Mt. Gulugod Baboy

Mt. Gulugod Baboy is the perfect destination because of the breathtaking scenery. One of the magnificent mountains that can be seen in Batangas is Mt. Gulugod Baboy. It is located in Barangay Anilao in the town of Mabini. The province of Batangas is not only known for its beaches, but it is also known for its mountains. Gulugod Baboy was once known as Mt. Pinagbanderahan. According to historical reports, a Japanese plane crashed on this peak during World War II, but some soldiers survived. They placed a flag on its pinnacle to mark their survival. This natural gem of Mabini, Batangas, remains a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts, offering a memorable and invigorating adventure amidst the province's natural splendor.

My course journey and experiences

I will highlight the output we did, the promotion vlog. Our group decided to do promotion vlog at atimonan, quezon, we planned to do a 4 days recording. On the first day we decided to travel together, after we arrived at atimonan, we decided to eat dinner and plan where we go for the next days. 2nd day we travelled from atimonan town proper to national zigzag park to hike pinagbanderahan, we climbed from bottom to the highest point hikers allowed, our group takes 90mins hiking, it was to tiring but the view from the top is worth. We rest for a little bit and take some picture and enjoy the view, we stayed for 60mins before we decided to go down before the dark come. 7pm we arrived at atimonan town proper and we rest for the next day. 3rd day, we went to abandoned old coco pier and enjoy the view and the ocean. 4th day, we went to church to watch "prusisyon" because it was mahal na araw one of the tradition in philippines, we took some drone shots, after that we went to our last destination "baypark". Baypark is a seaside park project by atimonan goverment build 2 years ago. Then we posted the promotion vlog on facebook, atimonan goverment saw it and share out video and thank us. We did not expect that and we gains 5000 views on facebook.

Hello everyone! This picture was captured in March 2022, at Gulugod Baboy. When we traveled there to relax and have some fun. A little trivia about Mt. Pork Back Gulugod Baboy is a Tagalog word that means "pig's spine" It was said that that mountain was named as such due to the outline of its peaks that resemble a pig spine itself. It has three peaks: The Gulugod Baboy, Gitna and Pinagbanderahan.

The highest of the three peaks has a history. The reason why it was called Pinagbanderahan. Around the 1940s during World War II, a Japanese aircraft crashed into it. With sheer luck, the Japanese airmen in it survived. To celebrate the chance to live, they hoisted a flag at the mountain and thus flagged. Pinagbanderahan is a Tagalog term from the borrowed word, Bandera, which means flag.

January 2021

My friends and I went to Taal Church to ask for forgiveness for our past sins and also to be thankful for the peaceful welcome we had for a year. Then we also went to San Nicolas Bay Walk to see the beautiful scenery and to have fun with our friends.

February 2021

This month of February nothing much happened because we are back in module again and busy with activities and household chores. The module is stressful because there is too much work and housework, so sometimes I am late in passing my activities. And to relieve my stress I sometimes ride a bike and sometimes play mobile games.

March 2021

This month I always woke up early because we always go to Pinagbanderahan with my best friend. When I first went here it was tiring because it was so high and I was not familiar with the place but as time went on I got used to it and felt light because I was with my friends as we chatted with those we experienced in the module and it relieved stress.

April 2021

This April I didn't do much because I was busy with the module again but sometimes my friends go to our house and sometimes we go to the milkteahan sometimes to the lomihan to talk about the upcoming graduation and talk about the school they will attend in next school year.

May 2021

This month we always get along with friends and go to different places to make the most of the last month that we will be in the same class because we will be separated when we go to Grade 11 because we will go to different schools. We went to San Nicolas Bay Walk to watch the Sunrise and we went to Butong Bay Walk to watch the sunset. And also we celebrated my Father's Birthday.

June 2021

Today is the day we have been waiting for because this month we will graduate at the same time and of course we will not lose our pictorial. Today this month is important for us because here we received our medal and here we proved our diligence and perseverance for a year.

July 2021

This month is the happiest day for me because it is the month of my birthday and my mother and my sister’s birthday. July 3 is my Mother and my Ate's birthday, of course I won't miss the little party. A few days later we celebrated my birthday, with my friends we went to the Balai De Claro and there we celebrated my birthday we had fun having a party and laughing. Today is the happiest day we have together because we also celebrated our graduation of Grade 10 and today is the day I will never forget in the year 2021.

August 2021

Today month is the happiest day for me because it is the month of my birthday and my mother and my sister’s birthday. July 3 is my Mother and my Ate's birthday, of course I won't miss the little party. A few days later we celebrated my birthday, with my friends we went to the Hall and there we celebrated my birthday we had fun having a party and laughing. Today is the happiest day we have together because we also celebrated our graduation of Grade 10 and today is the day I will never forget in the year 2021.

September 2021

This month we started our online class and I am a full Grade 11 student, I am excited to meet my new classmates and make friends with them, of course I will not lose my nervousness because I am not very familiar with the new teachers. and a new classmate and because I'm just new to the online class because we were modules last year.

October 2021

I am very happy because little by little I get to know my classmates and I also have a few friends. I really can't avoid making mistakes when answering in the online class and sometimes I can't answer because I don't know the answer, sometimes I know the answer but I didn't answer because I'm ashamed to answer. As time went on, our activities increased, especially when our exam was approaching. I was really busy every time our exam came because of completing the activities. And I hope I get to know you better and I hope you get to know me too.

As the clock ticks waiting for that long hand to hit 12 so that everybody can shout “Happy Chinese New Year!!”, here we are catching our breath as we continue to assault this never ending dark steep trail of Mt. Gulugod Baboy also known as Mt. Pinagbanderahan. It is classified as “Minor” hike with difficulty of 2/9 and trail class 1-2.

This is my first climb. This mountain is Mt. Pinagbanderahan (Known as Mt. Gulugod Baboy or Pig’s spine) located at Mabini Anilao Batangas. Before the real trail there is paved trail which is a bit hard to climb. For the first few minutes ( siguro 3 minutes ) i already feel like I’m having a difficulty of breathing because of cemented road. They said that it is very easy to climb but for me… nah… because I’m a first timer and it was tiring. I just wanted to back out because I’m having an anxiety and my heart rate is not normal and I can also feel the it’s pounding sound but of course I did not back out. And then we the reached the real trail, as I do another stride my legs are trembling and I also feel dizzy. We just continue to walk and it was already dim when we reached the first peak.

pinagbanderahan summit . . .

one of the historic site in the atimonan-pabilao zig zag road also known as bitukang manok is this hiking destination where the flag was raised during the world war 2.

just across the quezon national park, around 45 minutes hike, you will see the whole view of this side of the province.

a protected area, you should coordinate your trip to their trekking officer as they have no guide, no hike policy, a fee of php 300 will be required but its ok since this will go directly to your guide who will assist you even with photoshoots.

don’t forget to bring water and a lot of energy for this adventure
