I reserve an entire day for travel, because that's what it takes when you're traveling by train and public transit.
Things feel so short, now: I'm flying back. I have a ride to the airport, so I don't have to call an Uber. I'll be dropped in front of the check-in, so no need to map the airport early. Orlando International Airport is automatic: everyone knows where to walk. I have a ride from there too, so no mapping Lynx buses or Ubering. The AirBnb is ready, keyless entry. But...I can't leave before the flight.
I have to wait. But not awkwardly dozing in a train station. In a comfy warm house. I'm not used to this, but oddly...it feels less cozy. The train station doesn't care what you do, as long as you keep quiet. Here, I feel like I'm being watched, so it's a very tense wait.
I don't want to dump on the people who have been feeding me and housing me for weeks. They're nice, they're giving from their hearts. They're just so normal, seeing the world from inside this warm house or warm hotel rooms and airplanes. They can't really understand my quirks? It hasn't stopped them from basically giving me a room for a month, taking me on family trips and out to attractions, etc. I've been included in their lives, and I didn't have to ask.
I can't smoke, so it's been a hell of fighting off anxiety to sleep instead of getting high to sleep. That's the bottom line: I can't live while hiding my medication, it's very stressful. Quitting is worse, as the longer stretches here have rendered me nonverbal. I'm way better off in Florida, even alone, if I'm not being watched and judged based on my type of medication. They never said anything about the abusable benzos in plain sight. Mike only brought up the cannabis. Their view is myopic.
There was a lot that was rough about me when I blew in, though. I understand the culture shock in both directions. Life here is too unlike home, though: no spicy food, the sun is rare, things ice over. I don't see myself adjusting to life in STL.

Good news everyone! Georgia has federal passenger train study funding!
Tumblr media
In combination with some great news about funding a lot of sorely needed railroad projects and studies at the federal level, Georgia’s U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock announced new grants to explore three new Georgia passenger rail corridors, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The new rail routes would connect major economic centers in Georgia and neighboring states, providing additional public transit options, increased mobility, and a sustainable, clean-energy future.
Tumblr media
Starting from Atlanta, the routes being studied are:
A route heading northward with stops likely in Marietta, Cartersville, Dalton and points north into Tennessee that would connect with Chattanooga and efforts in that state to create a line from there to Nashville.
Extending south and eastward, a route that would likely have intermediate stations in McDonough, Macon and end in Savannah with a connection to the Amtrak route linking Florida and DC on the east coast. There’s also the potential to create a branch that would go due south out of Macon, through Valdosta and link with Tampa or Orlando. It would be nice to get some two-state talks going with Florida on doing something together since Brightline is already plying the rails down there and its now a known quantity.
Perhaps the most interesting and likely first to get going is a high-speed line between Atlanta and Charlotte. The in-state routing on this one is not known, but it’d be very strange if Athens was missed. The growing South Carolina towns of Greenville/Spartanburg definitely and perhaps Anderson/Clemson would get stops depending on routing.
Another point of discussion is where exactly in Atlanta would these routes be emanating from; ATL’s current train station for Amtrak service on the thrice weekly Crescent service from DC to New Orleans is basically a glorified waiting room with rails and stairs that lead to Peachtree Rd just north of Midtown. There were some efforts to build a new multimodal station Downtown right across from the Five Points MARTA station, right where a bunch of railroad tracks pass through a trench. While we do need a world-class rail terminal for a world-class city like Atlanta (especially to help get a commuter rail service off the ground — more on that later,) let’s not ignore our 900-pound gorilla lying 8 miles south: Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Tumblr media
Literally the World’s Busiest Airport for 20+ years definitely needs to be tied into any long-distance (and commuter!) rail options here. The catchment area of passengers includes not just the entire state but anything that would beat a car ride from an area of about 200 miles in diameter around us. Every time I’ve been in one of Hartsfield’s parking garages, I’ve seen cars with South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee tags that are definitely not rentals. With frequent enough service, it could be very possible to simply leave the car and take the train to the airport and catch a flight. Most Americans can’t realize this convenience right now but take it from me after living in Japan for almost 20 years, being able to just hop a train even in the most remote parts of the area and get to Haneda, Narita, Kansai and Nagoya Centrair airports without worrying about long-term parking or begging for a ride from friends is a great thing.
According to Axios, how much of the $8.2 billion will wind up in Georgia for its rail project — or the timeline for the project’s start and completion is a big question mark. One thing I’d like to know is does some of this money help look into a regional rail solution here around Atlanta that’s desperately needed. Just like NYC, LA and Chicago, whatever helps the commuter rail network, would ultimately be good for the longer distance trains as well since they could share the tracks. That ATL Trains idea is still the best idea I’ve ever seen and really, REALLY needs to be formally studied with this money. Check out the 146-page prospectus yourself, it’s that good!
Tumblr media
Just like the Eisenhower Interstate Highway projects of the 1960s, the US really needs a rail renaissance in order to help face this brave new world of climate change, population and demographic shifts into sunbelt cities that didn’t keep up infrastructure-wise (building another lane isn’t cutting it Chief!) and the simple paradigm shift of decentralization in our metro areas in general– How many people do you know BEFORE the pandemic that worked “downtown?” OK, now how many people actually even go to an office every day? Our transportation network needs to be more dynamic and flexible to account for these shifts and overlaying a decent rail network, both nationally and locally, is paramount. This is in addition to dealing with improving road and air travel; those need to be sorted as well.

So, if you want to be a part of this highly satisfied clients, visit the luxury townhomes for rent in Orlando, FL and check out how they can elevate your life.
Orlando, Florida
While it may be tempting to move in Orlando, Florida because of the non-stop entertainment, you have to consider the cost of living first. The city comes at a higher index compared with the other cities in the country. Average apartment rent is $1300 while the median house price is $280,000. Typical meal in a restaurant ranges from $10 to $20 while average monthly utility is $129. A single person needs around $2500 to $3000 per month to live comfortably in the city. But again, these figures are only estimates and they can be higher or lower depending on your personal lifestyle choices.
Walt Disney World
The Walt Disney World features four large theme parks namely the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and the Hollywood Studios. With several on-site hotels, you will need 2-3 days to explore the entire area. The live shows, parade, and fireworks are just some of the events to look forward to. The Disney characters can bring back memories of your childhood. But while this is a great tourist attraction, the crowd especially during peak season can be a deal breaker. There are also reviews that prices are very expensive like the food and hotel rates. So, if you are on a budget and hate the crowd, plan your visit ahead and avoid summer vacation and holidays.
Soon: Brightline Trips from South Florida to Orlando
Brace yourselves and get ready with the fastest trains of Brightline running with an accelerated speed of up to 130 mph. The route is a 35-mile rail between Orlando International Airport and Cocoa. NDK 2021 and the Gaylord
Believe it or not, NDK 2021 is happening in less then a month! The premier Rocky Mountain anime convention will be September 3rd to 5th and will be the first anime convention in in the Denver Metro area since the pandemic started over a year ago. The event will also be held for the first time at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. Given the move to the new location there were many questions that we had. Fortunately with the help of NDK Press Coordinator were able to get our questions answered by Amanda Liebermann, Executive Director of NDK and CFO of the RMAA.
The Gameslave (GS): When did NDK start considering a change of venue? Amanda Liebermann (AL): I started looking for a new venue my first year as Executive Director, 2005. We had just moved into the Marriott DTC, and we all knew we were going to outgrow it soon. Downtown Denver was never our first choice, so we always had an eye on venues that weren't in that area. GS: When did NDK start negotiations with the Gaylord? AL: I started looking at this development area about 12 years ago because of an article in the Denver Post. It was a brief news blurb that mentioned a proposed development that included a convention hotel near the airport. The area was initially billed as the "High Point" development. I clipped a photo out of the newspaper immediately, and started investigating the development in earnest. Gaylord signed on shortly afterwards, and I spent the next 10 years working through Aurora City Council, Marriot International and VisitAurora.gov to get a meeting and contract with Gaylord Sales. GS: How will the total area of convention space at the Gaylord compare to what NDK has used at the Sheraton? AL: I cannot overstate this- the Gaylord is massive. You really cannot believe it until you are inside the space itself. We are increasing our convention's space by over 100,000 sq feet. All of our panel rooms, Exhibitors' hall, and Artist Alley are effectively doubling in size. GS: How will this move affect the average attendee? AL: The Gaylord Rockies is an incredible venue, and we are so proud to call this place home! This new venue is immense, state of the art, and simply beautiful to be in. It was created by the same crew that did the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. With the huge increase in space, NDK is able to spread out and try some new things. For example, we are now able to offer things to our attendees that we never have before, such as an Itasha Car Show and Cosplay Photoshoot space inside the beautiful Grand Lodge, among many other things. In addition to the new offerings, we are also excited to expand our Video Gaming Room and tabletop Gaming Dojo to 3x their previous size. GS: The Gaylord is a resort hotel with some expectation of higher costs. Also, the hotel is relatively isolated with limited dining options. How is NDK working to control cost for attendees? AL: For starters, the hotel price is significantly less expensive per night. The Sheraton Downtown was $230/night. The Gaylord is $181/night, this includes the resort fee that grants all hotel room holders access to the Gaylord Waterpark and the awesome lazy river. We are completely aware that the hotel has some upscale restaurants that won't fit into everyone's budget. That is why we are planning on bringing in a fleet of Food Trucks throughout the convention weekend for budget friendly food options. We want to make sure our attendees have many options throughout the convention weekend. The parking at Gaylord is definitely more expensive per day than some of the previous downtown Denver options, but there are always ride share options, the A Line train, and there's also Spot Hero. We definitely encourage our attendees and staff to carpool whenever possible. GS: Will registration fees remain the same? AL: They have increased slightly. We hadn't raised our registration fees since 2010, so with this move, we increased them by about 10-15% across the board. But we still offer the early bird registration option for next year that is equal to the old registration prices; people just have to register within the given time frame. GS: For attendees not staying at the hotel, has the convention negotiated daily parking rates and/or shuttle service from the 61st and Pena RTD station? AL: Unfortunately no. NDK is a nonprofit with a modest budget and cannot take on the liability or cost of a shuttle service at this time. Editors Note: I did call the hotel and asked about transit to and from the 61st and Pena RTD A Line station. There is a shuttle leaving the Park and Ride every 30 minutes on the 15 and 45 of each hour. GS: How long does NDK anticipate to be at the Gaylord? AL: We are contracted at Gaylord for the next 6 years and anticipate booking more after this year.
And there you have it. If you do decide to stay at the hotel this year information can be found here. Here is to a good convention this year and to many years to come.

The Orlando Airport Train to Disney World Took a BIG Step Forward
We have been on quite the journey following along with the progress of the Brightline train to Disney World. ©Brightline Previously, the high-speed train was supposed to run from the Orlando International Airport to a station right at Disney Springs. Bishop International Airport
Tumblr media
Four miles (7km) away from Flint, Bishop International Airport (FNT) is Michigan’s leading airport. Also known as Flint Airport, the airport can handle international flights; most of its traffic comes from within the United States or Canada. You will find plenty of shopping and dining options at the airport and various other amenities like bars, gift shops, and ATMs.
Only a few airlines offer flights to Flint Airport. Detroit and Cleveland are two of the major cities with flight connections to Flint. For a more intimate experience and to avoid paying taxes and fees, many passengers prefer to fly through smaller airports. Bishop International Airport offers the lowest average Michigan airfares and is smaller, making it a more welcoming destination.
Flint Airport - getting into the city
Taxis: Michigan is America's car capital, and Flint follows its lead by making it difficult to travel anywhere else without a vehicle. ‘Hey!’ is one of the many taxi companies that operate from Bishop International Airport. Taxi, JCN Limousine and International Cab are some taxi companies that operate from Bishop International Airport. The airport is located in central Flint. Taxis are available outside of the terminal.
Bus: The Mass Transportation Authority operates buses that connect the airport with the downtown bus depot located on Route 11. From Monday through Friday, the service between the airport and the downtown bus depot on Route 11 is offered every hour from 6 am to 6 pm. Taxis are available outside the terminal building. Fares start at $1.50 and can be paid in cash (exact change required).
Parking for Cars
For 30 minutes, short-term parking is $1.20 per day. Weekly rates are $140. Long-term parking costs less, at $2 per hour and $7 per day. It is also cheaper at $49 per week. The economy parking lot offers the cheapest rates. The charges start at $2 an hour and can go up to $5 per person per day or $30 per week. A free shuttle service connects the airport to the economy parking lot. It runs every five minutes.
The airport is approximately 5 km southwest of downtown Flint. Drivers coming from the outside can reach the airport via Interstate 69 exit # 131 or Interstate 75 exit # 116. Commuters arriving at the airport must board the train to Flint Amtrak station and then take the Flint Transportation Center's MTA bus to the airport.
Information Desks
You will find the information desk at Bishop Airport right across from baggage reclaims. This information centre is also known as the Flint Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

A Place to Visit in Clearwater Florida
Clearwater Florida is one of the best beaches in the world. It is known for its excellent weather, as well as many activities and tourist attractions. For a relaxing vacation you can visit this place and enjoy the sunshine. The place is very close to the Orlando International Airport, which is about 30 miles away from Clearwater.
Tumblr media
In order to reach this place you need to travel by car or train. If you take the train, you will find that there are many stations and it takes you through several different cities. By traveling by car, you can easily drive to your hotel, which is on the beach itself.
There are a number of things that you can do on the beach. You can relax by lying on the beach and enjoying the view. If you like water sports then you can rent a boat, jet ski or just spend some time at the beach without any care in the world. You can have all these fun and enjoyable things under the sun by staying at a hotel near the beach.
Another reason why this place to visit is popular is because of all the celebrities that visit Clearwater each year. Many famous singers, musicians and movie stars like to stay in a hotel here in Clearwater. The prices are cheaper than anywhere else in the state. They also have various entertainment centers and have stage shows on a regular basis. For people who like to party, they have several bars and live music performances lined up.
If you prefer to stay in a hotel that is not right on the beach, then you can go for condos and villas. These types of accommodations can be found near or even right on the beach. The prices in these types of accommodations can be quite low. The only thing is that you might have to travel a little farther to get to the beach. Some of these places have all the modern facilities that you would find in a good hotel.
When you go on vacation to Clearwater Florida, you must make sure that you get yourself involved with all the local activities. There is a lot of shopping to be done in Clearwater. You can shop at one of the many malls around town. There are also a variety of restaurants around. Dine at one of the restaurants and enjoy the food and the sights.

Democrats Ready Impeachment Charge Against Trump for Inciting Capitol Mob (NYT) Democrats laid the groundwork on Friday for impeaching President Trump a second time, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California threatened to bring him up on formal charges if he did not resign “immediately” over his role in inciting a violent mob attack on the Capitol this week. The threat was part of an all-out effort by furious Democrats, backed by a handful of Republicans, to pressure Mr. Trump to leave office in disgrace after the hourslong siege by his supporters on Wednesday on Capitol Hill. Although he has only 12 days left in the White House, they argued he was a direct danger to the nation.
Twitter Permanently Bans Trump (NYT) Twitter said on Friday that it had permanently banned President Trump from its service “due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” effectively cutting him off from his favorite megaphone for reaching the public and capping a series of actions by mainstream sites to limit his online reach. Twitter said in a blog post that Mr. Trump’s personal @realDonaldTrump account, which has more than 88 million followers, would be shut down immediately. The company said two tweets that Mr. Trump had posted on Friday—one calling his supporters “patriots” and another saying he would not go to the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20—violated its rules against glorifying violence. A day earlier, Facebook had barred Mr. Trump for the rest of his term, and other digital platforms—including Snapchat, YouTube, Twitch and Reddit—also recently limited Mr. Trump on their services. The actions were a stark illustration of the power of the social media companies and how they could act almost unilaterally when they chose.
America is exceptional in the nature of its political divide (Pew Research Center) In his first speech as president-elect, Joe Biden made clear his intention to bridge the deep and bitter divisions in American society. He pledged to look beyond red and blue and to discard the harsh rhetoric that characterizes our political debates. It will be a difficult struggle. Americans have rarely been as polarized as they are today. The studies we’ve conducted at Pew Research Center over the past few years illustrate the increasingly stark disagreement between Democrats and Republicans on the economy, racial justice, climate change, law enforcement, international engagement and a long list of other issues. A month before the election, roughly eight-in-ten registered voters in both camps said their differences with the other side were about core American values, and roughly nine-in-ten—again in both camps—worried that a victory by the other would lead to “lasting harm” to the United States. But the 2020 pandemic has revealed how pervasive the divide in American politics is. Democrats and Republicans differ over mask wearing, contact tracing, how well public health officials are dealing with the crisis, whether to get a vaccine once one is available, and whether life will remain changed in a major way after the pandemic.
US motions expand drug claims against Honduras president (AP) U.S. federal prosecutors have filed motions saying that Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández took bribes from drug traffickers and had the country’s armed forces protect a cocaine laboratory and shipments to the United States. The documents quote Hernández as saying he wanted to “‘shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos’ by flooding the United States with cocaine.” The motions filed Friday with the U.S. Southern District of New York do not specifically name the president, referring to him as “CC-4,” or co-conspirator No. 4, but clearly identify him by naming his brother and his own post as president. The president, who has not been charged, has repeatedly denied any connection to traffickers despite the 2019 conviction of one of his brothers, Juan Antonio Hernandez. During that trial, the president was accused of accepting more than $1 million from Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán—an accusation repeated in the new motions.
A Week Into Full Brexit, the Pain for U.K. Businesses Has Arrived (NYT) Britain started 2021 in a new relationship with its biggest trade partner, and it has immediately brought a litany of headaches and lost business. Within a week, implications of the Brexit trade deal with the European Union are being felt by businesses up and down the country as food deliveries are delayed for not having the right customs paperwork, logistics companies halt the shipment of goods, and retailers discover their supply chains might be obsolete. After decades inside the European Union’s customs union and single market, Britain’s businesses have unearthed new challenges and changes every day. MONDAY The first day of financial trading under the new agreement meant the stock of European companies could no longer be traded on the London-based platforms they have historically been exchanged on. The trades have migrated to trading platforms in cities including Amsterdam and Paris. TUESDAY The British retailer Marks & Spencer had trouble getting its fresh salads and other prepared foods across the English Channel to its stores in France, leaving some shelves bare in Paris. WEDNESDAY The governor of the Bank of England, Britain’s central bank, told a parliamentary committee that the Brexit deal would cost the British economy about 2 percent of gross domestic product over the next few years. Part of that expense, said Andrew Bailey, the governor, would be caused by additional paperwork for customs declarations and other expenses of trade—what he called “the grit in the mechanism.”
Blizzard covers Spain in white, brings Madrid to standstill (AP) An unusual and persistent blizzard has blanketed large parts of Spain with snow, freezing traffic and leaving thousands trapped in cars or in train stations and airports that had suspended all services as the snow kept falling on Saturday. The capital, Madrid, and other parts of central Spain activated for the first time a red weather alert, the highest, and called in the military to rescue people from vehicles trapped on everything from small roads to the city’s major thoroughfares. The national AEMET weather agency had said that up to 20 centimeters (nearly 8 inches) of snow could accumulate in large parts of the country but the build-up reached more than 50 centimeters even in urban areas.
National power grid breakdown plunges Pakistan into darkness (Reuters) A breakdown in Pakistan’s national power grid plunged the country into darkness on Saturday night, officials said. “A countrywide blackout has been caused by a sudden plunge in the frequency in the power transmission system,” Pakistan’s Power Minister Omar Ayub Khan said on Twitter. He asked people across the country to remain calm.
North Korea’s Kim calls U.S. ‘our biggest enemy’ in challenge to Biden (Reuters) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for more advanced nuclear weapons and said the United States is “our biggest enemy,” state media said on Saturday, presenting a stark challenge to President-elect Joe Biden just days before he takes office. “Our foreign political activities should be focused and redirected on subduing the U.S., our biggest enemy and main obstacle to our innovated development,” Kim said during nine hours of remarks over several days at a rare party congress in Pyongyang. “No matter who is in power in the U.S., the true nature of the U.S. and its fundamental policies towards North Korea never change,” Kim said, vowing to expand ties with “anti-imperialist, independent forces.” North Korea would not “misuse” its nuclear weapons, Kim said but the country is expanding its nuclear arsenal, including “preemptive” and “retaliatory” strike capabilities and warheads of varying sizes.
Indonesia jet carrying 62 goes missing on domestic flight (AP) A jet carrying 62 people lost contact with air traffic controllers minutes after taking off from Indonesia’s capital on a domestic flight on Saturday, and debris found by fishermen was being examined to see if it was from the missing plane, officials said. The airline said in a statement that the plane was on an estimated 90-minute flight from Jakarta to Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province on Indonesia’s Borneo island. The plane was carrying 50 passengers and 12 crew members, all Indonesian nationals, including six extra crew for another trip. Bambang Suryo Aji, the National Search and Rescue Agency’s deputy head of operations and preparedness, said rescuers collected plane debris and clothes that were found by fishermen.
Philippines’ Catholics display devotion to Christ statue, pray for end of pandemic (Reuters) Thousands of Catholic devotees observed physical distancing as they queued for Saturday morning masses in the Philippine capital to celebrate a centuries-old black wooden statue of Jesus Christ believed to bring miracles to the faithful. With the coronavirus pandemic afflicting the country, authorities cancelled an annual procession of the life-sized image of the “Black Nazarene”, the country’s largest religious event that draws millions of devotees in an annual ritual observed for 200 years. Instead, church leaders organised 15 masses at Manila’s Quiapo church, which houses the life-sized statue, and livestreamed the worship services, pleading for devotees not to flock into the basilica. “My personal prayer is good health for my family...I pray for a better Philippines this 2021 and for COVID-19 to end,” Prubancio Sarasin, 56, a security guard and devotee for 15 years, told Reuters.
French warplanes fly over Central African Republic amid rebel offensives (Reuters) Rebels attacked two towns in the Central African Republic on Saturday as French warplanes flew over in an apparent attempt to deter an advance on the capital after a disputed election. The attacks on Bouar, 440 km (275 miles) northwest of the capital and Grimari, 300 km northeast of Bangui, were the latest by a coalition of armed rebels backed by former president Francois Bozize. The rebels had threatened to march on the capital and disrupt the Dec. 27 general election after Bozize’s candidature was rejected by the country’s highest court. They attacked towns close to Bangui but didn’t reach the city. The gold- and diamond-rich country of 4.7 million has been hit by a successive wave of violence since Bozize was ousted by a rebellion in 2013. Thousands have been killed and more than a million forced from their homes.

Disney World Vocabulary: Terms To Know
Tumblr media
When planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, guests encounter pieces of language unique to the most magical place on earth.  To help you understand what Cast Members, other guests, and even your Travel Advisors are talking about we’ve compiled a list here for you.  Please enjoy our list of Disney vocabulary terms and their meanings to study before your next trip. Also, check back because this list will continue to grow and evolve, just like the parks!
Disney Vocab In Alphabetical Order:
Advanced Dining Reservation (ADRs)
ADR's secure your party a table at some of Disney’s most popular restaurants. Guests can make ADRs at the 180-day mark of their check-in date, starting at 6 AM EST online and 7 AM over the phone and can book them for up to 10 days past their check-in date. Here is our guide to the planning timeline in case you missed it.
Cast Member (CM)
Cast Members are the employees at Disney.  Walt Disney believed the guest’s experience when visiting his theme parks is akin to being at a movie, so rather than calling his employees just that, the term "Cast Member" underscores to all that they are part of the production that is put on each day for the guests visiting the parks and resorts.
Tumblr media
Character Dining
Table Service experiences that include an appearance by Disney Characters are considered Character Dining. Here is our dining guide, as well as where to find the Disney Princesses for character dining experiences.
Counter Service / Quick Service (CS / QS)
Counter Service or Quick Service is also referred to as Fast Casual.  These terms refer to the snack stands and restaurants where guests walk to a counter, order their meal, and take the food to a table.
Disney Dining Plan (DDP)
Disney Dining Plans are available exclusively to guests of Disney Resort hotels, it is an optional pre-paid meal plan.  Guests have the choice of 4 different plans with varying entitlements to a certain number of table service, counter/quick service, and snacks per day.
Tumblr media
Disney’s Magical Express (Magic Express or ME)
Magical Express is the airport shuttle service operated by Walt Disney World to transport guests and their luggage from Orlando International Airport (MCO only) to all Disney World resort hotels and back again.
Disney Vacation Club (DVC)
It is probably easiest to think of the Disney Vacation Club as the Disney version of a timeshare.  It is the lease of a deeded property that translates into a points booking system.  You then use those points to book nights at multiple resorts throughout Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Aulani, Disney’s Beach Resorts (Hilton Head and Vero Beach), as well as Disney Cruises.
Extra Magic Hours (EMH)
Each day, guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can enjoy select attractions in at least one of the 4 theme parks, before or after regular operating hours. Extra Magic Hours are one of the perks of being “on property” at WDW.
FastPass+ (FP+ or FP)
FastPass+ is a complimentary benefit extended to anyone with valid admission. Each Walt Disney World ticket holder receives three advanced FastPass+ selections for a single park (per day). We have a whole guide on this!
Hard Ticket
A hard ticket refers to specific events at Walt Disney World that require a separate, from park admission, ticket.  You’ll often hear something called a Hard Ticket Event, e.g. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party (MNSSHP), Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP), and Night of Joy.
Tumblr media
MagicBands
Disney Magic Bands are secure all-in-one devices that allow you to effortlessly access the plans and vacation choices that you’ve made with MDE.  They are colorful, customizable, and waterproof wristbands that you can quickly and easily touch to a sensor called a touchpoint.
Memory Maker
Memory Maker is package guests can purchase so to download, edit, and print all of the photographs taken by PhotoPass photographers and attractions throughout Walt Disney World.  Memory Maker is currently included with annual passes. A discount is offered is purchased before arrival although not required. See PhotoPass.
Monorail
Disney's monorail is a single elevated-beam train providing service on three different tracks.  There are two loops in the Magic Kingdom area, circling the Seven Seas Lagoon.  One is an “express” track from the TTC to MK and the other loop is the Resort Loop.  The third provides service to the Future World entrance at Epcot.
Minnie Van
Minnie Van's specific service offered in partnership with Lyft in which the drivers are Disney cast members.  Recently, this service has been expanded to include more resorts and the Orlando International Airport.
My Disney Experience (MDE)
The My Disney Experience website and the app will play major roles in your trip.  You’ll use the website and app to form your travel party and make your ADR and FP+ reservations. During your trip, you’ll be able to track your itineraries and access your Disney PhotoPass pictures.  It also serves as a resource in the parks giving you a map (including indicating where you are), current wait times, menus, and the ability to preorder food at some restaurants!
On Stage/Off Stage/Backstage
Following Walt Disney’s belief that a visit to his theme park is part of a production, these terms refer to where Cast Members are.  On Stage refers to when Cast Members are in view of guests or in a situation where they may interact with guests.  Off Stage or Back Stage stage refers to behind the scenes areas where guests are not permitted.
Tumblr media
Park Hopper
Park Hopper (or Hopper as it is commonly shortened to) is an optional admission add-on that allows guests to visit multiple theme parks in a single day.
Park Hopper Plus
The Park Hopper Plus provides the same benefit of the Park Hopper add-on, plus the addition of access to the water parks, a round of miniature golf, and a round of golf.
Park Hopping
Park Hopping is the act of visiting multiple parks in a single day.  Having an annual pass or Park Hopper add-on is required for this. If you need more information, here are some Park Hopping Tips.
Tumblr media
PhotoPass
PhotoPass is a service that Disney offers with Cast Members taking your photos throughout the parks, most character interactions/meals, and on some attractions.  The service is free and you may view the photos on the MDE app or at PhotoPass shops throughout the property.  Things can get a little confused because there are other PhotoPass-branded products around the parks.  Specifically, you may see ads for single-photo downloads, coffee cups and other merchandise with photos on them, albums, etc. available for purchase. Lucky for you, Heyday Travel Company has you covered! We have a PhotoPass and Memory Maker guide. The important thing to keep in mind is that PhotoPass is the service and Memory Maker is the product/photos.
Pin Trading
It is as straightforward as it sounds, you trade Disney Pins with the Disney Cast Members and for many to a lesser extent with other guests. You can learn more about Pin Trading here.
Resort Loop
The resort loop is the Monorail track that services the Magic Kingdom area resorts: starting at the TTC, to the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, and then returning to the TTC, in that order.
Signature Dining
Signature Dining is a dining experience that uses (2) Table Service dining credit per meal rather than the typical (1) credit.
Skyliner
The Skyliner is the newest mode of transportation offered on-site, a gondola system.  The main station is located at Caribbean Beach with 3 different legs running to; the International Gateway entrance of Epcot by way of Riviera Resort, Hollywood Studios, and the Hourglass Lake station providing access to the Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts.
Tumblr media
Table Service (TS)
Table Service refers to restaurants where guests will be seated and Cast Members will take their order and serve them tableside, also includes buffet and family-style experiences.  These are also typically the restaurants that you’ll want to make ADRs for as demand can be high.

BIG Update on the High-Speed Train Construction at Orlando International Airport
BIG Update on the High-Speed Train Construction at Orlando International Airport
We’ll admit that we were excited about the prospect of the Brightline train that would have connected Orlando Airport to Disney Springs. ©Brightline This year, though, Disney backed out of the deal that would bring a train to Disney Springs after a considerable change was made to the train’s route that didn’t support a Disney Springs station. However, a Brightline train station is still coming…

Miami Airport Transportation - Options to Suit Your Needs
Are you planning on traveling to Miami? If you are, then you will most likely be flying into Miami International Airport, and unless someone is meeting your flight, you'll need some form of transport to get you to wherever it is that you are going. Whether your final destination is downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or even Orlando, there is a wide range of Miami airport limo options available to you.
Tumblr media
The simplest and most convenient option is usually a taxi. They are available outside of the lower arrivals area. If you have difficulty finding one, there are dispatchers located outside of every concourse that will be able to assist you.
Your next best option is the Super Shuttle. The Super Shuttle picks up several passengers at a time. Its fares are per person, and are based on the distance that you will be traveling. Because most of the people that you will be sharing the ride with are probably not be going to the same place as you, it can take a little extra time to get to where you are going. So just take the weight off your feet, and enjoy the ride. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
Many hotels offer airport shuttle service. If you are staying at a hotel that does offer the service, you will find its shuttle, along with the other hotel shuttles, outside of the upper departure area.
A number of companies provide private car and limousine rentals. In addition to offering cars to suit every taste and budget, their service comes complete with chauffeurs who will meet your flight, and drive you to your destination. This is an excellent alternative for those travelers continuing on to out of the way places, who don't drive or are unable to rent a car.
Tumblr media
Younger travelers often like to save money by using public transportation. Metrobus has a station outside of concourse E, right across from customs. There is also a night service that runs from midnight to six in the morning call Airport Owl.
Travelers heading out to Miami Beach can hop on board the Airport Flyer. The Airport Flyer is an express bus that makes a direct run from Miami International Airport to Miami Beach, from six in the morning to eleven at night, seven days a week. It makes only one stop at Earlington Heights station along the way, from where travelers wanting to go downtown can catch the train. There are departures every thirty minutes.
Another option is Tri-Rail, a commuter train operating between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. The Tri-Rail Airport Station is located to the airport's east, on NW 21st Street. Bus connections are available, with Metrobus offering free shuttle service to Tri-Rail ticket holders.
Tumblr media
Car rentals are being moved to the new Rental Car Center, or RCC, located one mile east of Miami International Airport. All car rental companies that previously had desks inside the airport will now be located there, as well as many others that were located off-site. Until the completion of the automated, light-rail MIA Mover system, a shuttle service will operate between the RCC and the airport's terminals.

DESTINATIONS
Virgin Trains Set to Expand in Florida The private train line has broken ground on a rail connecting Miami and Orlando BY SKYE SHERMAN July 25, 2019 Updated: July 25, 2019
Trips to Florida are about to become more fun-filled and action-packed than ever.
Brightline, soon to be rebranded as Virgin Trains USA thanks to a strategic partnership with Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, broke ground in late June on a rail line connecting Orlando to South Florida. The route will be available to travelers in just a few years’ time; service to Orlando is expected to start in 2022.
Brightline is an ultra-modern, high-speed rail line that currently runs between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. It debuted in early 2018 as the first privately funded intercity passenger train in the United States in more than 100 years and has plans to expand with service between Las Vegas and Los Angeles in the future.
Brightline’s Orlando station is strategically located at Orlando International Airport. Once construction on the rail itself is complete, a trip between Florida’s top two cities is expected to take about three hassle-free hours. What’s more, as a result of the new route, projections estimate more than 6 million annual riders in Florida and a $6.4 billion direct economic boost to the state. A proposed Disney stop on the way to west-coast hotspot Tampa, in addition to the Orlando station, may change the way people visit Florida.
The Experience
Already, South Florida’s visitors and residents alike are motivated to explore the region further, with zero headache. Brightline passengers are gleefully greeted by a zealously helpful guest services counter upon arrival to the station, and the futuristic travel experience only begins there. Travelers can scan in at the kiosks using a mobile device before making their way to the airy seating area or café counter to await boarding.
Currently, with the advent of Brightline, traveling from West Palm Beach to Miami takes just over an hour and is traffic-free—and sometimes comes with a chilled glass of champagne.
Brightline’s entrée into the South Florida scene has changed the way locals traverse the region, with trips between the area’s hubs more convenient, quick, and comfortable than ever.
When the first train departs for Orlando and tourists come to realize they can hop all around the Floridian peninsula with ease and efficiency, it will continue to become abundantly clear that the journey truly is the destination.
Hospitality-focused Brightline adds to the travel experience by replenishing rather than draining your travel energy, giving its riders a platform for arriving to whatever’s next feeling prepared, comfortable, and maybe even pampered. The rest of the travel industry should take note.
