Hi! How're you doing? I need to know more about the coyote getting married, please. What's it got to do with sunny rain, who officiates, how do the people know about it, i have a lot of questions.
Hi! While waiting in line to give plasma, I had a pretty long talk with the security guard which felt like a much needed "touch grass" moment, so I'm doing pretty well! I had a cool/nice human interaction with a non-relative irl! (It's a small win but I'm taking any I can get these days xD) Apparently different places have different versions of this. Like in the state of Tennessee they say the Devil is kissing his wife when it rains while the sun's out. In the Mexican part where my family is from it's just...a thing to say xD In the same token that every time you see a cow, whenever it rained while the sun was out, someone would say "Se esta casando un coyote."
Morbidly, casar in Spanish means both to marry and to hunt. So the origin of that phrase could have gone through a game of telephone, but the way I heard it with context given(as little as it may have been thinking back on it, plus I was a wee child) I always pictured the animal.
And personally, I pictured a lot of desert like animals gathering on top of a mountain range. Because of the wild animals I saw, again personally, I headcanoned they were married by a snake(because I never saw an eagle but I did see snakes...the animals on the Mexican flag xD) and in attendance were all the farm dogs and scorpions, snails, rollie pollies, cows, donkey's and horses that could make it.

Hmm, so as an Eastern European who literally used to live in such so-called "Soviet building", can I tell you that pretending that turning a Nazi prison into a TV-show-themed hotel isn't utterly fucked up is completely deranged and disrespectful, then? There's literally NO comparison between those two things, what are you even talking about? Not to even mention that this entire thing doesn't have anything to do with communism, so I don't really get why you even brought that up in the first place
oh, honey,,, im so sorry you think that taking symbols of oppression and turning them into something that helps the country develop is a bad thing

Photos from Patarei vangla, an abandoned prison in Tallinn, Estonia. During its usage as a prison, Patarei has faced nazism, holocaust and communism leaving behind only a huge death count and terrors beyond our comprehension - terrors so terrible, the whole place has paranormal occurrences in almost every hallway and room.
As someone who loves exploring I don’t mind deteriorating spaces, but the three-hour-long visit to Patarei was an experience I don’t want to repeat ever again. From the first step in to the last step out, there’s a pressuring atmosphere of maliciousness and despair that doesn’t leave you alone. Your thoughts will return there over and over again, no matter how much time passes or what happens. Just like those under totalitarian rule, your mind will be prisoned haunted too.

Patarei, former soviet prison in Tallinn

Note
That is not in the slightest what I've said. I literally told you that such infrastructure provided housing to my family. What I'm saying is that this particular building - a Nazi prison that was not just a "symbol of oppression" but a place directly tied to the Ponary massacre - should not be turned into a fucking hotel. It's crossing the line. The "building can be rearranged" isn't an universal sentiment that applies to each and every case. It's not that complicated.
ok have you even read up on this prison? it was built by the soviets to imprison those who were against the regime. it only turned into a nazi camp during the nazi occupation of lithuania, after that it was once again used to hold soviet prisoners and after becoming independent it became. a regular. fucking. prison.
it was closed a few years ago and turned into a cultural center.
i literally got all of this information within two minutes, simply by reading the wikipedia article about the prison.
now, while i have your attention, here is another example of the same thing being done: patarei prison in tallinn.
For Estonians, Patarei is one of the most prominent symbols of Soviet and Nazi political terror.
we turned it into a cultural center, they now host parties of all kinds and im pretty sure they also still give tours of the older parts of the prison
now, my dear anon westerner, please, get your head out of your ass and educate yourself on topics before saying something
and, please, listen to the locals and the descendants of those who were oppressed when talking about topics that concern us.
