Should Children Learn in Advance?
“Don’t let your children lose at the starting line.”
Generation after generation, parents who are encouraged by the saying make their children learn the knowledge in advance, which will be taught in school, because they are afraid that their children won’t keep pace with peers.
And nowadays, great changes have taken place in kindergarten life. Many parents have turned preschool into primary school. They make children learn Pinyin(Chinese phonetic), English, math and so on in kindergarten, so that the children will be ready for the first grade in elementary school.
Seeing these phenomena, I couldn't help wondering, “Is it really necessary for children to learn knowledge in advance?”
Tumblr media
Pinyin--Chinese phonetic
First of all, be sure that the primary school curriculum includes the courses you want to learn in advance. Take Pinyin for example, the primary school has about 8 weeks of "reading children's songs and literacy Pinyin", which can basically obtain the ability to read and spell Pinyin. After 8 weeks or so, "Look at the Pinyin Reading Text Literacy", it can strengthen and consolidate the spelling ability; at the end of the grade, you can correctly spell Chinese Pinyin. You can read Chinese characters with Chinese Pinyin. You will learn how to look up new words in the dictionary and have the ability to read independently.
But what if others have learned it but my children haven’t?As the research done in Shanghai shows, whether you have studied pinyin before entering school or whether you take part in pinyin tutoring before class has merely a slight influence on test scores at the beginning of school, and this effect gradually disappears at the end of the second year.
What about literacy and mathematics? Is it essential to learn both in advance? Everyone knows that even if you learn in advance in preschool, when you go to elementary school, you will learn the same content again. Don’t you think that it’s a waste of time? I think that learning ahead should refer to advance learning in terms of ability, not specific knowledge itself. For example, language is particularly important in language expression, imagination and creativity, as well as the logical ability of mathematics. These abilities are harder to acquire than simply forcing a child to remember Chinese characters or go back to a calculation because developing cognitive abilities is not done overnight, but is formed through long-term training. For babies before the age of 6, teachers and parents should pay attention to the development of their language skills, imagination, creativity and logic, so that the baby will benefit for life.
English as a second language is so important in globalization. Nowadays it’s hot to learn natural rhythm in learning English. Even if you start learning English at the age of four, you still learn from natural spelling. Seriously, I think this is a waste of baby time. It is much more difficult for a baby before the age of 6 to learn natural phonics through a memory letter combination than a child in a high school grade because of their lack of learning experience and limited learning ability, and the ability to spell this will increase with age. I didn’t have a natural spelling ability before, but I could sum up the pronunciation of the letter combinations. By now I can read it by letter combinations when I encounter a word I don’t know. Since it is something that children can easily learn in the future, why should you spend a lot of precious time studying before the age of 6? Many parents let their children learn English in advance as well as learning Chinese characters in advance for one or two years, but they cannot conduct simple daily communication, which completely violates the original intention of English as a communication tool.
The experiences in the first five years are crucial to the development of social skills, personality, cognitive skills, thinking skills, decision-making, ability to concentrate and behaviour, according to Dr. Madeleine Portwood, an educational psychologist and head of clinical services at the Dubai-based consultancy Ebdaah.
Thus I recommend parents that you should let your children learn some abilities which may benefit them in a long term, rather than grab specific knowledge and skills in advance.

Top Ways Poetry Can Boost Children’s Literacy
Tumblr media
When it comes to teaching poetry in schools or other educational institutes, teachers take two vastly different approaches. There are some that welcome it and others that don’t wish to include it as part of the curriculum. For the second group, the reasons for excluding poetry usually include not viewing it as beneficial for children.
According to HuffPost, poetry is noted to boost creativity, language development, writing skills, creative language usage, and vocabulary. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the ways in which poetry is able to boost children’s literacy.
Improve Speaking, Reading, and Listening Skills
A common feature found in almost all poetry classrooms is that participants are required to read the poems aloud. When children hear poems being read, they learn to listen to different words and try to understand what they mean together – enhancing their listening skills.
Initially, having different sentences rhyme together can be a bit difficult. However, the process is what accustoms children to repeated reading and sentence structure. The child’s brain attempts to connect the dots when they hear or speak poems.
Often, teachers ask children to visualize what they’ve written. This forces them to make sense of different ideas and helps in the development of a creative mind.
Develop a Love of Reading
As children read different material, it exposes them to a variety of texts and writing styles. Reading books can be a bit challenging for children that struggle with grammar or difficult words. Poetry, on the other hand, is different. It requires the reader to visualize and the rhyming pattern is a unique ingredient that makes poetry fun to read and learn.
Children are highly curious and poems can encourage them to imagine and experience the world in a completely different way.
Improves Language and Vocabulary
Poetry equips teachers with a tool that can be used to break down and evaluate language in small parts. The rhyming effects teach children about different letter sounds and phonics. Poetry is also effective for teaching numerous grammar skills, parts of speech, and sentence structure. For children who may be struggling with grammar, poetry can be a massive help!
Poetry also builds vocabulary as children get to hear new words they haven’t heard before. Reading out a poem of the week and asking the kids to identify new words or words that sound similar proves effective in this regard.

Children who are exposed to poetry have better language skills than those that haven’t had any exposure. Tips and Tricks to Overcome Your Kid’s Learning Disability
When our children are diagnosed with learning disability (LD), our thoughts and concerns turn to them constantly. It's hard not to feel bad about yourself because you might be why they are having so many troubles or doing something wrong.  Most of us who have kids with LD do not know how to help them, but it does not mean that we cannot help them. Many of them want to know more about Language Classes for Kids in Dubai so that such institutes can help the kids overcome learning disability issues. Let's make things easier for your family and you by providing 11 things you can do if your child has trouble learning.
What Are Learning Disabilities?
Learning disability in people often confuse them in seeing things, hearing, and sometimes understanding information. They often find it difficult to interact with the people around them and at school which makes things hard for them.
What are some common problems with learning?
Some of the most well-known types of learning disabilities in kids are:
Having trouble reading
Disorder of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Autism spectrum illnesses
How do I diagnose learning impairments in my child?
Just think how worried you are as your child grows up.  In that case, you need to talk to a professional, like a doctor, speech therapist, psychologist, or neurologist, about how to help them learn and do well.  With their help, you can get a correct diagnosis and determine what school accommodations you need.
Learn the best ways to help kids with trouble learning.
The first thing we need to do is love our children instead of judging them for what they do. It is always recommended to let the kids play trying new things, making them create new pretend games, and allowing them to do what they like in their free time. Trying to be flexible with kids will reduce stress, as long as the rules are not broken.
Helping children with learning disabilities: Top 11 methods:
Make sure your child does certain things a lot of times.  It's essential to help them remember what they are learning at school at home and to give them lots of chances to do it again and again since this kind of help has been shown to improve performance on specific skills like reading comprehension or math calculations.
Set aside a quiet area for your child to learn so they won't be interrupted.  It could be a part of their bedroom or playroom without a TV.
Set up regular routines before you start working.  Kids do better on their homework, jobs, and music practice when they follow a routine.  It helps them stay focused and organized, which means they get better grades and have more success than if they tried new things all day long.
Try keeping your kid busy and motivated by allowing them to play outside with friends or video games on a computer for relaxation.
Before permitting your kids to go out and play see that you can assist them in understanding their schoolwork by going through the assignment with them.
Set a good example at home by promoting and celebrating academic achievement.  If you can't find time to read aloud as a family, put all your books in one place.  Instead of watching TV, designate a spot where you may practice writing daily, such as on the kitchen table or the couch.  Recognize and reward perseverance and effort rather than success.
So that they don't crash when they get home from school, be accommodating to the child's schedule; for example, if they're more alert first thing in the morning, let them have their favorite meal before school.  Set aside time for them to get dressed and go outside if they need some quiet time to themselves first thing in the morning before they tackle their homework or household tasks.
Get the rest of the family involved!  Ask your child how they can help with class transitions at school and reassure them that you will be there for them no matter what.  Can you recommend some fun things for siblings to do together?
Discover strategies to empower students to stand up for themselves and access internet resources related to learning difficulties.  A search engine like Google could be helpful in this regard.
If it seems like the right thing to do, consider switching your child's classroom.  Before making the move, discuss how you can help the school personnel and any necessary accommodations with them.
Seek opportunities to participate in school beyond the typical classroom setting, such as reading aloud as a group, volunteering to be reading buddies in other students' classes, or planning and participating in extracurricular activities like talent shows or book fairs.
Conclusion:
Please seek clarification and communicate any issues that may arise.  Most importantly, your child knows their relatives will be there for them no matter what, so they don't feel alone or confused.  Language training in Dubai has become essential in the UAE as parents want to do their best for their children.  They are more open to teaching them in the best environment to bring them out of the fear of learning disability.
We cannot see our child suffer, but we can always help them with their new lifestyle adjustments. One thing that we all can do is to be there for them in every step of life. Things will get better!  As you embark on this adventure together, may fortune smile upon you.
