. . .
I'm just ranting to myself, so don't mind me:
(I've been playing this game OFFLINE for WEEKS now... and I've just about gone crazy over this particular "feature" of GGST.)
Guilty Gear Strive's "Fishing" gimmick is the WORST Gacha I have ever played. You literally need at least 10 fish to unlock something WHICH KEEPS GETTING RESET.
In order to get currency, you need to level up your profiles EVERY FIVE LEVELS, which is insanely hard to do OFFLINE. I absolutely REFUSE to spend $9.99 for a Month's worth of NETPLAY that will disappear after that Month is up JUST TO UNLOCK FREE CONTENT.
Guilty Gear Strive's gallery has at minimum 59 "Junk Tracks" that do absolutely nothing for you in-game except play in the gallery... it's like they did this on PURPOSE TO INFURIATE ME.
All the "Battle Tracks" are the HARDEST THINGS to unlock... because of JUNK TRACKS and because of AVATAR PARTS that are ONLY USEFUL ONLINE.
Because of this... I have owned DLC I bought with MY MONEY that has been "locked" behind Gacha for WEEKS and they just WON'T UNLOCK.
Now, I could SIMPLY "give in" and spend that $9.99 for Netplay purposes and just fight and defeat some Level 30+ random person with every character in the roster I have mastered.... but you have to understand the PRINCIPLE OF THE IDEA...
Promising tracks and content for a game and LOCKING it behind a very poorly built Gacha system is the HEIGHT OF TYRANNY.
I've played Guilty Gear Strive on STEAM for FREE ONLINE ever since the game was released... that is nearly 1,000+x LONGER than the time needed to "Time Release" all FREE content in Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R.... a game that has YET to be released on PS4 and PS5 (I feel sorry for future gamers in that regard for never having played AC+R before).
I'm not gonna say "PC master race" here... that would be folly and arrogant... but I will say that game companies that build their games SOLELY around Netplay and Online content NEED TO RECONSIDER THEIR USERBASE AND MORALITY VALUES.
Right now I feel like I've been travelling in a SWELTERING DESERT because I can't access FREE CONTENT simply because of OFFLINE DISCRIMINATION. Like being promised WATER and having to SELL YOUR SOUL in order to DRINK IT.
Normally I would forgive most DLC content as attempts to MAKE PROFIT, but I do NOT appreciate having content DANGLED in front of my nose and having the odds of obtaining that content CONSTANTLY OUT OF REACH.
Maybe Japanese Culture "permits" the concept of Gacha and Roll Gambling... but I have GENUINELY AND TRUELY GOTTEN FED UP WITH IT.
If you haven't complained to ARC System Works about this yet... please DO. I give you my blessing. I've already mentioned it to them previously... More offline content would be nice... more ways to earn currency would be nice OFFLINE.
Even something as simple as VS CPU mode would be a nice feature THAT NOBODY except Frenchbread and Project Soul ever thought of...
Sigh... okay, rant over... go on with your lives...

🎮 The Video Game Market Is Wild Right Now, and Here’s Why That Matters aka: AAA bloat, indie magic, and everything in between.
The video game industry is in a strange place. On one hand, it’s bigger than ever—more players, more money, more games. On the other? Layoffs, unfinished releases, broken promises, and creative burnout. The market is booming and breaking. At the same time.
AAA Studios are stuck in a loop: spend hundreds of millions, crunch developers to the edge, ship games that need 10 patches and a prayer. And yet… somehow we keep pre-ordering. (Capitalism: 1, Gamers: 0)
But wait—indie devs are out here saving souls. Cozy games, experimental weirdness, deep storytelling, and actual innovation. With small teams and smaller budgets, they’re making things that feel human. (Looking at you, Stardew, Dave the Diver, Outer Wilds.)
And let’s not forget live service games—love them or hate them, they’ve reshaped how the market works. Constant updates, battle passes, FOMO events... it’s exhausting and addictive.
Meanwhile, subscription models (Game Pass, PS Plus) are changing how we buy, play, and value games. Is it the Netflix of gaming or just another way to drown in a backlog? Who knows. We're in uncharted territory.
What’s clear is this: the video game market isn’t just an economy—it’s a battleground between art, business, and community. And somehow, despite the chaos, people are still making magic.
So yeah. It’s a mess. But it’s our mess.

Games Complete 10-13
Tumblr media
#10: Inscryption.
What a wonderful experience this has been. Original IP that got me hooked immediately - a rare feat for modern games. This game is just more than one thing. It changes completely at some point, which made me want to quit at first, but I'm glad I didn't. Just needed a week to start "fresh", and then got hooked again. It's fun figuring out the game's mysteries on your own, but beyond that, there is even more. Don't worry, you don't need to do anything extra to understand it completely, but if you want to, there are some good analysis videos on YouTube waiting for you.
Tumblr media
#11: Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.
Continuing with this series, I originally wanted to complete the original trilogy first. I played a bit of the second game before realizing, I do not want to play another PS2 game right - especially since there are so many Ratchet & Clank PS3 games. So, I started with the Future trilogy instead, which feels same-y in a lot of ways, but also better. Some, but less, frustrating sections, mostly due to spawning at the beginning of a level after death, but mostly just fun. I've completed this game faster than the first one, and I see this as a seal of quality. It seems that this is missing from most (not all!) modern games who want you to play endlessly and pay all the money while you're at it.
#12: Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty.
Standalone DLC for Tools of Destruction. Short and sweet.
#13: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.
Childhood game, still super fun. Activision is losing money by not selling these games, original or remaster.
