Adieu to 2023
2023 is history. Not that I will look back upon it fondly. Too many scary things reared their ugly heads during the year gone by. I fear though, that 2024 will disappoint us even more. November 2024 will be a water shed moment for the US. And I am not hopeful.
But enough of these dark thoughts.

New Haven Railroad EP-4 motor 360 & Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 locomotive 4896 are seen in the open pit area situated between Pennsylvania Station and the U.S. Post Office in New York City, 7-24-1960. In this area you could see trains heading to the Hudson River tunnels or that are entering Penn Station, along with locomotives that are awaiting their next assignment. Today this area is now covered over and the U.S. Post Office is now part of the Penn Station facility.

My guess on Penn Station

Not much news lately on the idea of rebuilding Pennsylvania Station as it was originally designed by architects McKim Mead & White in 1910. The station was torn down in 1963 and replaced by the existing mess of a rail hub, underneath a hulking sports arena.
