career OHL games from 2016-17 – 2018-19 with the Barrie Colts and London Knights, recording 21 goals and 81 assists for 102 points, along with a plus-28 rating and 216 penalty minutes. He was selected to the OHL’s Third All-Star Team in 2017-18, as he established OHL career-highs in goals (12), assists (32), points (44), and plus/minus rating (plus-45). The third-year pro has 12 points and 36 PIM in 38 ECHL games with Maine BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, February 11, 2020:  Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Brandon Crawley to the Wolf Pack from its ECHL affiliate, the Maine Mariners. Crawley, who spent the entirety of his first two pro seasons with the Wolf Pack, has skated in 38 games with the Mariners this season, notching two goals and ten assists for 12 points, as well as 36 penalty minutes.  The 6-1, 202-pound Glen Rock, NJ native leads Maine defensemen, and stands fourth overall on the team, in PIM, and has the third-most assists among team blueliners. Last season with the Wolf Pack, Crawley led the team in penalty minutes for a second straight year, with 111 in 50 games, and tallied three goals and 12 assists for 15 points. In 114 career AHL contests with Hartford, the 23-year-old Crawley has totaled five goals and 15 assists for 20 points, along with 210 penalty minutes.  He was a fourth-round (123rd overall) draft pick by the Rangers in 2017, after a three-year Ontario Hockey League career with the London Knights

Eleventh-year Pro has Seen 315 Career Games of AHL Action BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, January 6, 2020: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the Wolf Pack has recalled goaltender Tom McCollum from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. McCollum, a 30-year-old 11th-year pro, is 3-0-0 since joining the Everblades December 26, with five goals-against on 80 shots (1.65 goals-against average, 93.8% save percentage) and one shutout. Prior to that, the 6-3, 215-pound Sanborn, NY native played 11 games for the Maine Mariners of the ECHL, going 5-5-0 with a 3.71 GAA and an 88.6% save percentage. McCollum spent last season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, playing 34 games and going 12-10-10, with a 2.72 GAA, an 89.9% save percentage and two shutouts. A first-round draft choice (30th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in 2008, McCollum has seen action in three NHL games with the Red Wings in his career, and has logged 315 total AHL games with the Admirals, Grand Rapids Griffins, Charlotte Checkers and Stockton Heat. His career AHL stats show a record of 147-117-23, with a 2.72 GAA, a 90.7% save percentage and 11 shutouts. McCollum won a Calder Cup with the Griffins in 2012-13. Prior to turning pro, McCollum played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, with the Guelph Storm and Brampton Battalion. Will Represent Wolf Pack on Atlantic Division Team in Ontario, CA  HARTFORD, January 3, 2020:  The American Hockey League announced today that two Hartford Wolf Pack players, goaltender Igor Shesterkin and defenseman Joey Keane, have been named to the Atlantic Division roster for the upcoming 2020 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Ontario International Airport. Shesterkin, a 24-year-old native of Moscow, Russia who is in his first year of North American pro hockey, leads all AHL netminders in goals-against average, with a mark of 1.98, ranks second in wins (14) and fifth in save percentage (93.1), having gone 14-4-3 in 22 appearances on the season.  The 2014 fourth-round (118th overall) New York Ranger draft pick also has registered three shutouts, which is good for third among league backstops. Keane, 20, a rookie out of the Ontario Hockey League and a third-round (88th overall) Ranger selection in 2018, has scored six goals and added 15 assists for 21 points in 33 games on the season, good for tops among team blueliners in all three categories.  The Chicago, IL-born Keane is tied for the Wolf Pack overall team lead in assists and is tied for third in points.  He leads AHL rookie defensemen, and is tied for second overall among blueliners, in goals and has registered the third-most assists among league rookies. The 2020 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 26 (8:00 PM ET) will pit the All-Stars from the two Eastern Conference divisions against those from the two Western Conference divisions in seven skills events. In the 2020 AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday, January 27 (10:00 PM ET), the four teams will participate in a 3-on-3, round-robin tournament featuring six games of 10 minutes each. The two teams with the best records at the end of the round-robin will face off for the championship, a six-minute, 3-on-3 game. Day, a second-year pro out of the Ontario Hockey League, has skated in 16 games with the Wolf Pack this year, registering one goal and three assists for four points, 13 penalty minutes and a -1. SEAN DAY REASSIGNED TO MARINERS Dynamic defenseman gets a second stint in Maine BY: Michael Keeley, Maine Mariners  PORTLAND, ME – December 4, 2019 – The Mariners got news of a major re-enforcement on Thursday, as defenseman Sean Day was reassigned by the New York Rangers to Maine from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Day played 19 games for the Mariners in 2018-19, registering 15 points from the blue line. Day was a third-round draft pick of the Rangers in 2016, going 81st overall. As a 15-year-old, he became the fourth ever player to earn Hockey Canada’s “Exceptional Status,” making him eligible for OHL Priority Selection. He played for three OHL organizations: the Mississauga Steelheads, Windsor Spitfires, and Kingston Frontenacs. Day, who is now 21, was born in Leuven, Belgium but grew up in Rochester, Michigan, playing AAA hockey for the Little Caesar’s, Honeybaked, and Compuware programs. Day split his first pro season between Hartford and Maine in 2018-19. He began the season with the Wolf Pack and was assigned to the Mariners in early November 2018. With Maine, Day scored four goals and added 11 assists in 19 games. On December 27th, Day was recalled to Hartford, where he’d spend the remainder of the season. With the Wolf Pack, he registered three goals and 11 assists in 46 total games. In 16 games for Hartford this season, Day has one goal and three assists. The Mariners have a home-and-home this weekend with the Adirondack Thunder, starting Friday in Glens Falls, NY. The second annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, is Saturday, December 7th as the Mariners host Adirondack for a 6 PM faceoff at the Cross Insurance Arena. Fans are encouraged to throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the first Maine goal, proceeds to benefit local fire departments. Five years of AHL experience joins Swamp Rabbits' attack BY: Jordan Kuhn, Greenville Swamp Rabbits GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits gained experience and flexibility up and down the lineup with the signing of forward Ryan Horvat to a Standard Player Contract for the 2019–20 season. Horvat, who spent the last five seasons exclusively in the American Hockey League, brings leadership qualities and a championship résumé to Greenville. Horvat, 26, spent the last five seasons with a mix of the Manchester Monarchs, Ontario Reign, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and the Springfield Thunderbirds. Twice he served as the Thunderbirds' alternate captain. Championships are in his DNA. Horvat most recently won the Calder Cup as American Hockey League champions in his first season in Manchester (2014–15) and helped guide the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League to an OHL championship as its alternate captain. Horvat brings 262 games of professional experience and 189 games of major junior experience to the Swamp Rabbits lineup. In those 262 games at the AHL level, he has scored 18 goals and 57 assists, good for 75 points, and a +5 rating. The Ontario native has been a staple in the community no matter where he has been. As a testament to that, he earned both the Fay Scott Memorial Award, Guelph's nomination for outstanding commitment to education and community, and the Mike Kelly Humanitarian Award. Becomes 7th Head Coach in HWP History BY: The New York Rangers NEW YORK, July 29, 2019 – The New York Rangers announced today that the team has named Kris Knoblauch Head Coach of the Rangers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Knoblauch is the seventh head coach in Wolf Pack history. Knoblauch, 40, joins the Rangers organization with 13 seasons of coaching experience, including parts of seven seasons as a head coach. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Coach with the Philadelphia Flyers for the past two seasons (2017-18 and 2018-19). Prior to joining the Flyers, Knoblauch served as a Head Coach for seven consecutive seasons (2010-11 – 2016-17), first with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2010-11 and 2011-12, and then with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for parts of five seasons from 2012-13 – 2016-17. Over Knoblauch’s seven seasons as a head coach with Kootenay and Erie, his teams posted a 298-130-16-13 record in 457 regular-season games (.684 points percentage). In his first season with Kootenay in 2010-11, Knoblauch guided the team to a 46-21-1-4 record (97 points) in the regular season and helped the team win the WHL Championship, as the Ice won 16 of 19 WHL playoff games. In Knoblauch’s four full seasons with Erie (2013-14 – 2016-17), the Otters posted a 204-58-7-3 record (.768 points percentage). Erie won at least 50 games in all four seasons, becoming the first team in the history of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL; comprised of the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and Western Hockey League) to post four consecutive 50-win seasons. During Knoblauch’s tenure with Erie, the Otters won the OHL Championship in 2016-17, won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy for having the OHL’s best regular-season record in back-to-back seasons (2015-16 and 2016-17), and in addition to their Championship in 2016-17, also advanced to the OHL Championship in 2014-15. Knoblauch received the Matt Leyden Trophy as the OHL’s Coach of the Year in 2015-16, and he was named to the OHL’s Second All-Star Team in 2013-14. Over his seven seasons as a head coach in either the OHL or WHL, Knoblauch played a key role in the development of numerous players who are currently in the NHL, including Connor McDavid, Alex DeBrincat, Sam Reinhart, Dylan Strome, Andre Burakovsky, Anthony Cirelli, Erik Cernak, Connor Brown, and Travis Dermott. Prior to becoming being named Kootenay’s Head Coach, the Imperial, Saskatchewan native served as an Assistant Coach with Kootenay for three seasons (2007-08 – 2009-10). He began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL for one season (2006-07). In addition, Knoblauch has coached in several international tournaments. He served as an Assistant Coach with Canada at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship, helping Canada earn a silver medal. Knoblauch also served as the Head Coach for Canada-Red at the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge. Knoblauch was selected by the New York Islanders in the seventh round, 166th overall, of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He played parts of four seasons of junior hockey in the WHL (1995-96 – 1998-99) with the Red Deer Rebels, Edmonton/Kootenay Ice, and Lethbridge Hurricanes, followed by five seasons (1999-00 – 2003-04) at the University of Alberta. Knoblauch, a forward, registered 117 points (38 goals, 79 assists) in 102 games at the University of Alberta, and he helped the school win a National Championship in his first season in 1999-00.
